Matthew McConaughey opens up about fatherhood.
The daddy-to-be was all smiles when discussing the baby he and girlfriend, model Camilla Alves, are expecting this summer, “It’s not a science, but I think I’ve got the instincts for it. I’m looking forward to the big adventure!”
McConaughey tells ET that his friends and family have already been offering advice, “One thing I’ve heard that’s consistent is, ‘whatever plans you make, throw them out the window!’”
He also reveals that the couple will not learn the sex of the baby, “We want to keep the suspense as high as possible!”

I don’t understand the concept of “suspense” around childbirth. Like, you’re going to spend a lifetime learning all kinds of surprising things about the kid. I think couples just avoid learning the sex so that they don’t have to find out what baggage each of them has around gender until the last possible moment.

I think not finding out the sex of the baby is one of the coolest things you can do. I mean when I was born it wasn’t even an option, its part of the thrill of having a baby. People these days are 2 concerned with the wrong things, enjoying the pregnancy and getting ready for the baby are what matters. Not finding out the sex and being obnoxious about it, there are enough people like that. These 2 are going to make awesome parents, she is really pretty and I love her coat.
