Brittany Murphy’s Husband Once Bought Fake Engagement Ring

Brittany Murphy and Factory Girl executive producer and writer Simon Monjack shocked friends and family in April by marrying after only four months of dating. The couple skipped the proposal and honeymoon, exchanging Neil Lane rings in a private L.A. home with only their families present.
But now Murphy’s inner circle is growing concerned about her new man’s history before he swept Murphy, 29, off her feet.
Among his troubles: two warrants for his arrest in Virginia for alleged credit-card theft and fraud; an unpaid $6,087 legal bill, and a $502,910 judgment against him by a British investment firm.
And Us Weekly reports in its new issue that Monjack gave his former fiancée, British film producer Taira Rafiq, an engagement ring he had told her was a diamond but was, in fact, cubic zirconia. “Taira tried to get in touch with Brittany to warn her,” a Rafiq pal says.
He also was jailed earlier this year for overstaying his tourist visa, and Murphy, 29, had to bail him out. “Simon began pushing for marriage, since he was going to be deported,” says a source, adding that Murphy paid for her own engagement ring .
Monjack says, “It is a real tragedy that success, greed, envy and celebrity are the motivation for attacking my family and character.”

Now who in the world would be envious of a fat ugly slob with a criminal record, a pile of debt and nothing famous about him except the woman he conned into marrying him??

Camille all I could say when I saw your email was Oh my god you do exist. He told me about you and the engagement ring and that he went to pick it up for you. It is my jewelly and the ones my mother and grandmother gave me that he STOLE to fund his gambling habits. He told my super that he left something important in my apartment when he called me and I was out of town and the super let him in ( I don’t know if he paid the super off too) and he took my extra keys that I would give visitors to ny to use and made a copy and stole from me while I was at work and even my phone bill began to rise and I called to the phone company and got the printouts and they were all made by him! He is an EVIL monster! He used your name to me many times, it was incredible, I had to leave my apartment which I had for 5 years before I met him and when I realize his criminal behaviour…I was nearly wiped out. There is more which I won’t get into now. I see he told you too about living the good life, only I never wanted to get married to him! I obviously don’t know if you are in the NYC area as he told me you were in Seattle, WA and DC and Alexandria, VA. His family is in the NY area.
