It’s official…ABC picks up “Private Practice”
ABC announced late Friday that they had picked up the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off series, tentatively titled Private Practice for next season.
After the success of the May 3 test episode that was part of a two hour Grey’s extravaganza, the pick-up was a no-brainer for the network. In addition to Kate Walsh’s Addison Montgomery-Shepherd, the new show stars Taye Diggs (Day Break), Tim Daly (The Nine, Wings), Hector Elizondo (Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries), Paul Adelstein (Prison Break), Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars), Merrin Dungey (Alias) and Amy Brenneman (Judging Amy).
While this certainly simplifies the race for a chief at Seattle Grace (not to mention a number of people’s love lives), it seems most Grey’s fans would rather see Addison continue her ongoing anatomy lesson with Dr. Alex Karev.

Of course the ratings were good, they blended it with a regular Grey’s episode! I am a HUGE Grey’s fan but I thought the spin off was horrible. I don’t think it will last.

Yeah, I won’t be watching it… poor Kate Walsh…

This end of season, when every show is loosing viewers, the only time Grey’s went up was the spinoff. This week, Greys hit a all time low for first run’s. Be grateful for the spinoff bringing some viewers into Grey’s and pulling out from behind CSI were it was the week before.

I watched Grey’s season 1 and stopped watching mostly due to the fact that I was starting university at the start of season 2. One friend asked me in late January, “Are you ever planning on catching up on Grey’s?” and added “I don’t know whether to tell you that you should, or not. It’s kind of a deep vortex you get sucked down. When it’s good, it’s really good, but it seems mostly it’s just sort of average.” However, another friend of mine convinced me to watch the spin-off episode on the 3rd and I just loved it. (Okay part of it may have been seeing Julian Sark married to Grace Polk and seeing Grace Polk in a pink dress!) However, the rest of the show, the regular GA part of the show, just bored me. I was happy to go on not watching the following episode.
But I will definitely tune in to Private Practice this fall. *is so excited*

I liked the spin-off — not sure if I’ll be a regular viewer, but I did like it.

The spinoff was very hard to sit through. It will not last. Bad acting, combined with uninteresting themes and Show-stopper (not in a good way) Taye Diggs is a formula to avoid.
Moreover, we are running out of places to go on GA..I don’t think it will make it more than another two seasons.
Although this season has fallen off as it has progressed, it has been fun. Just not the addiction it used to be.

That’s a terrible, forgettable title. I hope they change it.

I think they won’t!
I will probably watch this show, juste because there is Chris Lowell in it!

grey’s is getting ridiculous and the only reason I watch right now is b/c of Kate. I’m excited about the spinoff!

I can’t stand Kate Walsh as she plays Addison as a caricature, not a character. But I LOVED the spinoff because the other actors are fantastic. I’ll be watching, although gritting my teeth when Walsh is in a scene.
Grey’s is so stupid and insipid lately.

Kudrow turned down the role in Private Practice

Grey’s is my FAVORITE tv show right now. I don’t really care that Kate Walsh’s character is leaving Grey’s. I wanted things to work out for Addison and Alex or even with her and McSteamy. Now that she’s leaving I don’t care anymore.
I really like Amy Brenneman. I loved Judging Amy. I might watch Private Practice to see what happens to her character because I got a little lost during the intro episode. I will watch 2 episodes at the most before I decide to NOT watch it anymore. I wonder what time slot itis going to get.

I absolutely love Kate Walsh as Addison Montgomery. I hope that Derek and Addison can work things out. After all, isnt that what marriage is about? Two fallible humans learning through the good times and bad,for better and for worse, in sickness and in health? She is excellent as Dr Addison Montgomery. She has such a commanding presence in the presence of a male-dominated heads in the surgery department. I cannot imagine someone other than Kate Walsh who can pull of Addison’s struggles so effortlessly. I will definitely watch Private Practice. All the way Addison!

DULL UNINTERESTING and JUST PLAIN DUMB! These are pretty much all great actors which leads one to believe this is a result of a bad script .. How Sad .. When thought provoking shows immediately get the axe and this type of tripe prevails, it reflects how shallow and uninteresting we’ve become
