Daryl Hannah Is Glad She Declined ‘Pretty Woman’ Offer. (And so are we)
I’d like to file this one under: BUUULLLLSSHHHH******TTTTT

Hollywood actress Daryl Hannah is overjoyed she turned down the role in Pretty Woman made famous by Julia Roberts because she now thinks of it as “degrading for the whole of womankind“. The Kill Bill star declined the part of prostitute Vivian Ward in the 1990 movie – which shot Roberts to fame – because she disliked the tone, as did Meg Ryan and Michelle Pfeiffer.
Hannah says, “One of the things I’m most proud of is refusing to take Julia’s role. Every time I see it I like it less and less. They sold it as a romantic fairytale when in fact it’s a story about a prostitute who becomes a lady by being kept by a rich and powerful man. I think that film is degrading for the whole of womankind.”

Actually I’m with D. Hannah.
I can’t see the bullshit. Fact is: it’s about a prostitute who was “taken” bei a rich man. Not exactly the reflection of an independent woman.

Wait, wait. It’s ok to play a stoned-out-of-your-mind stripper in Dancing at the Blue Iguana, or a young woman involved in a threesome in Summer Lovers, but a hooker, she won’t touch. O-kay….

I like how she finds it degrading but mentions “every time she watches it she likes it less”. I have a crazy idea stop watching it.

I watched Pretty Woman once and it was enough. I just thought it was stupid…I mean how could Julia not find Jason Alexander totally hot!

Excuse me! Wasn’t Darryl in the most degrading female movie, ever …”Clan of the Cave Bear”. What about playing a stripper in “Dancing at the Blue Iguana”. Unfortunately for her, we have seen these movies, and couldn’t forget them.

OKay, did she miss the part at the end where Vivian says “That would be a really nice offer for a girl like me, but I want the fairy tale.” So she wasn’t being “KEPT” by anyone. She was fully prepared to go off and better her own life on her own terms or did I see a different ending from everyone else? Yes, he came back, but on her terms. In the end, she wasn’t bought and she didn’t settle.
