   Beyoncé has been wearing wigs since forever. Just like Saoussan said, black celebs do it all the time and her and Tyra are known for wearing them. It’s the new thing it’s a lot easier on your hair and it can look much more realistic than extensions when done properly.

    I think the real question should be why her hair professional provided her with a wig that looks like it has grey hair growing in.

    As per the facial hair – the high powered cameras and flash used for paparazzi and publicity pics pick up things the eye can’t see (or makes your opaque blouse become see-thru). Often that is why stuff is retouched or photoshopped – because the camera picks up everything and makes you look WORSE than in real life. We are mammals, that hair is probably invisible in person.

    Okay, so B’s downfall is hi-def photography. Cause if it was a “regular” picture and we couldn’t see every teeny detail, she would look fine. We may know that she wears lace fronts, but we wouldn’t be able to *see* the LF. I’ve seen other shots of B from this event and she looks fine.

    I thought that black people wore weaves for the same reasons that other races wear weaves- because they want to, because they want longer hair, because they want a different style or color, etc.

I love hair and I say the more texture, curl or kink the better!     Yes Beyonce wears false hair. Yes many other celebrities regardless of their race wear false hair. But I would just like to say that I agree that a lot of black women put the hair resembling that of another race onto their head. I believe that this shows self hatred. A lot of black people talk about ‘good hair’ and ‘bad, nappy hair’ a lot of balck people see their hair in this negative way and I believe it to be self hate a racism within the race. I believe those who are ashamed of their hair are brainwashed. The way how I see it, if you are proud to be black why would you want to cover up one of the features of the black race (the hair)? Why are you so ashamed of the texture of your hair that you feel the need to alter it and to make it look like the hair of another race? I am a Black woman and Very proud and I demonstrate this by wearing my hair naturally. My hair is afro, curly and kinky and I love my hair. I used to straighten it until I realised the self hatred that I was portraying.
    I believe that a black woman who straightens her hair or lightens it (blonde etc) or places the hair of another race onto her head is the equivalent to a black woman who bleaches her skin. This is MY opinion. You do not have to agree with me, I am not looking for friends.
    To my fellow black people reading this, if you are offended by what I have just said then that just shows that the truth hurts and you do not want to accept it. If what I am saying is not true tell me whose hair looks better to you out of these two: India Irie’s natural hair or Beyonce’s straight and light coloured hair? Would you walk out the door wearing your natural afro hair or would you feel the need to cover it with a wig or get it straightened?
    Please, if you call the white people on here racist for ‘hinting’ at the truth (though they could’ve worded it better) then prove them wrong by wearing your hair in it’s natural state. Show them that they are wrong and that you are proud of your hair. I challenge you.

    Hi my sister is a celebrity stylist in NY and LA. She’s done Mary J. , JLo, Joss Stone, Jada Smith (by the way all of that hair is hers) and many others. Many celebrities wear wigs and extensions (white, asian, latino, african-american and everyone in between) for many reasons but the main reason is to preserve their hair due to the wear and tear from the stage lights and another main reason is to achieve different looks such as bleaching, coloring and different styles without damaging the hair. I think it’s great that women and men have a choice. Who cares. Whether your a celebrity or not, if it looks good….ROCK IT! Beyonce does wear a lace front wig and she wears it well!!!!

If blacks were the dominant culture in the world, they most likely would have their “natural hair” texture images on tv, dolls, bible images etc,like europeans have done. And most of you black women are in denial. On average I dont see asians, whites, pacific, indian women walking around with altered hair textures. A few will try the dreadlock thing but most are comfortable with their natural, real hair texture which god gave them. lets face it, black women feel the need to conform in order to survive and get some acceptance in this eurocentric culture. in so doing they lost huge part of their identity.

    I have had braids for years. I’m entering the working world and in my field, braids, fros, dreads, etc. are a big no. There’s a certain image and it’s one of uniformity. I’m trying to find someone to straighten my hair well without a relaxer. I’m annoyed that I have to do it, but I’d be more annoyed if I couldn’t pay my rent. I look at it this way: just like I wouldn’t normally choose to wear plain shoes, no jewelry and uniform Banana Republic, I wouldn’t choose to straighten my hair. I love my braids. I get up and go. It’s so convenient and now, I can’t just do that. There are very practical reasons why people can’t necessarily express themselves. There are far more gifted black female singers. Beyonce is more successful with blacks and whites because of her image. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong. It just is. It’s a fair comparison to climbing the corporate ladder so I can’t judge her wig for the same reason.

    In fact, I’m going to investigate to see if the wig will take less time than thermal straightening. Time is money.

     Wow, I am watching a DVR’d SNL from last week with Beyonce in it and I googled Beyonce and this page showed up. So this is how I stumbled across this garbage talk. I am only as prejudiced as the “Experts” say I have to be, since apparently one can’t be prejudiced free… I am appalled at how hateful people are on here. It makes me sad for our country.
