Will “Norbit” ruin Eddie Murphy’s chance at an Oscar?
Eddie Murphy is the odds-on favorite to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, but now some Oscar voters might be changing their ballots because of Murphy’s ridiculous-looking new comedy, “Norbit.” According to the L.A. Times, the over-the-top “Norbit,” in which Murphy exploits racial stereotypes (and not just black ones) might not be a fitting follow-up to his “Dreamgirls” role. “Every time I pass that billboard, it makes me sick,” says an Oscar consultant. And worse yet, is the fact that “Norbit” is drawing fire from black activists who don’t understand why yet another black male comedian has to play yet another morbidly obese black woman.

Funny, when I saw the preview for this, I said to myself, WHY OH WHY didnt he wait until after the Academy Awards for this movie to come out?? I agree completely with voters….do not vote for him!

I’m really surprise people are making a big deal of this. Eddie Murphy has always been a comedian before anything else. Quite a few actors have played roles in other movies that were not Oscar worthy roles. That did not stop them from getting an Oscar when they did play a role that deserved it. It’s just comedy people. The fact of the matter his role in Dreamgirls was excellent base him getting the award on that not on future or past movies. That’s not fair.

Funny… If Peter O’ Toole hasn’t won an Oscar yet despite making so many films….Eddie Murphy definitely doesn’t deserve one yet….
