Beyonce Delayed Her Album Release To Let Adele’s “25” Shine

Friendly or patronizing? You be the judge!

Beyonce has a brand new record on the way, but sources suggest she delayed the release in order to allow Adele‘s 25 to shine. Now, I gotta say, I’m torn. I definitely think this was a good move on Beyonce’s part, but not because she might take away listeners. Honestly, I think Adele’s much-anticipated hype may have hampered BEY’s success more than it would hurt Adele’s. Beyonce’s a powerhouse, but in my humble opinion…Adele’s a legend.

While the superstar was reportedly ready to release her sixth album at the close of 2015, sources have suggested the star stuck to a ‘code’ by allowing Adele to have her share of the spotlight with her first album in four years.

‘It was wrapped up at the end of 2015 but she held off on a release as a code of honour to Adele, so their records didn’t clash,’ an insider has alleged to The Sun.

‘Beyonce doesn’t have the pressure of releasing an album and is doing bits here and there because she and her team know it is Adele’s time to shine. The last few months have been all about her comeback.

Adele has broken a string of records with her third album, with the debut single Hello spending its first 10 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

‘Now Adele’s sales are starting to die down, Beyonce is ready to drop her album at any time. But there’s a very strong chance the announcement could happen during the Super Bowl next month,’ the insider has added of Beyonce’s plan.

Smart move, but I like how her reasoning makes her seem more humble and co-oporative than she probably is. I guess we’ll see which album is better/sells more when Bey’s drops…

Who do you think is the better artist? Bey or Adele?

A Pseudo-Friends Reunion Happened Yesterday!

Plus some Big Bang Theory people. Does that count as a reunion? Obvi, liquor was involved.

While a Friends reunion has always been in the works, it wasn’t as conventional as most of us thought (no TV special, anyway). This pic is about the closest thing anyone has to a reunion, which honestly, is enough for me.

Johnny Galecki posted this pic to instagram of the Friends and Big Bang cast, who  sat at the same table and said words together at NBC’s tribute to James Burrows which taped in L.A. Matthew Perry was  in London doing some play, so he couldn’t make it, which means it’s also an incomplete reunion, but a reunion nonetheless!

Macklemore Says He Didn’t Mean To Put Fellow White Artists On Blast

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis dropped White Privilege II, and they took no prisoners when it came to calling out cultural appropriation!

The song calls out fellow artists Iggy Azalea and Miley Cyrus pretty explicitly for taking from the black community and culture. Iggy immediately responded (surprise surprise) but Miley’s stayed mum.

Still…the Thrift Shop rapper says he didn’t mean to diss either artist. He told Rolling Stone:

“For me, that second verse is unpacking. It’s an unpacking moment of internalized criticism and self-doubt, and ‘What have I done,’ and letting the criticism infiltrate who I am. ‘Why am I insecure at a protest?’ And I think that people get put into boxes, and the conversation around cultural appropriation — I was at the forefront of that, rightfully so. And that conversation also included Miley Cyrus and Iggy Azalea, and that’s why their names are on the record.”

But using Miley and Iggy’s names as shorthand for cultural appropriation isn’t really about YOU, is it, Macklemore?

In all actuality, Macklemore seems fine taking some criticism for starting a conversation:

“So if I’m put on blast, critiqued, broken down, questioned — all those things will happen, and they are completely valid. That’s part of the design of the conversation. If there’s a bigger teachable moment through this record, at the expense of me potentially being like, ‘Oh, I should have said this,’ or ‘I shouldn’t have said this,’ or ‘I see where that criticism is coming from,’ that’s OK.”

Shade was thrown, dude, shade. Was. Thrown.
