This is the FIRST TIME either of them have talked about the wedding.

TMZ has obtained a photo of Tony Romo, down on one knee, at the moment he proposed to his now fiancée, Candice Crawford.

Romo popped the question during Candice’s 24th birthday party on Thursday night.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is engaged to Candice Crawford, his rep confirms to UsMagazine.com exclusively.

Dating since September 2009, Romo, 30, proposed to Crawford (a one-time Miss Missouri and sister to Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford) in Dallas on Thursday, her 24th birthday.

Romo, who broke his collarbone in October and hasn’t played since, dated Jessica Simpson for nearly two years; he ended their relationship in July 2009, the night before her 29th birthday. Before Simpson, he also romanced Carrie Underwood and actress Sophia Bush.

After her ugly split with Romo, Simpson found love again with Eric Johnson, who used to play in the NFL, this May. They became engaged in November — just a week after Nick Lachey, Simpson’s ex-husband, confirmed his engagement to Vanessa Minnillo after four years of dating.

Jessica Simpson and boyfriend Tony Romo stepped out together Saturday night.

The two joined her sister Ashlee and parents Joe and Tina for a pre-Easter dinner at Eva Longoria Parker‘s restaurant, Beso, in West Hollywood.

“You look gorgeous tonight, Jessica,” a photographer told her. “Thank you,” she replied.

As Joe exited the restaurant, photographers asked him whether they were celebrating Jessica’s engagement to Romo. He smiled and replied, “It’s Easter.”

Over the weekend, Jessica also sent her fans an encouraging message on her official fan site.

She wrote:

“Why do we let the sun SET with its beauty, then find ourselves ugly.

Didn’t God, whoever he may be to you, create both? If a sunset is beautiful, then so are we.
