Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and more at the Billboard Music Awards!

Katy Perry won a major award last night at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, NV. She picked up the Spotlight Award for matching Michael Jackson’s record five No. 1 singles off one album.

Teenage Dream spun off the No. 1 Hot 100 hits “California Gurls” (featuring Snoop Dogg), “Teenage Dream,” “E.T.” (featuring Kanye West), “Firework” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).” The singer nabbed yet another No. 1 this year, with “Part of Me,” the first single off the special edition album Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection.

Perry also performed her new single, ‘Wide Awake’ on the BBMA stage. The song was written for her upcoming 3D film, Katy Perry: Part of Me.

Taylor Swift won Billboard’s Woman of the Year, and was presented with her award by Zooey Deschanel.

Billboard also honored the late Whitney Houston, with a tribute performed by John Legend and Jordin Sparks. Jordin starred alongside Whitney in the singer’s last film, “Sparkle”. Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, accepted the Billboard Millennium Award on her mother’s behalf.

“I just really want to say thank you to everyone who supported us through it all,” she said. “Not just when it was good, but when it was bad too … Thank you so much for showing that much love, because she deserved it.”

There was another tribute last night, and that was performed by Natasha Bedingfield. The singer paid tribute to Donna Summer, who past away from cancer last week.

On a lighter note, Alicia Keys honored Stevie Wonder with the Billboard Icon Award. The duo performed a medley of Wonder’s hits, “Higher Ground” and “Overjoyed.” But before getting off the stage, the pair had one more surprise in store. With a little encouragement from Wonder, who recently celebrated his 62nd birthday and had one wish for the soulful songstress, Keys belted out the chorus of Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind.”

Taylor Swift Dating Foster The People Frontman?

Taylor Swift went on a romantic lunch date with Foster The People frontman Mark Foster!

On May 17th,  Swift was spotted in a big hat and leaving alone from what looked like an intimate little lunch with Foster.  Though they tried to maintain this confidential affair, they were spotted!

Foster, who has been attached to actress Michelle Trachtenberg,  better do right by 22-year-old Swift.  If not, she might write a song about it.  Am I right?  Just ask Mr. Jon Mayer!

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez Bake Cupcakes Together

Did you know that Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are BFFS? Well, they are! And sometimes best friends need a little downtime together, especially when they’re mega-famous.

Gomez, 19, decided to invite Swift and some other friends over on Thursday, just to hang out and take a break from their busy lives.  Gomez says that this chill time is important,  “because you need a best friend that’s sings beautifully, another best friend to dance with you and another to listen. Oh and cupcakes… Cupcakes,” she wrote.

Selena and Taylor posted photos and tweeted about their silliness, Huffington Post reports.  We love to hear about these busy stars eatin’ some carbs and relaxing for a change!

Taylor Swift in talks to play Joni Mitchell in new movie (how is this possible?)

Rumor has it Taylor Swift is eyeing the role of Joni Mitchell in a new Sony Pictures adaptation of Sheila Weller’s book “Girls Like Us”.

If Taylor lands the role, it would be the singer’s first lead role.

Pic examines the careers of singers Mitchell, Carly Simon and Carole King. Swift does not have an official offer, but has been linked to the Mitchell role for several months as other actresses have auditioned to play Simon and King, including Alison Pill (“Midnight in Paris”) for the latter singer.

“House” exec producer Katie Jacobs, who optioned the book several years ago, is directing from a script by John Sayles. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (“Transformers”) is set to produce the Sony pic, which has not yet been greenlit, though it is tentatively skedded to start production later this year when the three leads’ schedules allow for filming.

Swift, who’s currently featured on “The Hunger Games” soundtrack, made her feature acting debut in ensemble rom-com “Valentine’s Day,” and recently voiced a role in Universal’s “The Lorax.” Before that, she appeared as herself in the 2009 Miley Cyrus vehicle “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”

Please tell me I’m not alone in thinking this is terrible news. If Taylor gets this role, then all I’m going to see is Kristen Wiig playing Taylor on ‘SNL’ (video below). From what I’ve seen of Taylor’s acting chops (‘Valentine’s Day’) the girl can’t act worth beans. Unless she’s acting surprised…. she’s pretty good at that.

President Obama Still Not a Kanye Fan (Likes Jay-Z Better!)

Looks like President Barack Obama is sticking to his presidential guns!

If you may recall,  two years ago President Obama let a personal opinion slip before an interview with ABC’s Nightline.  In the exchange, he called Kanye West a “jackass,” in lieu of his interruption of Taylor Swift‘s speech  at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Recently,  EOnline asked which rapper the leader of the free world preferred-  Kanye or Jay-Z- and he said Jay-Z!  Surprised? Not really.  President Obama responded, “I like Kanye. He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented.” After being gently reminded of his aforementioned Jackass comment,  the President went on to add, “He is a jackass…But he’s talented.”

Way to stick to old dings, Mr. President!  Will Kanye give a rebuttal? We shall see!

VIDEO: Taylor Swift debuts “Eyes Open”, her song from “The Hunger Games” soundtrack!

During Taylor Swift’s sold-out show in New Zealand on Sunday, Taylor perform her song “Eyes Open”, which will appear on ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack.

“You don’t think I’d get in trouble if I played it now?” Taylor asked her fans. “Probably not, right?”

While the recorded version of “Eyes Open” has a seriously badass rock edge, Taylor’s live version is stripped down and sits comfortably in the country-pop category she’s known for. Seated on a beautiful couch, Tay strums her guitar as she sings about Katniss’ harrowing ordeal and/or a lost childhood: “Yesterday we were just/ Children playing soldiers/ Just pretending/ Dreaming dreams with happy endings.” I guess the only thing left to do is issue a warning to my friends and family to stay the eff away from me until I see this movie. I’m seriously losing my mind with anticipation.

Listen to the song below!

Here are some new pictures of Taylor arriving back in Los Angeles after performing in New Zealand. (Fame/Flynet)
