16-year-old Connor Cruise, adopted son of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman has decided to rebel against the Church of Scientology – the religion he was raised under.
Connor sent tongues wagging when he showed up at the TeenNick HALO Awards wearing a symbol of Jesus Christ around his neck. Scientologists are allowed to celebrate Christmas but the wearing of such religious symbol is not in the rule book.
“He’s starting to rebel against his father and the other components in his life, maybe even Scientology,” reveals a source. “He wants to be independent…but Tom doesn’t want to want to give up control over his son.”
Connor also seems to be suffering from “middle child syndrome” as he is having a hard time dealing with the fact that Suri Cruise is receiving most of his father’s attention and he is sick of being tied down by his extremely strict father.
“Tom is always off doing his thing, [when Connor was younger], working like a madman. He travelled all the time, and was totally focused on his career. When he came home, he didn’t always have much time left to give. Connor is at a crossroads in his life. He’s been pushing for more freedom – he wants to drive a car and date whomever he chooses,” says the source.

Katie Holmes showed off her bikini body over the weekend in Miami while on a beach trip with daughter Suri.
Suri, 5, played in the sand, and eventually the water with mom Katie right by her side.
At one point, the fashionable tot squealed in delight when the waves knocked the actress, 32, off her feet.
The mother-daughter duo were enjoying some quality time together while Tom Cruise, 48, is in town to film his new movie Rock of Ages with Julianne Hough, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Malin Akerman and Mary J. Blige.
Holmes is eager to see her husband’s portrayal of fictional rocker Stacee Jaxx in the flick, based off the hit Broadway musical. “[Tom] is such an amazing performer,” Holmes recently told Access Hollywood. “His voice is incredible.”

Katie Holmes has hired her 18-year-old stepdaughter Isabella Cruise as an apprentice at the actress’s Holmes & Yang clothing line!
Dad Tom Cruise couldn’t hold his excitement back at a tribute dinner in his honor in Los Angeles.
“Kate’s designing and [Isabella] is just working her way up,” Cruise told People.
“She’s an artist, Bella, so it’s really great that she gets to work with it,” the proud dad continued. “She’s loving it.” While Katie and son Connor were on hand to watch Tom receive the Humanitarian Award that night at the Beverly Wilshire, Bella was on her way back from the Big Apple, where’s she been learning the ropes of the biz.
