Wow, Sarah Jessica Parker is everywhere right now! While currently promoting her new movie ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’, she stopped by a Manolo Blahnik event last night for Fashion’s Night Out in NYC. The actress was on hand to sign shoes for charity.
You can take the girl out of Sex And The City, but you can’t take Sex And The City out of the girl! While Sarah Jessica Parker has always insisted she is very different from her iconic character Carrie Bradshaw – there’s one thing they’ve always had in common – a love for shoes. And last night, a leather-clad Parker celebrated her love of footwear as she teamed up with Manolo Blahnik for Fashion’s Night Out in New York.
The mother-of-three arrived at the footwear designer’s Midtown Manhattan boutique in an stylish brown leather dress and white stilettos that would have made her TV alter-ego proud. Parker was the star attraction of the event to celebrate Fashion’s Night Out where she signed pairs of high-heels she co-designed with Blahnik.
As well as signing regular autographs for fans, she also got a treat when someone presented the blue pair of buckled Manolo pumps, similar to ones worn by Carrie in the first Sex And The City film when she married Mr Big in City Hall.
Proceeds of sales from last night’s event went to the Fund for Public Schools – a cause close to Parker’s heart.
Blahnik also arranged for a one-off Manolo milkshake truck to cruise the nearby streets selling shakes, with the proceeds also going to the same charity.
Meanwhile, Parker has been speaking about how she balances her career and motherhood while promoting her new film I Don’t Know How She Does It.
She said: ‘It’s complicated and it’s basically everything I ever wanted. It’s most difficult at the most surprising moments. You plan to be away and it’s a finite period of time and you can make sense of it and then something happens and you have to leave unexpectedly, say to go out for a work thing, that you didn’t plan and all of a sudden that’s the moment that breaks you. It’s surprising the things that are painful or the things that you feel the most conflict about, or these measures of guilt that show up. It’s like Jenga. It’s a house of cards.’ (Daily Mail)
What do you think of her leather dress?

Sarah Jessica Parker has certainly kept busy after leaving her role as Carrie Bradshaw on the much-adored TV series “Sex and the City.” Between raising three children, working for Halston and keeping a healthy onscreen career, the 46-year-old actress says her life these days is “like a ship avoiding icebergs.”
On being a mom and raising three children:
“Like a ship avoiding icebergs” is how she cheerfully describes the running of her life. “The internal lists, the children’s doctor’s appointments, the letters to write, the school projects. . . .” At night she lies in bed and does what she calls every mom’s “strategic planning” for the day ahead: “What you have to do and how to get the kids from A to B, and whatever is required of you at your work. And maybe you can toss in friendships that need to be attended to. . . . The thing that’s most surprising to me is how much we do in a day.”
They have three nannies, but she says they’re “pretty hands-on parents”:
“It’s a pretty simple setup,” she says of the domestic situation she shares with her husband, Matthew Broderick. There’s a nanny for their toddler twins, Loretta and Tabitha, and someone else to help with the logistics of eight-year-old James Wilkie’s schedule. “We don’t have any live-in help. We’re pretty hands-on parents. That’s something that’s important to both of us, and we don’t shirk it, because what’s the point in having a family if you’re not going to really participate in it, you know?”
On Carrie Bradshaw vs. her Kate in her new movie, ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’:
“I loved the part, and I can obviously relate to Kate,” says Parker. “I tried to make myself look more presentable today”—in fact, she is the picture of mommy chic in a yellow silk Gerard Darel sundress, a loose-weave striped sweater, flat pumps, a Chloé handbag, and large Chanel sunglasses—“but the odds of not being, when I leave the house in the morning, are pretty high.” All the evidence points otherwise: Parker has developed a genius for pulling together glamorous and appropriate looks for every hour of her day, but the truth is, she doesn’t identify herself with Carrie the way everyone else does. “Bradshaw’s life is nothing—nothing—like mine,” she says. “I loved playing her, and it changed my life in lots of wonderful ways, but I’m not a crazy shoe lady, I don’t think about fashion all day long, although I have a great respect for the industry. Every choice we’ve made has been different, but with Kate I really understood the attempt at a life.”
On being stalked by paparazzi:
“You do start to understand the behind-the-gate mentality, the getting in the car in your driveway,” she says as she pours herself tea, “but I can’t imagine living in seclusion. We flirted with it. We went outside the city and troubled all these Realtors and stood in these homes and fantasized, and then I kept picturing nine o’clock at night and”—she breaks into mime, drumming her fingers on her crossed knees and staring into the middle distance. “The beautiful thing about New York is, you have to expose yourself to other people the minute you step outside the door. There is no choice. And I love that.” Plus, of course, there’s the cultural life. Broderick, a born-and-bred New Yorker, works mostly on Broadway. Next spring he will star in Nice Work if You Can Get It, directed by Kathleen Marshall. As for Parker, “If I didn’t have kids,” she says, “I would be at the theater or the ballet every single night of my life.”
On her work ethic, what she calls her “fatal flaw”:
“It’s kind of all I’ve known,” she says, laughing as she adds, “I’m a bitter-ender. It’s potentially my fatal flaw that I do not give up on something. I will not rest. I work and work and work until I can no longer and someone has to remove me from the premises.”

Really Sarah? Really?
Here’s to hoping that they DON’T decide to tell another ‘Sex and the City’ story, because the last movie was absolutely ridiculous. I adored the show when it was on HBO, and I even loved the first SATC movie. But the second? It was a joke. A third? Methinks that’s a terrible idea.
Since Sarah Jessica Parker’s pop-culture legacy is so tied to her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw on “Sex and the City” and its two movies, whenever MTV News has the opportunity to chat with the actress, we have to get an update on the beloved series.
Thankfully, we caught up with Parker at the Cannes Film Festival and asked her to comment on the rumors about a “SATC” prequel, as well as her thoughts on returning to the famed role of Ms. Bradshaw one more time.
“I think it always comes down to story and what is the story people want to tell,” Bradshaw said of the rumored adaptations of “The Carrie Diaries.” “Obviously, I feel proprietary in the best possible way about that entire franchise as it were, but I think there are lots of talented storytellers and obviously lots of talented actors who might be a part of it. I think, like anything, you base your opinion on material and content, and I think that would be the only way for any of us to have an opinion.”
Regarding a future “SATC” installment, be it on the big screen or small, Parker revealed that there might be another tale to tell.
“I think there is perhaps one more small, important story to tell,” she said. “Whether or not we choose to do that and when we choose to do that remains, obviously, the unknown, but it’s nice to ponder.”
One more story, huh? We mentioned that it sounded like Parker has that specific story in her head.
“I don’t, but somebody else does,” she said with a knowing smile.
All together now – nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
On the other hand – I’m totally excited for the SATC prequel! Can’t wait for that!

Sarah Jessica Parker showed up at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of ‘Wu Xia’ wearing a beautiful Elie Saab dress. Thank God it’s not as awful as her last red carpet dress, I’m not even sure what she was thinking.
I think this dress is actually really pretty.
