Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Have Gotten Married

Neil Patrick Harris and his long-time partner David Burtka have officially tied the knot in Italy. Congratulations to them on their nuptials!

Harris uploaded the above photo onto his Twitter account with the caption: “Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the ‘n’ and ‘d’ in ‘husband’.”

How sweet!

One of the tabloids better jump on this one so that we can see some good pictures of the ceremony and everything else. I wonder if little Harper was the flower girl and Gideon the ring bearer? We need pictures, people…STAT!!

How Neil Patrick Harris ‘Re-Fell’ in Love with David Burtka

68th Annual Tony Awards

Neil Patrick Harris is very frank about how his relationship has changed with his fiancé, David Burtka, over the years, admitting that the honeymoon stage has definitely ended – as they all do.  That doesn’t spell the end of a relationship however, and for them, starting a family allowed them to ‘re-fall’ in love.

“Having kids was one of those great moments for me. Watching David become another level of person, mastering this other domain, made me look at him with a whole other set of appreciative eyes. That made me re-fall in love with him.”

The two have 3 1/2 year-old twins, Harper Grace and Gideon Scott.

“That’s another important thing to realize. Everyone falls out of love with everything. You fall out of love with your house. You fall out of love with your job. You just have to figure out ways to keep [the love] alive.”

Harris is currently starring in Broadway’s Hedwig and the Angry Itch – which he received a Tony for.  He will also be in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl which will be in theaters in October.

Neil Patrick Harris Talks ‘Gone Girl’

The 68th Annual Tony Awards

Who’s excited to see Gillian Flynn’s ‘Gone Girl,’ due out in theaters this October?  The book is so messed up, and yet I couldn’t put it down.  Many readers HATED the ending- but apparently David Fincher is switching things up at the end.  I’m not sure how I feel about that… I guess it depends on how it’s done.  Books to movies are always tricky.

That all aside… Neil Patrick Harris, best known for playing the fabulous Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother, plays Desi Collings in the film, an ex-boyfriend of Amy Dunne’s, played by Rosamund Pike.  If you haven’t seen the trailer, you can find it here.

In a recent interview with EW Radio:

Harris, who has seen an unfinished version of the film, promises that it’s “as unsettling as the book”—though he doesn’t really get why he creeped people out in the trailer just by standing in a doorway. Regardless, Harris is very happy that he took the part, one that Fincher himself offered him over lunch.

The film is set to open New York Film Fest in September.  Not going to lie… I’m pretty excited.  I was originally nervous about Ben Affleck playing Nick Dunne, but in seeing the previews- I sort of think he’s going to nail it.  So creepy good.

Neil Patrick Harris is naked for ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine

Neil Patrick Harris is naked for 'Rolling Stone' magazine

Neil Patrick Harris is naked on the cover of the latest issue of “Rolling Stone” magazine. Part of me wants to say “Go NPH GO!” while the other says “Oh Doogie, put some clothes on!”

From Us Weekly:

The cover shot, taken by famed, edgy photographer Terry Richardson, shows Harris’ impressive abs and long, lithe body, which is now 21 pounds lighter thanks to his preparation for Hedwig. “I need to eat more,” he confessed in the accompanying article. “That’s becoming apparent. I’m so intent on looking feminine, on changing my silhouette. But I’m running out of energy, and it’s affecting my mood.”

Femininity is actually something the 40-year-old How I Met Your Mother alum tried to avoid for most of his life. “I have always been highly aware of how I was presenting myself,” he told Rolling Stone, noting that his previous “desire to not seem overly effeminate” seems like a “stupid concern” now that he’s “playing overtly feminine and loving it.”

The former child star, who came out as gay in 2006, says he realized early on that he had “crushes on boys” but didn’t know “how that would be manifested” as he got older. “I think it would be easier to make that leap at that age now, because there are so many examples,” the star, who has two kids (twins Gideon and Harper, 3) with his longtime partner David Burtka, explained. “But not back then, in a tiny town in the middle of the mountains of New Mexico.”

That said, “I wasn’t troubled by it,” he clarified. “Playing footsie with a friend under the table at school was very charged, to me, but I didn’t know then what to do about it.”

His public coming out eight years ago improved both his personal life and, in some ways, his professional life. “Once all cards were on the table, I got more opportunities than ever,” the former Doogie Howser star told the mag. “Some actors don’t get hired because you can’t look into their soul and see what they’re like, because they’re kept guarded.”

Harris doesn’t have that problem. “I do think it’s important to take ownership of those type of things. I’m intoxicated and turned on by people who are really honest about themselves,” he explained. “And so the coming-out process, given that, is a great move. Because people know that you’re sexual and that’s who you like, and you’re not guarded and sketchy and awkward.”

He continued: “No one likes an awkward lay. You want to lay someone who wants to lay you; you want to say who you like and get to lay that person. That’s good sex. You don’t want to lay some girl that you’re supposed to lay, who you don’t like, but you don’t want anyone to know that. Like, neither person is having good sex. You might as well beat off.”
