Kelly Clarkson Is My Hero

Kelly Clarkson Returns To Her London Hotel

Kelly Clarkson keeps her feminism up and bodyshaming DOWN…and we love her for it.

Kelly talks to Redbook about her husband, her weight and culture in this very insightful interview! Here are some highlights:

On husband Brandon Blackstock: “Brandon is not my other half. He’s a whole and I’m a whole. I’ve never believed in someone taking care of me, and that’s probably because I grew up poor and without a lot of family stability.”

On marriage being a huge priority: “I always swore ours would not be a relationship where we have to schedule sex. That is never going to happen. We put each other first. I call it the oxygen-mask mentality—take care of yourself first!”

On her weight: “I don’t obsess about my weight, which is probably one of the reasons why other people have such a problem with it,” she says of her Internet trolls.”There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism–that is not me. I wish I had a better metabolism. But someone else probably wishes they could walk into a room and make friends with everyone like I can. You always want what someone else has.”

I LOVE EVERYTHING SHE SAYS!  For more, pick up the May copy of REDBOOK, on newsstands nationwide on April 21st.

Chris Wallace Apologizes For Offensive Statements About Kelly Clarkson

Celebrities Visit "Good Morning America"

I wish the media would get off of Kelly Clarkson’s back.

After a ton of criticism,  Fox anchor Chris Wallace has issued a public apology to Kelly Clarkson over the offensive fat-shaming comments he made on The Mike Gallagher Show April 3rd.

“I sincerely apologize to Kelly Clarkson for my offensive comment,” Wallace told Us Weekly. “I admire her remarkable talent and that should have been the focus of any discussion about her.”

Both Wallace and host Gallagher surprised everyone when they unabashedly dug the singer and new mom over her weight.

“Have you seen Kelly Clarkson? You know the singer, Kelly Clarkson? Holy cow, did she blow up,” Gallagher said.

Wallace replied, “Really? Do we want to talk about some of your friends? Kelly Clarkson’s got a lovely voice. She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while.”

This isn’t the first time Clarkson has been mocked for her weight by horribly insensitive media affiliates. Last month, Katie Hopkins joked that the American Idol alum looked like she had eaten her backup dancers.  Overall, I think Kelly has taken all this HORRIFIC backlash in stride- with a laugh and a roll of the eye. But she shouldn’t have to- this is really an unacceptable way to treat anyone, in the public eye or otherwise.

Kelly Clarkson Addresses Weight Gain

Celebrities Visit "Good Morning America"

Just another reason Kelly Clarkson is RAD!

The singer is tired of getting slammed for her weight – something she’s actually been contending with since she became famous more than ten years ago. The “Heartbeat Song” singer gave her two cents about vicious Internet trolls during The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday, April 3:

“I love that people think [the topic] is new. Like, welcome to the past 13 years,” Clarkson said of the criticism she’s received over the years. “I was the biggest girl on [American Idol] too. I wasn’t big, but people would call me big. I kind of always got that.” (This time around, Clarkson has been bashed for her post-baby body. She and husband Brandon Blackstock welcomed daughter River Rose in June 2014.)

Indeed, in March the 32-year-old entertainer silenced haters, including snarky British TV personality Katie Hopkins, who questioned if the singer had eaten “all of her backing singers.” Clarkson had the perfect response (“I’m awesome!”), but admitted to DeGeneres that she feels bad for others that have to listen to the nonsense.

“Well it hurts your feelings more if it’s someone else that you like. I think what hurts my feelings for people is that I’ll have a meet and greet after the show and a girl that’s bigger than me will be in the meet and greet and be like, ‘Wow, if they think you’re big I must be so fat to them,'” Clarkson explained to DeGeneres. “And you’re just who you are. We are who we are. Whatever size. And it doesn’t mean that you’re gonna be that way forever.”

Clarkson got a huge cheer from the host and her crowd, and didn’t apologize about her gorgeous, curvaceous figure for one second. (Nor should she!) “I yo-yo,” she said, joking: “Sometimes I’m more fit and I get into kickboxing and hardcore, and then sometimes I don’t and go, ‘Nope, I’d rather have wine!'”

Dang, finally some real life honesty about weight loss, gain and the business. Kelly, we are SO PROUD of you for your confidence, grace and beauty!
