Oscar de la Renta is no stranger to dressing first ladies including Betty Ford, Nancy Reagan, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton…but Michelle Obama seems to be less of a fave of the fashion trailblazer!
Why? It could be because she doesn’t ask him to dress her (I mean, I’m sure it hurts poor Oscars feelings) but another reason may be that de la Renta’s priorities have shifted. De la Renta says he is not worried about not having Obama on his list of celebrity clients because for him, what matters is dressing everyday women.
You know, everyday women with lots of money to spare! Says NYDaily News:
Obama has appeared on many best-dressed lists and De la Renta has been among the few who have criticized her choices, specifically her decision to wear a sweater when she met Queen Elizabeth II in 2009. The designer said that he had said nice things and made the comment to avoid “sounding like a package of sugar.”
“It is a relation that began poorly and I think it will end the same way,” the designer said Friday during a Mexico City fashion gala.
Yikes. Doesn’t sound like de la Renta is trying too hard to get on Michelle’s good side. Guess he doesn’t need to, though: he’s going for the ‘everyday’ lady now, right?
Riiight….

The First Family is sending their season’s greetings with their annual holiday portrait. While President Obama has been in on the campaign trail for a hopeful reelection, he and his wife Michelle along with their daughters 13-year-old Malia and 10-year-old Sasha looked more than happy just being at home with the family.

President Obama and the First Lady stopped by Buckinham Palace to meet with the newlywed Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who are just back from their Seychelles honeymoon!
The Obamas are currently touring overseas.
According to PEOPLE, Prince William and Kate Middleton briefly spoke with President and Michelle Obama, before they headed to a special luncheon hosted by Queen Elizabeth.
It is believed the couples talked about the recent Royal Wedding, and the Brit’s upcoming California visit, scheduled for July.
However, though they are certainly worldwide celebrities, Will and Kate are not working members of the Royal Family and were not present on the steps of Buckingham Palace to officially greet the American President and First Lady with the Queen.
They were also absent from the special luncheon and will not attend tonight’s State Banquet, where over 200 royals and dignitaries will gather for dinner.
Will and Kate recently returned from their honeymoon in the Seychelles, which is said to have cost $700,000.

PETA is pulling an ad campaign that used First Lady Michelle Obama without her permission.
The animal rights group had used photos of Obama — along with other celebrities, including Carrie Underwood, Oprah Winfrey and Tyra Banks — in an anti-fur ad called “Fur-Free and Fabulous.”
Although Obama has refused to wear real fur, the White House maintained that PETA never received authorization from her to use her image in the ad, which ran on Washington, D.C.-area Metro stations and on the organization’s website.
Last week, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk insisted her organization wouldn’t have sought Obama’s consent for the ad because it knows that she can’t make such an endorsement.
“The fact is that Michelle Obama has issued a statement indicating that she doesn’t wear fur, and the world should know that in PETA’s eyes, that makes her pretty fabulous,” she said in a press statement.
Meanwhile, PETA is urging the White House to take a stand against the Ringling Bros. circus, which recently showcased a performing elephant named Baby Barack.
In a letter to President Barack Obama, Newkirk urged the White House to demand a name change.
“Baby Barack is not even a year old, but his curious and energetic childhood has been cut tragically short while Ringling attempts to profit from your popularity by putting him on the road to perform in the circus,” Newkirk wrote.
