Madonna goes glam at the Venice Film Festival premiere of her movie ‘W.E.’

Madonna hit the red carpet last night in a custom baby blue Vionnet gown. Her red butterfly embellished dress was complemented by red glitter Miu Miu sunglasses.

The movie’s star, Abbie Cornish looks absolutely stunning in a Atelier Versace Spring 2011 gown. Marisa Tomei looks gorgeous in a dress by Erdem.

I’m kind of impressed with Madonna’s look! She looks really pretty! Usually she opts for such dark clothing. It’s nice to see her lighten it up a bit!

Unfortunately, her movie, ‘W.E.’ is already being panned by critics.

Madonna may be the “queen of pop,” but her crown as movie director slipped this week after most early reviews of her second feature film “W.E.” ranged from middling to poor.

The picture, which had its world premiere at the Venice film festival on Thursday, is loosely based on the life of American divorcee Wallis Simpson, whose affair with Kind Edward VIII led to his abdication.

Madonna said she had been fascinated by the story for some time, pondering why a man would make such a huge sacrifice for love.

Andrea Riseborough stars as Simpson and Abbie Cornish as a modern-day woman who becomes obsessed with the person who prompted a constitutional crisis in 1936.

Britain’s Guardian newspaper did not spare Madonna’s feelings with a one-out-of-five star review.

“Could it be that Madonna is in deadly earnest here?” wrote Xan Brooks.

“If so, her film is more risible than we had any right to expect; a primped and simpering folly, the turkey that dreamed it was a peacock.”

Others were less damning, although the general tone was negative and one website quipped that it may be time for the 53-year-old singer to abdicate as a film maker.

Todd McCarthy of the Hollywood Reporter opined: “Madonna’s second foray into directing is pleasing to the eyes and ears, but lacking anything for the soul.”

The budget of W.E. is estimated to be around $15 million, and it hits movie theatres in North America in December.

I’m not a huge fan of Madonna on film. Either behind the camera – or in front. I’m not sure who’s giving her money to direct movies. Maybe she’s fronting it herself?

Madonna Bought $75,000 Machine to Battle Cellulite

It’s no secret that celebrities will go to great lengths to turn back the hands of time and reverse the aging process, so it should come to no surprise that it was discovered that pop sensation Madonna reportedly purchased a $75,000 acoustic eave therapy machine to battle cellulite. The soon-to-be 53-year-old iconic singer allegedly uses the machine twice a week and records her thigh measurements, and according to a source Madonna flips out if her measurements are off by even one inch.

Madonna is so fixated on her cellulite that it has destroyed her relationship with her longtime exercise guru, Tracy Anderson.

“Tracy grew to dread the early-morning phone calls from Madonna ranting about what a useless trained she was,” according to one of Tracy’s pals.”Madonna would threaten to fire her, and Tracy had to talk her down each time.”

“The measuring and ranting used to drive her ex-husband Guy [Ritchie] crazy,” reports the insider. “He would mock her and joke that he noticed a few dimples, which he thought was tremendously funny, but she obviously didn’t.”

I’ll stick with squats and lunges, thanks.

Lady Gaga opens up about fame, an acting career and whether she feels she’s copying Madonna.

Lady Gaga lands the August cover of The Advocate. In the long article (which you can read in full here) she talks about the LGBT community, and how she’s fighting for gay rights.

Through skepticism and criticism, pop superstar Lady Gaga remains one of the most outspoken advocates for LGBT equality today. She’s been accused of not being gay enough to claim one of the letters the aforementioned acronym, and critics say her activism is superficial, but through it all her devotion to supporting marriage equality, fighting the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, and increasing AIDS awareness remains strong. The Advocate’s Jeremy Kinser spoke with Lady Gaga about her activism, her critics, and her music. Lady Gaga immediately sounded off against some of the skeptics.

On using the gay community to sell records:

“To say that I would use the gay community to sell records is probably one of the most ridiculous statements anyone can make about me,” Gaga states with a hint of frustration in her voice. “I would say the top thing I think about every single day of my life, other than my fans, loving the music, and my family being healthy, is social justice and equality.”

On her critics:

“Rumors, shots at me as a human being, that’s what comes with the territory of being a musician and being someone who is a public figure,” Gaga confesses. “I care only about what I can change. What can I push forward? How can I be a part of the fight for modern social issues?”

On going up against mega-retailer, Target:

Lady Gaga put her money where her mouth was, however, in a recent controversy with mega-retailer Target. The company was set to sell a special edition of Gaga’s album Born This Way, but many LGBTs expressed indignation at the deal after Target came under fire when the company’s corporate PAC made campaign contributions to support antigay candidate Tom Emmer in his failed 2010 run for governor of Minnesota. After the outcry, Gaga met with the company’s “entire executive staff” and soon thereafter canceled the deal.

“You’re either going to try and change or you’re not,” Gaga recalls of the meeting, in which she insisted Target ally itself with LGBT charities and organizations. And, while terms of the deal were not made public, they did not satisfy the singer.

“Taking an ambiguous stance is not what I’m about, obviously. I like to go right for the ass-kicker. You’re either in or you’re out. I’m from New York. I know bullsh-t. I can smell it from a mile away.”

On why her fans are obsessed with her:

“I don’t know exactly,” she says simply. For a woman so frequently called upon to explain her looks, her videos, her sensibilities, her response is surprisingly unselfconscious. But a flair for the dramatic takes over. Rather than answer, she tells a story about a 20-something gay serviceman she met at Best Buy last night. “He was afraid that he would be discharged and that he would be judged or found out. [He said] that the fight in America against ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ and the fight for equality made him feel stronger and made him feel safe, and he gave me his service jacket.” Gaga is silent for a moment. “And we just held each other and cried. Anyone who says that I’m not genuine is not interested in overcoming this fight. That was such a pure and wonderful moment that we shared, and I remember thinking, There’s no album sale, no number 1, that could compete with this moment. That is what the fuck it’s all about. What the fuck it’s all about is if I can write one song that could change one person’s life.”

On “copying” Madonna:

“There’s no drama, there’s no jealousy, there’s no competition,” she says. “They’re just happy to see other women winning. I just feel so connected to Madonna in a lot of ways, and I feel connected to Barbra, and I feel connected to Cher and Blondie and all of the women who came before me.”

Born This Way: “I would say that’s precisely what Born This Way is all about. It’s not about just being born in one moment; it’s about being reborn over and over again until you find and become that unique and special person inside of you that is the most brave and the most sure and the most ready to take on the world,” she says. “And I was born this way. And that’s who I am. Some people weren’t born to wear masks, but I was. I was born to wear masks and wigs and fashion. To express myself through my clothing and my performance art, and that’s who I am. And the song is meant to be liberating not only from an individual perspective but from a creative perspective.”

On starting an acting career:

“I don’t know,” she tells me. “Maybe someday. Right now I’m just really focused on this record. I really love making music. I know that sounds crazy, but I’m obsessed…obsessed with music. I’m just really enjoying making albums right now.”

On the pressure of being famous:

“I believe I was destined to be an artist,” she says. “At the end of the day I could be rolling around in Rolls-Royces, buying mansions for myself, making records, and dancing around in my underwear. But to be honest, I’m not interested in doing that at all. I’d rather be at rallies with the fans, being a part of their voice, helping to mobilize and enforce change. If people don’t believe me, they don’t have to be a part of it.”

Madonna and her boy toy Brahim Zaibat leave together from the Ritz Hotel in Paris

Madonna and her 24-year-old boyfriend Brahim Zaibat stepped out of their hotel in Paris over the weekend.

Friday night Madonna and Zaibat headed straight to a lavish dinner at Paris’ top-rated Ritz restaurant, L’Espadon…but People.com reports that the French getaway wasn’t all pleasure, as Saturday evening Madonna brought Zaibat to dinner with colleagues such as Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci and model Mariacarla Boscono, who played roles in helping the Material Girl develop her wardrobe for her last tour.

And while Madonna and Zaibat are said to have partied into the oui hours of the night at Paris’ super-club, the VIP Room, middle-aged Madge was up bright and early the following day hitting a flea market tout seul.

Reports suggest that breakup between Madonna and Zaibat back in May was fabricated because, really what cute French dancer would mind being wooed by a multi-millionaire, power-player woman who just happens to be Madonna?

Do you think it’s creepy that Maddona is dating someone half her age? At 52 – Maddona and Brahim are 28 years apart!

NEW PICS: Madonna still dating 24-year-old Brahim Zaibat!

Madonna and her boyfriend Brahim Zaibat arrived together at the Ritz Hotel in the ‘City of Lights’, France.

When asked about his relationship with Madonna, Brahim has said:

“It all started on September 22nd (2010) at the launch of Madonna’s new ready-to-wear clothing range. My mate Norman, who danced for her and who became her personal trainer, asked me to dance at the evening. I performed a solo to Material Girl. Then I met Madonna on the sidelines, and she just thanked me for my show. It wasn’t like meeting a monster! She’s just a woman like all the others. She’s an extraordinary artist and world famous, of course, but a woman above all. You know she wasn’t the first well known female singer I’d met. I was delighted to meet her but not stressed out.”

Madonna looks stunning (?) in blue satin Stella McCartney dress!

Do my eyes deceive me? Does Madonna look beautiful? She looks soft, and feminine! She doesn’t look harsh, or ripped, or veiny, or like she’s had a ton of work on her face (which she has). She actually looks great!

She stepped out in a beautiful blue satin dress by Stella McCartney (the designer of the night perhaps?). The dress was embellished with silver stars, and an elegant train.

What do you think? Love it or hate it?

PS: Madonna’s date was her manager, Guy Oseary.
