Madonna sat down with the Today show to open up about her new album, being a single mom of four, and recent pictures that showed Lourdes smoking a cigarette.
She admits she “wasn’t happy” to see her 15-year-old daughter smoking, and admits that while she feels like she’s a tough parent, obviously she needs to be “tougher”.
In a “Rock Center with Brian Williams” interview previewed on the “Today” show on Wednesday, the Queen of Pop says she doesn’t “think I’m as tough as I should be.”
“It’s hard; every day is a negotiation,” Madonna notes. “But cigarette smoking I’m not very fond of — for anyone.”
She continues, “I don’t approve of anyone smoking cigarettes — most of all my daughter.”
Of her own smoking in music videos, Madonna says “there’s a difference,” since she uses cigarettes as “an accessory.”
Madonna also says it’s “pretty challenging” to be a “single mom of four” and live her life “in a metaphorical fish bowl.”
“But so far I’ve survived with sanity and humor in tact,” the singer adds.
Diet Coke has just unveiled a new line of bottles, and one is inspired by Madonna’s famous cone bra!
Designer Jean Paul Gaultier, the designer who created the iconic 1990 outfit, has been appointed the creative director of Diet Coke.
His first order of business was to create the new bottles, showing of the styles of Madonna, and one of his own with white and blue stripes.
The cream-colored Madonna bottle, which has no official tie to the singer, is painted with a fishnet corset and, of course, cone bra.
Coke has long been a partner to fashion, having worked with Karl Lagerfeld and Dolce and Gabbana in the past, but now the cola brand is taking it a step further, mixing music history and style into one campaign.
Unfortunately for American Madonna fans, the Jean Paul Gaultier bottles are for a European campaign, and therefore won’t be available in the U.S. Watch a TV spot for the new Coke campaign below:
Here are some new pictures of Madonna at the launch of her new fragrance, ‘Truth or Dare’ at Macys in New York City.
Look at that face! Looks like someone filled her head with a bike pump.
Madonna’s latest album, “MDNA” set a new record this week, and it’s not one she’ll be celebrating!
Her album had the biggest second week drop in chart history, according to Forbes. When all the numbers come in tonight, “MDNA” will have fallen from Number 1 with 359,000 albums sold, to 46,000 in the second week. That’s a drop of 88%. Yikes!
The first week’s sales, as I revealed exclusively (and then the New York Post lifted it from us), most of Madonna’s first week sales were CDs that were included in the sale of concert tickets. That promotion artificially inflated Madonna’s numbers, putting her first before Lionel Richie and his “Tuskegee” album. In the second week, Richie fell only 47% and sold about 110,000 albums–which is normal. “Tuskegee” will now finish much higher than “MDNA.”
I do think that all the people involved in the Madonna ticket-CD deal should apologize to Richie for denying him his rightful place at number 1, starting with Billboard and SoundScan. But Richie’s consolation is that he has a major hit, while “MDNA” is a total dud. So far, “MDNA” has not produced anything like a hit single either, no radio play or anything to provide organic promotion. But Madonna’s concert tour with Live Nation will be a big hit, so it’s not like we have to worry about her financial situation.
I have the two-disc album, and I couldn’t even make it through the album one time. I made it almost to the end, but I was so annoyed I had to turn it off. It’s BEYOND BAD. I feel bad, because Madonna’s agency very nicely sent me the album ahead of its release to listen to, and I wish I had something nice to say about it. I just don’t…. it’s dreadful.
Personally, I think Madonna will say or do whatever it takes to get some press.
She is responding to the tweets and comments (read prior post here) made by DJ Deadmau5 about Madonna’s alleged supportive reference to the drug Ecstasy.
Here is what Madonna had to say about the accusations.
“From one mouse to another. I don’t support drug use and I never have.
“I was referring to the song called ‘Have You Seen Molly‘ written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my last album …”
Fun fact: In an Urban Dictionary poll, 61 percent (4,382) out of 7,135 voters agreed the term “Molly” — an abbreviation of molecular (for this purpose) — is indeed a slang name for the drug Ecstasy.
I think Madonna knows exactly what she was saying and what it implied. She is just hungry for the limelight.
Madonna ticked off famous DJ Deadmau5 this weekend during a performance at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Madonna yelled out to the crowd “How many people in this crowd have seen Molly”, which is a reference to MDMA, an ingredient in the drug ecstasy.
Deadmau5 took his Facebook to vent his frustration over her “glamorizing” drug use in an attempt to look hip:
very classy there madonna. “HUR DUR HAS ANYONE SEEN MOLLY???” such a great message for the young music lovers at ultra. quite the f’n philanthropist. but hey, at least yer HIP AND TRENDY! f****** cant smack my head hard enough right now.
i can appriciate her meteoric career, and all good deeds done, but WHAT THE **** WAS THAT? That’s your big contribution to EDM? Thats your big message to ultra attendies? hipsterspeak for looking for drugs?
He then took some time to think things over and posted a pretty long explanation on his Tumblr page. You can read the full post here.
What do you think? Is Madonna trying way too hard to seem “cool”? Was she crossing the line with the drug talk?
Speaking of Deadmau5, didn’t he ROCK the house outside at the Grammy’s with Foo Fighters? That was pretty crazy.
Here’s Madonna’s new music video for her latest single, ‘Girl Gone Wild’.
All I can think is that the video is just plain weird. Madonna’s face is getting to the point where she’s almost to the point of no return. Her cheek “bones” are absolutely ridiculous. Watching the video just made me uncomfortable. Madonna doesn’t look like she did back in the “Vogue” days, and I feel like that’s what she’s trying to do.
Didn’t it look a lot like something Lady Gaga would put together?
Totally unimpressed, but watch it for yourself and let me know what you think!

Singer, actress, dancer and American Idol judge, Jennifer Lopez is shown here leaving Ago restaurant with her much younger boyfriend Casper Smart.
For some reason, it doesn’t seem as creepy to me for Jennifer Lopez to be dating a younger man as it does for Madonna. That just gives me the *shivers*.
