Jesse James’ new girlfriend, Kat Von D, once said she’d like to be remembered as “a good friend to everyone.” But if that’s what she wants, she may have a long way to go, Oliver Peck — who owns Elm Street Tattoo in Dallas and was married to Kat from 2003 to 2007 — tells In Touch in an exclusive interview. “She’s the most self-centered person I’ve ever been involved with,” he shares. “Toward the end of our marriage,” Oliver claims, “she was wanting to get liposuction, and she was taking drugs in order to lose weight.”

Her newfound fame changed her in other ways, too. Kat “got to the point where she was drinking until she was throwing up every day,” shares Oliver of the 28-year-old, who finally got sober in 2008. “She’d be incoherent and sometimes destructive.” Oliver says he tried to stand by her — until a friend told him “she was having an affair.”

The idea of a marriage-ending affair is ironic, considering that her new boyfriend is one of Hollywood’s most notorious cheaters. “Kat and I met Jesse and Sandra [Bullock] about four years ago at a party,” reveals Oliver. “Kat said she thought Jesse wasn’t very cool.”

As I was watching the VMA’s last night, I couldn’t help but think Kat Von D looks a heck of a lot like Cher. Which isn’t a bad thing, I suppose. There are a lot of people who are into that sorta look.

Not only do they look alike – they sound alike also! It’s crazy!

Jesse James and Kat Von D went public with their relationship last night, holding hands and posing together at the opening of a gallery in Hollywood.

Kat Von D, 28, doesn’t care if anyone else gets why she’s dating the recently divorced father of three.

“I think I learned a long time ago, even before the show, that it really doesn’t matter in the big picture [what anyone thinks],” she told UsMagazine.com. ” All that stuff isn’t important. I want to lead by example and do my best.”

Asked if she’s happy, she said, “Yes.”

She previously said that she first met James when she was 22 — when he had a program on the Discovery Channel — before things got romantic this summer.

“I think it was something that was spontaneous,” she told Us. “It definitely wasn’t planned.”

She’s been to his new home in Austin, Tx — where James’ ex Bullock, 46, also owns a home — and has met his kids, Chandler, 15, Jesse Jr., 12, and Sunny, 6.

“Jesse took me to a really neat antique shop,” Von D told Us. “So we went in and hung out. I got an old drawing, engraving Beethoven.”

Asked if James was involved in her gallery, she said, “Yeah, were together. Duh.”

It’s official! Kat Von D and Jesse James go public in Texas! Kat joined Jesse for a weekend getaway this weekend.

The tattooed couple were spotted holding hands in Fredericksburg, Texas near Austin where Jesse has relocated with his children.

“They’re definitely not hiding anything at this point,” a source close to Von D tells PEOPLE. “Kat’s happy. She doesn’t really care what other people think. She’ll do what she wants regardless.”

James and Kat Von D, who reportedly rode in on a motorcycle and visited a World War II museum during their time in the small tourist town, “didn’t go unnoticed” by onlookers, according to RadarOnline.com.

Kat Von D is not afraid to date Jesse James. So he cheated on Sandra Bullock a few times. So he cheated on his other wife a few times. Meh… no bigger.

Here’s what Kat had to say about it.

“I am a believer that we’re all human and we’re all capable of making mistakes,” she said on the Kevin & Bean radio show on L.A.’s KROQ-FM Thursday. “I think if I were to be crucified for my drug addiction three years ago now, it would be hard to live with that. I’m sober now, and it’s awesome. But I have made mistakes, too.”

She added, “I’ve got a lot of respect for Jesse and how he handled it.”

Von D, 28, star of TLC’s LA Ink, said she’s known James, 41, since she was 22. “We’ve always been friends,” she said. “He had his show on Discovery; that’s how we met. I was looking for some advice when I first started on Miami Ink.”

“Just because I have tattoos doesn’t mean, ‘Oh, you guys are a perfect match,’” she said. “I think that I’m his type on a different level than people would assume.”

So one minute she says they’re dating, then she says they aren’t. Now it sounds like they are, so which is it?

As for him being a cheater, hopefully he has changed, I have seen it happen. But with Jesse James, I have my doubts. Good luck with this one Kat!

This past weekend Kat Von D was spotted “passionately kissing” Jesse James in Las Vegas. The two denied it left and right – saying they were just friends.

Well, today she announced on her Twitter “And yes, Jesse and I are dating.” And then POOF! She deletes the post. But not before people could grab a screenshot. So here’s the proof! Whether she wanted it out there or not – it’s out there! Maybe next time you should think before you Tweet!

Rumors about the new couple began when James was spotted at dinner with Von D in Las Vegas on Saturday. Though Von D’s rep brushed off the fuss, saying the two were “just friends,” the fact that the pair dined alone and sat cozily on the same side of a booth at Palms Casino Resort’s N9NE seemed to tell a different story.

“Toward the end of the meal, the duo were spotted holding hands. They continued holding hands as they left dinner and headed to a black Mercedes that James was driving,” PEOPLE reports.

Earlier today I reported that Jesse James and Kat Von D had been spotted getting cozy in Las Vegas over the weekend. Well, looks like it was good ol’ fashioned PG-rated fun.

According to PEOPLE, her rep has issued a statement:

“They did have dinner, but they are just friends,” says the rep, adding that the LA Ink star, 28, and James, 41, first met “a while ago” since both of their shows are on TLC.

“They’ve always remained good friends,” says her rep. “There is no romance there with Jesse.”

The tattooed twosome were spotted dining at Palm Casino Resort’s N9NE and holding hands Saturday night but the outing, according to the rep, was “just good friends catching up. She’s been seen holding hands with friends before.”
