Michael Fassbender covers the June issue of GQ, and wow….he does not disappoint. It’s his first major cover of an American magazine from what I’ve read, and by the looks of it – it was worth the wait!

Here are some of the more interesting and titillating points from the interview:

He has a ping-pong table in his apartment, one that’s seen action:

In the middle of the room is a mini Ping-Pong table, borrowed from his British agent, who lives nearby. “Now that it’s here,” says Fassbender, “it’s not going. This table has been the best contribution for fun I’ve had in a long time. This table has seen some action…” He pauses, laughs. “That sounds wrong.”

But has it? I say, gently pushing.

“Just the paddles,” he deflects, and of course he then realizes that this sounds wrong, too, in exactly the same way.

On all the attention his penis got after ‘Shame’ came out: 

“It’s fun to a point,” he says of these situations he has been facing, “and after a certain point you worry that it kind of detracts from the movie. But there’s nothing I can do. I just have to laugh it off. I can. Pretty much. Because I take my work seriously but I can’t take myself too seriously. I’m in such a crazy privileged position—shit, this is the pinnacle of the dream when I was 17…. Nobody wants to hear really how difficult it is.”

On not being nominated for an Oscar for ‘Shame’, and the peeing scene that left everyone talking:

“I know,” he says. Usually for movie pissing the liquid you see is actually coming from a hidden tube, but he was nude. For the first two takes, he wasn’t able to do anything, but he announced on-set before the third that it would happen, and it did. “Actually pretty proud,” he says. And then he laughs and says—more blurts out, really—”That peeing cost me an Oscar.”

He is not entirely serious. Nor will he endorse Steve McQueen’s slightly broader stated view: “In America they’re too scared of sex, that’s why he wasn’t nominated.” “I don’t know—I don’t think so,” says Fassbender. “Steve is a passionate man. There’s not much filtering with Steve, and I love him for that.” But he’s starkly honest in acknowledging that there was a concerted campaign to get him nominated—”They promised me paradise!” he blares—and how his expectations were raised.

“At the beginning people [say], ‘You’re going to be going to the Oscars,’ and you’re like, ‘Whatever, doesn’t matter, don’t think so.’ But after a while it does penetrate. After a while you’re like, ‘Anyway, so I’m going to the Oscars…’ ” He laughs. “And you start to believe it. And I did. I thought I was going. And then I found out I wasn’t and I was upset. I was very upset by it. The first reaction was ‘What the fuck…?’ ” He sounds frustrated that he had let himself get sucked in. “It’s a vanity thing. It does become important to you. And it shouldn’t.” On reflection, he decided that he had learned something about misplaced priorities. “A good little lesson.”

On dating his ‘Shame’ costar, Nicole Beharie :

During an earlier stop in New York, he was photographed walking the streets of SoHo hand in hand with his Shame co-star Nicole Beharie. Fassbender has tended to keep quiet about his romantic life, though not long ago he briefly reflected on the discovery that his new fame comes with “a buffet of choice.” After the photos of Beharie and him appeared, the global gossip media anointed her as his girlfriend.

In this instance their assumptions are accurate. “I’m seeing Nicole, we’re trying to see each other as often as possible,” he acknowledges. “That’s kind of difficult when she lives [in New York] and I live in England.” He says they got together during the film’s promotion. “Nothing happened while we were filming. We started talking more on the promotion thing. So, yeah, it just sort of unfolded like that.” Presumably that’s why he’s now back in New York for a couple of days, though he doesn’t say so.

Charlize Theron (who stars with him in ‘Prometheus’) opens up about Michael:

“The bottom line is, Michael Fassbender is probably the most talented actor that I’ve ever been around, and I think the most talented actor of this time right now…. I cannot talk about Shame because I sound like a fucking freak, but it’s a film that stayed with me for three weeks. His performance haunted me. I watched it twice, and when I look at the nuance, the delicacy, the tenderness, there was nothing heavy-handed about him. He knows what the balance is. He knows real life, he doesn’t know pretend life…. The bottom line is that he should have an Oscar on his mantel right now.”

They have great chemistry, and I can’t wait to see this movie! I love the pictures that go along with this interview. Jen looks crazy good! (Def not pregnant, we can put that rumor to rest!)

Their new film, Wanderlust, is about a marriage at a turning point. Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd on whether any of the issues in the film resonated with them…
Paul: “I think most marriages, mine included, you’re constantly tending the garden, constantly working at it.”
Jennifer: “It’s a growing, literally living thing. There’s going to be growing pains, there’s going to be awkward moments—your lanky phase, your pimpled phase. I think that’s the beauty of a relationship. But if the road starts to…”
Paul: “…diverge…”
Jennifer: “…and one person is growing this way and the other is growing that way… Sometimes that can happen and you can stay together, and sometimes you can’t.”

Jennifer Aniston on recently turning 40….
“Forty’s great!” [GQ: Is it?] “Oh, my God, my thirties blew! Forties are great.”

Aniston on her NYC apartment: I bought an apartment, but I didn’t buy the right apartment. There were photographers outside every day. To the point of embarrassment.

Aniston on babies: “I’m not having triplets. Not having twins. Nor am I having one baby. [lifts up sweater and gestures to belly; it appears flat] I did not elope. Well, I recently quit smoking, and you do put on some extra pounds. It makes a difference, especially if you’re not 20. I think people maybe want me to have a kid now. I still kind of go with, if it happens, it happens. I’m calm and peaceful with whatever the plan is. It’s not something where I’m going, “I gotta have a kid!” [Does it bother me that “kids” are] Part of the picture-perfect life? I think that’s sort of cliché, isn’t it? Like, if you want to be happy, you should have the house, the husband, the kids… Kids are messy! The one time I do say, “Yes! I’m pregnant!” they’ll be like, “Pfft. Right.” Anyway, I’m drawing the line on the children conversation. You heard it here. I’m not knocked up now.”

I feel for Jennifer with the whole baby thing. The poor girl has been pregnant about 30 times now, if you listen to the press. I believe she desperately wants a baby (like I would know, too), but I think she either is waiting to get re-married, or she just can’t have babies. Either way it has to be incredibly painful to go through being asked about it every five minutes. Leave the girl alone! If she gets pregnant, she gets pregnant!

I’m liking the GQ cover better, personally, but she looks beautiful on both.

November will be the month of Twilight: Breaking Dawn, as the fourth installment is released on November 18. Sick of Twilight? You ain’t seen nothing yet! We’ll be seeing a LOT more of the Twilight stars, and it looks like it starts now.

Kristen Stewart lands the cover of both GQ and Glamour Magazine (I’m sure these aren’t the only ones). Here is a bit of her interview with Glamour via Celebitchy.

On Shooting Breaking Dawn’s Wedding Scene: [T]he last night…I was exhausted, and it’s funny, Rob [Pattinson] was actually way more energetic than I was at the end of it. Even thinking about it now kind of freaks me out. On the final night of filming, I was literaly pulling out my hair and crying and having to walk away for a second because my voice wasn’t working anymore.

On Embracing Bella: I like Bella so much. In order to play a part like that, you have to believe in every crazy decision that she makes.

On Whether She Wants To Direct: Yeah, really, really badly. Me and Dakota [Fanning] were having this conversation the other day actually, and she also wants to do it really bad. It will happen, I think. I also really enjoy being an actor, so I’m fine. I mean, I’m not finished …

On Being Misquoted: It bugs me! False impressions are the worst! It definitely makes me watch my words. Even right now, I’m going, OK, how do you walk about this? And you’ve got to have a filter.

On Watching Breaking Dawn For The First Time: [I]t’s fun to watch it with [Taylor Lautner] because we actually sit and watch it. Me and Taylor are actual Twilight fans, so we can sit there and be totally into it! Whereas I sit there with Rob … he likes it, but he has such a different energy. I’ve always just loved Jacob and Bella so much. Taylor is great in this one.

On Her Style: I have a uniform of sorts — I will be comfortable in a certain hoodie of mine no matter what mood I am in. And there’s nothing better than a new stack of white V-necks. For me, “changing” is either a new T-shirt … or an old T-shirt. And I need pockets, ’cause if I carried a bag, I’d lose it purposely.

I wonder if Taylor really is great in the new movie. I truly hope so, because he’s been God awful in the last three. I’m over the shirtless, smoldering Jacob. I’m sort of over the whole thing, really, so I’m hoping this movie lives up to the hype.

Which cover do you like more? Glamour or GQ?

At age 20, Jennifer Lawrence scored a much deserved Oscar nomination for Winter’s Bone. Even more impressive: This summer she’s giving us a reason to see a Mel Gibson film ‘The Beaver’ (GQ claims she’s the only reason to see the film) and yet another X-Men sequel, where she’ll be half naked as Mystique.

Now the Kentucky-born fox can add a full-on GQ magazine spread to her list of accomplishments.

“There are a lot of young American actors right now who haven’t got any technique,” ‘X-Men’ prequel director Matthew Vaughn tells GQ. “And to be blunt, a lot of these kids assume that just by having a good set of teeth and t**ts, smiling for the camera’s gonna be enough. I needed someone who could act.”

Which she can indeed. In mid-March, Lawrence nabbed the leading role in ‘The Hunger Games,’ a much-anticipated adaptation to the hottest young adult series since ‘Twilight.’ Lionsgate confirmed Lawrence for the coveted part of Katniss Everdeen; she reportedly beat out other young actresses, including ‘True Grit’ star Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Emma Roberts.

Billy Ray Cyrus is apologizing for his recent GQ interview where he said that Hannah Montana destroyed his family and compared his daughter, Miley Cyrus, to Anna Nicole Smith.

The 49-year-old singer spoke to People where he apologized for the explosive interview.

“It is very important to me to work on mending my family right now. My family is the most important thing I have, and we are working together to make sure our future is stronger and healthier,” Billy Ray continued. “It is all a learning process, and we thank everyone for their support and respect of our privacy as we sort through very important family issues.”

Well…at least he got to vent to the magazine about how he really felt…best of luck of working on their issues.
