Poor David Hasselhoff! After his A&E show was cancelled after only two episodes, David flew to Australia to help promote a new ice cream! A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do!
He arrived on the beach in a rubber lifeboat, flanked by local lifeguards, and carrying bags full of Splice ice cream.
Next stop? New Zealand! The Hoff is heading to Mount Maunganui’s main beach on January 6 to promote a new Streets ice-block.
The Bay of Plenty Times reports the Mount Maunganui Surf Life Saving Club has been paid a fee to host Hasselhoff, and will offer uniformed lifeguards as security. The club plans to take advantage of the 3000-strong crowd expected by fundraising with a bucket collection.

A&E has pulled former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff’s reality series The Hasselhoffs after just one week on the air, network officials said Friday.
Sunday’s premiere episode of the 10-episode series, which chronicled the life of Hasselhoff and his two daughters, averaged 718,000 viewers, according to Nielsen. A second 30-minute episode drew just 505,000 viewers.
In comparison, an original episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels preceding The Hasselhoffs drew 1.4 million viewers, according to the network.

Last Comic Standing judge Greg Giraldo has passed away, 5 days after overdosing on prescription pills.
Greg was hospitalized last weekend in New Brunswick, NJ, after overdosing on prescription pills. Sources close to Giraldo say it was not a suicide attempt.
While he’s probably most known for being a judge on LCS and regular appearances on Comedy Central’s Friars’ roasts, I knew him from the Howard Stern show.
Fellow comedian and friend Jim Norton confirmed the passing on Twitter. “Greg Giraldo passed away today. This is the last photo of us together, taken June 28 at Noam’s wedding. RIP buddy.”

David Hasselhoff is going on the record with THE INSIDER about reports that he was admitted to the hospital over the weekend for alcohol poisoning.
He told us today in Santa Barbara, “Yes, I had a few drinks. Yes I checked into the hospital. But it wasn’t for alcohol poisoning and no there’s no police report about a 3.9 [blood alcohol level], that’s completely made up. I don’t know where that came from… no police report.”
When we caught up with Hasselhoff today, he told us, “I’m fine. I’m doing great. But you know what? The attorneys will handle it.”
Hasselhoff is keeping a sense of humor about the situation, telling us: “[My girlfriend Kimberly] brought me an article this morning that’s pretty funny. It said something like: You know you’re an icon when the reports say that you checked into the hospital with alcohol poisoning, that you were intoxicated, that you checked into rehab, you died, came out of rehab and you’re having an affair with gerbils.”
