Paris Hilton: “I can’t stand black guys”

Well, in case you didn’t hear, Paris Hilton just “can’t stand black guys”…

Did she say this to the press recently? Nope.

Words that Paris said back in 1999 have come back to haunt her.

So what’s the deal?

American journalist, author, and ghost writer Neil Strauss has a new book that’s releasing this week called Everyone Loves You When You’re Dead. Los Angeles’ local alternative paper, LA Weekly, gives a great summary of the book:

The tome reveals shocking things about -and intimate moments with- the author’s vast array of interview subjects over the years: Lady Gaga bawling over an ex-boyfriend, Courtney Love considering snorting Kurt Cobain‘s ashes ala Keith Richards (this one’s already making the gossip site rounds) , Dave Navarro‘s penchant for $2000 hookers, Marilyn Manson‘s grave gigging jollies (Strauss co-wrote MM’s autobio, “Long Hard Road Outta Hell”), Julian Casablancas‘ dickishness, Snoop Dogg blunt bonanzas (okay the last three aren’t so shocking) and various rock stars’ beefs, fetishes (peeing, toes), and penchants for drugs and booze… which, by the way, no one chose to hide while they were being recorded and observed for press!

One thing that Strauss decided to leave out was a hate letter from Phil Collins.

One thing that Strauss decided to publish was a run-in with Paris he had back in 1999, during which Paris decided to take a hit of ecstasy, brag about her boob job that she got when she was 14 (and how her mom made her remove them), explain how she wanted to pose for Playboy (and tell her dad about it, so he would pay her twice as much NOT to pose), and… point out which guy she made out with (but stopped when he saw him in the light and noticed he was black).

Here’s an excerpt from Strauss’ book:

In 1999, shortly after moving to Los Angeles to cover pop culture for the New York Times, I ended up in a room with someone I’d never heard of before. She seemed to embody young Hollywood. She didn’t want to be an actress, a singer, or a star – though she would soon become all three. The art form she’d chosen to embrace was partying.  She was with a model friend of hers and talking about performing a sex show together for someone named Artie the previous night, then taking dirty photographs afterward. In the background as we spoke, the movie Saving Private Ryan was playing. After this conversation, she proceeded to get drunk on Midori sours (each with six cherries in the glass), make out with David Faustino of Married… with Children, take a hit of ecstasy, play Britney Spears songs practically nonstop, and have a threesome. Maybe she said what follows for provocation and shock value. Maybe she didn’t. You decide…

PARIS HILTON: I had a breast job when I was fourteen, but my mother made me take them out.

How old are you now?

HILTON: I’m eighteen.

Are you working?

HILTON: I’m thinking about posing for Playboy. They love famous people’s kids.

Like who?

HILTON: I don’t know. And the only reason I’d do it is because when my dad finds out, he’ll pay me double the money not to do it.

Later…

HILTON: I went out with that guy last night.

Which guy?

HILTON (points to an actor in Saving Private Ryan): We were making out, but then we went somewhere where it was bright and saw that he was black and made an excuse and left. I can’t stand black guys. I would never touch one. It’s gross (pauses) . Does that guy look black to you?

How black does a guy have to be?

HILTON: One percent is enough for me.

And there it is. This is how words from the past are slapping Miss Hilton in the face.

Party like it’s 1999.

Thoughts?

Beautiful Women at the Elle Style Awards 2011!

Courtney Love looks amazing! Wow! What a transformation! She’s had a string of random/scary twitter pics lately, so it’s nice to see her cleaned up! She looks great!

Other stars at last night’s Elle Style Awards: Geri Halliwell, Emma Watson, Cheryl Cole, Thandie Newton, Blake Lively, Helena Christensen, Minnie Driver and Stephen Dorff.

Courtney Love being sued in first-ever Twitter related lawsuit!

Back in 2009, Courtney Love had been in a heated argument with designer Dawn Simorangkir. Dawn claimed that Courtney owed her thousands of dollars in unpaid clothes.

The dispute erupted on March 17, when Courtney took to her Twitter page and began a long string of shocking insults against Dawn.

Love’s tweets, which instantly landed in the Twitter feeds of her 40,000 or so followers (and countless others via retweets), announced that Simorangkir was a drug-pushing prostitute with a history of assault and battery who lost custody of her own child and capitalized on Love’s fame before stealing from her. “She has received a VAST amount of money from me over 40,000 dollars and I do not make people famous and get raped TOO!” Love wrote..

That particular tirade that Courtney posted on Twitter, Etsy and Myspace – is now the center of a lawsuit, the first of it’s kind. The Hollywood Reporter has more:

“There has never been anything like this case before,” says Simorangkir attorney Bryan Freedman, who will attempt to convince a Los Angeles jury that Love’s false statements destroyed his client’s fashion career, thus entitling her to potentially millions of dollars in damages.

In an age when public figures from Kanye West to Ryan Seacrest communicate influential messages to thousands — sometimes millions — of followers on social platforms, the Love case raises the question of whether celebrities, like the news media, should be liable for what happens if they intentionally put untrue and damaging statements in front of their loyal readers.

“We don’t believe there’s any defamation, and even if there were defamatory statements, there was no damage,” says James Janowitz, an attorney for Love.
A key to the case, say First Amendment lawyers, could be whether an average Twitter user would interpret Love’s vicious tweets as facts rather than merely her opinion.

“I’ll be interested to see if the court gives people posting on Twitter more latitude than other media,” says Alonzo Wickers, a defamation expert who has handled matters for such media clients as Comedy Central and TMZ. “The way Twitter is evolving, it seems to be more of a means to express opinion. I would hope courts give tweets the same latitude as they do an op-ed piece or a letter to the editor.”

Love has already given her deposition in the case. Love claims that she was only repeating in her tweets, things that Simorangkir said herself.

Love will reportedly claim that she had no idea how influential her comments were on Twitter, and she didn’t maliciously intend to ruin anyone’s reputation.

Should get interesting! Trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 18!

What do you think – should Courtney Love be held responsible for nasty Tweets?

Courtney Love being sued for not returning $114K worth of jewelry!

A celebrity jeweler says Courtney Love hasn’t returned nearly $114,000 worth of borrowed baubles, and the gem dealer is suing to get them back.

The rocker borrowed two white gold and diamond chains, a white gold, floral-design mesh bracelet and a pair of white gold and diamond pave hoop earrings on Sept. 21, Jacob & Co. said in a lawsuit filed Monday. The suit says she has returned only the bracelet, despite demands for the other pieces.

She indicated to the jeweler that she’d lost the items, but their agreement specified that she was responsible for them “regardless of loss or damage,” said the company’s lawyer, Jeffrey Klarsfeld. Love’s spokesman and lawyer didn’t immediately respond to messages.

The lawsuit seeks the gems or their $113,700 value.
