Cleopatra I can see… but Marilyn Monroe? I don’t like it! Here’s the scoop from Daily Mail:
Angelina Jolie is to star as Marilyn Monroe in a new film about the Hollywood bombshell, it has been revealed.
The 35-year-old actress is set to play Monroe in an adaptation of Andrew O’Hagan’s The Life And Opinions Of Maf The Dog, And Of His Friend Marilyn Monroe, the author revealed at the Edinburgh Book Festival yesterday.
And George Clooney has been lined up to play Monroe’s close friend Frank Sinatra, O’Hagan confirmed, adding that production on the film would begin soon.
While Scarlett Johansson and Christina Hendricks had previously been in line for the role, it was eventually decided Jolie would be the best choice to play Monroe in the new film.
O’Hagan’s novel tells the story of Monroe’s final two years before her death in 1962 through the eyes of her pet Maltese terrier Maf – a gift from My Way singer Sinatra in 1960.
As well as meeting Monroe’s friends including former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Maf also accompanied the star to acting classes and restaurants.
When she received the dog from Sinatra, Monroe decided to call it Mafia – a joke reference to Sinatra, before shortening the name to Maf, or Maf Honey.
In the book, written entirely from Maf’s perspective, the canine comments: ‘She was an artist to her fingertips… a strange and unhappy creature, but at the same she had more comedy to her than anybody I would ever know. More comedy and more art.’
When Monroe died in August 1962 aged 36, Maf was inherited by Sinatra’s secretary Gloria Lovell.
It has not yet been revealed who will be voicing Maf in the movie.
How perfect would Christina Hendricks be! I think that would be genius! I just think Angelina Jolie is a terrible idea!

US Weekly just released this picture of 4-year-old Shiloh wearing board shorts while swimming.
The adorable 4-year-old girl went for a swim last weekend in Berkeley, Calif.
Angelina Jolie told Vanity Fair last month that her daughter is “hysterically funny, one of the goofiest, most playful people you’ll ever meet … Goofy and verbal, the early signs of a performer. I used to get dressed up in costumes and jump around.”

In a slew of uncharacteristically personal interviews, Angelina Jolie has been telling the world what a “happy home” she has, and how she makes a point of spending concentrated time with her six children, bragging that she makes them bacon and eggs every morning. But at the Claremont Hotel Club & Spa in Oakland — the California city where their dad, Brad Pitt, is filming Moneyball — Angelina’s sons Pax, 6, and Maddox, 9, seemed to feel otherwise. In the “club” area of the hotel at around 3 p.m. on July 30, a witness reports, the boys chattered animatedly with a blond nanny, a bodyguard and two other young boys as the nanny ordered burgers and fries for them. “At one point, Maddox and Pax got into a brotherly spat over some ketchup,” the witness recalls. “The nanny firmly said, ‘Mad, let Paxie have some ketchup.’ Maddox said, ‘Mom, do I have to?’ and Pax was whining, ‘Mom, make him give me some.’” Throughout the lunch, the witness says, the boys repeatedly called their nanny “mom” — something that, shocking as it sounds, isn’t surprising to some who know Angelina. “Angelina is gone so much working or in meetings that the kids do spend most of their time during the day with the nannies,” a family friend says, adding, “Publicly, Angelina would not like the hired help to be seen, but they are there and all of the kids are so attached to them, they are like family — whether Angelina wants to believe that or not.”

Yes, it’s true! Angelina Jolie joined Twitter. But it turns out the ‘Salt’ actress isn’t planning on Tweeting anytime soon. In fact, she’s locked her account and no followers and isn’t following anyone.
“Jolie had her people obtain the account for her so no one else could have that username,” a source tells UsMagazine.com. “There was actually someone else using @AngelinaJolie but Angelina requested the account suspended and took it over.”
The source also said the actress might start Tweeting on the microblogging site “later this year. If she uses it, it will be for charity-related items or sharing links.”

Actress Angelina Jolie was a showstopper at the annual fan convention Comic-Con in San Diego, California on Thursday. She delighted fans when she took the stage in a skintight leather jacket, form-fitting black pencil skirt, and open-toe black heels.
Jolie, 35, joined ‘Salt’ co-star Liev Schreiber for a panel on their upcoming film. The actress revealed she fell on set and was pretty freaked out when she couldn’t hear anything, UsWeekly reports. “I thought I’d had a concussion, but I had forgotten that I had my earplugs in from [shooting] the gun!” she said.

She also talked about the weapons she used while shooting ‘Salt’: “I got to play with just about everything,” she said, “including using a fire extinguisher in a way I’d never used it.”
When she compared her new movie to past films she’s done like ‘Wanted’ and the ‘Tomb Raider’ series, she said, “My style got meaner and harder and darker, it wasn’t as pretty. I think this is a better action movie than the ones I’ve done.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie accepted undisclosed damages Thursday in London’s High Court to settle a privacy claim against a British tabloid that had reported they were planning to split.
The celebrity couple began legal action against the News of the World after it reported in January that they had agreed to separate. The pair argued the newspaper had made false and intrusive allegations in saying that they had planned to divide assets worth 205 million pounds ($320 million) and had made arrangements regarding the custody of their six children.
“When the News of the World failed to publicly retract the allegations and apologize for them — thereby leaving their readers in the dark as to the true position — the couple felt they had no alternative than to sue,” the couple’s attorney, Keith Schilling, said in a statement. “Today’s victory marks the end of the litigation brought by Brad and Angelina.”
The newspaper confirmed that a settlement had been reached, but declined to comment further.
The movie star couple did not attend the hearing.
