Jake Gyllenhaal got a chance to roast ex-girlfriend Natalie Portman at last night’s Palm Springs International Film Awards. The two dated back in 2002, and were rumored to have re-kindled their romance in 2006.

Before awarding Portman, 29, the Desert Palm Achievement Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Jake Gyllenhaal was unabashed in his praise for his one-time girlfriend, whom he dated briefly in 2006.

“Natalie is the Audrey Hepburn of our generation,” the actor says, “She is elegant, graceful, has amazing eyebrows … is talented, really short, funny, smart, dedicated, incredibly kind.”

But despite her attempts to prove otherwise, no one is perfect, and with Portman’s fiancé, Benjamin Millepied looking, – and laughing – along, Gyllenhaal eventually got around to the “flaws” of the this award season’s it girl.

“She’s a vegan, which makes it really frustrating when you’re picking a place to eat,” Gyllenhaal said with a laugh, before adding, “She’s also recently announced that she’s going to be a mom, and her child will probably need therapy after seeing Black Swan.”

She previously insisted she is in no rush to lose her baby weight – but Amy Adams how now confessed that she felt at her most beautiful when she was pregnant.

The Oscar-nominated actress, who gave birth to her daughter Aviana eight months ago, told InStyle magazine that motherhood had changed her.

And she added that having a child had brought out her softer side, and made her more vulnerable.

‘I can’t say, ‘I don’t care,” she said of being a mother. ‘I can’t be tough. There’s no truth to it. I love her. I need her in my life. I can’t pretend otherwise.’

As well as the interview, the 36-year-old showed just how much weight she had lost in a series of stunning photographs, styled by the magazine’s senior fashion editor Natalie Hartley.

In the pictures, Amy poses in a series of fitted dresses and high heels, showing off an enviably slim figure.

But despite this, she confessed in the interview that she has yet to lose all of her baby weight – and also revealed how much she enjoyed the pregnancy.

‘I never felt more beautiful than when I was pregnant,’ Amy said. ‘Because it wasn’t about me.

‘The whole purpose of my body was no longer to fit into a sample size. It was to nurture another being. So I always felt great, no matter what I was wearing.’

The British monarchy tale “The King’s Speech” led Golden Globe contenders Tuesday with seven nominations, including best drama and acting honors for Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush.

Other best-drama nominees were the psychosexual dance thriller “Black Swan,” the boxing saga “The Fighter,” the sci-fi blockbuster “Inception” and the Facebook chronicle “The Social Network.”

Nominees in the Globes’ other best-picture category, for musical or comedy, are the Lewis Carroll fantasy “Alice in Wonderland,” the song-and-dance extravaganza “Burlesque,” the lesbian-family tale “The Kids Are All Right,” the action tale “Red” and the romantic thriller “The Tourist.”

“The Social Network” and “The Fighter” tied for second with six nominations each. Among nominations for “The Social Network” were Jesse Eisenberg as best dramatic actor, Andrew Garfield as supporting actor and David Fincher as director.

“The Fighter” earned four acting nominations, best actor for Mark Wahlberg and supporting honors for Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo. Its nominations also included a directing slot for David O. Russell.

“We were hopeful for a couple, but to get this number was unexpected, exciting, and when it comes to the actors, so well deserved on their front,” said “The Fighter” producer Ryan Kavanaugh. “Everyone brought their A-game.”

Johnny Depp earned two nominations, as best musical or comedy actor for “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Tourist.”

Along with Eisenberg, Firth and Wahlberg, best dramatic actor contenders are James Franco for the survival story “127 Hours” and Ryan Gosling for the marital tale “Blue Valentine.”

Nominees for best dramatic actress are Halle Berry for the multiple-personality drama “Frankie and Alice,” Nicole Kidman for the grieving-parent tale “Rabbit Hole,” Jennifer Lawrence for the Ozarks crime yarn “Winter’s Bone,” Natalie Portman for “Black Swan” and Michelle Williams for “Blue Valentine.”

Katie Holmes and a slew of other female celebs showed up for Variety’s 2nd Annual Power of Women Luncheon held at The Beverly Hills Hotel today. I’m sure some people might actully like her dress, but I think it’s so ugly! It looks like a tablecloth my mom brings out at Thanksgiving! The confusing part is, a lot of people around the web are talking about how great the dress is. (Lainey even went as far as to say it’s her favorite outfit that Katie’s ever worn!) I am confused. What am I missing?

Maybe I’m not as fashion forward as I thought. That’s a lie, I never thought I was fashion forward. Hell, I’d say I’m fashion backwards. I get excited when Old Navy has a sale.

Anyway, Katie Holmes was being honored for her dress at the event for her work with Dizzy Feet Foundation, which helps support dance education.

I’m sorta on the fence with Jennifer Garner’s outfit also, but I love her, so she’s good in my book.

Amy Adams has given birth to a healthy baby girl.

RadarOnline.com has exclusively confirmed the 35-year-old “Julie & Julia” star welcomed the seven-pound addition to her family this the weekend.

Her fiancé, Darren Le Gallo, was by her side at an undisclosed Los Angeles location for the birth.

“Everyone is doing well,” a pal of the actress told RadarOnline.com. “It’s very exciting for Amy, Darren and their families. They have a large, extended family and all their brothers and sisters are relieved and thrilled that this moment has come for them both.”

This is the first child for both parents.

The Oscar-nominated actress and Le Gallo, who met in 2001 in an acting class, announced last December they were expecting.

Speaking about motherhood recently, Adams said: “I think I really have to meet the person before I’m going to know the name, but I tend to be attracted to more traditional names.”
