Rumor has it Nick Cannon is PISSED that Mariah Carey took her extremely high-paying American Idol judging gig!

Cannon hosts Idol rival America’s Got Talent, and some say Cannon is secretly furious that his Grammy Award-winning wife didn’t listen to him and just decided to star in a direct competitor of his show.

Says The Enquirer:

“While he’s publicly said “she’s gonna be amazing on ‘Idol,’” an insider said that “privately, Nick’s gritting his teeth and dead-set against her taking the job.”

When Mariah was deep in delicate negotiations with “Idol” brass, the insider says Nick tried to “throw water on the negotiations” by telling a reporter: “I don’t know if they can afford Mariah Carey…If they gave J.Lo $20 million, they might have to double that!”

Well, they didn’t have to.  And Nick was trying to get her to not take the job- right until she accepted!

“He was dangling incentives – diamond jewelry, a luxurious spa vacation, even promising to pay her a one-time ‘gift’ of $15 million for saying no.

“Nick wants her to be a stay-at-home mom to their twins, at least until they turn 5. He was even hoping to have another baby, but Mariah has effectively scorched that dream.”

Sometimes, Nick, you have to let your wife make her own- and very lucrative- decisions! That’s life!

FOX just released their first promo pics for their fall lineup, which include Mariah Carey for ‘American Idol’ and Britney Spears for ‘The X Factor’.

Carey shows off her tiny figure (unless the photo has been photoshopped) in a tight sparkly orange dress. Britney looks equally amazing in her closeup.

Both stars are getting paid a pretty penny for their hosting gigs. Mariah is reportedly earning $18 million for one season, while Britney is earning $15 mil.

I think Mariah will do amazing as a judge on ‘American Idol’, but I think the jury’s still out on Britney. I have a feeling she’s actually not doing so well as a judge, but only time will tell!

Brad Paisley might be the next celebrity on the American Idol judges panel!

The popular series is seriously considering country star Paisley for one of the recently (and unceremoniously) vacated chairs on its judging panel. Though it isn’t where Idol usually goes in terms of recruiting judges, Paisley makes a lot of sense: the show’s biggest star, Carrie Underwood, is a country singer and some of the show’s recent winners (Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alana, to be more specific) are also in the country genre.

Paisley has also performed on Idol, and has a relationship with both Underwood and McCreery. Paisley recorded the song Remind me with Underwood and is going to tour with McCreery later this year.  Other shows are going country, too: NBC’s The Voice had country star Blake Shelton, as a mentor and that worked out pretty well for them, in my humble opinion.

Jordin Sparks landed the August cover of Shape Magazine. The singer posed in a bikini, showing off her recent 50-pound weight loss! So how did Jordin lose the weight?

“There is no secret,” the 22-year-old Sparkle actress told Us at the event. “It’s just eating better and working out! It’s definitely a daily thing.”

Among her favorite ways to get her sweat on: high-energy dance classes like Zumba. “My mom’s best friend is a Zumba instructor and I loved it,” she gushed. “I started with walking then went to jogging and then Zumba. I started [working with a trainer] and we did 30 minutes of circuit training so I didn’t feel like I needed to be in the gym for two hours.”

In addition to intense cardio sculpting sessions, Sparks, who had been dating fellow singer Jason Derulo since last August, had to makeover her diet as well. “I stop now when I’m full,” she admitted. “I love food and I love to eat. My thing was, do I really need seconds or do I want it just because it tastes good?”

But leftovers and second helpings have proven to pay off for the season 6 American Idol champ, who admits that she got extremely emotional when shooting her first bikini cover.

“I could only dream having a cover and looking like that,” she said. “I thought, ‘I did it!’ I had to walk back to my dressing room and I had to pull myself together because I was overwhelmed. I cried. I shed a little tear but I’m really happy with how it turned out.”

She looks amazing, but honestly…….she doesn’t look much different to me. I know she was a bit pudgy, but did she really have 50 pounds to lose? Either way, good for her. She looks beautiful on this cover!

You think ‘American Idol’ producers are getting desperate, ’cause I’m thinking they’re desperate for ratings. Why else would they drop $18 million for ONE year to secure Mariah Carey as the judge? The reported $18 million paycheck will make Mariah the highest paid judge in reality TV.

Her deal is rumored to be just under $18 million for one year with an option to renew,” a source familiar with the negotiation tells PEOPLE.

Carey, 42, will reportedly be the highest paid judge on any reality show, although departed judge Jennifer Lopez raked in $20 million plus bonuses her second year, according to a source.

With Lopez – whose exit had nothing to do with dollar signs, said a source – Steven Tyler and potentially Randy Jackson out of the mix, Carey’s panel companions (and their pay rates) have yet to be confirmed.

“It’s gonna be so much fun working on @AmericanIdol,” Carey Tweeted Monday when her new gig was made official. “As a singer-songwriter, I’m excited to help find and nurture new talent.”

And Carey isn’t the only one who pulls in serious pay on reality TV. According to reports, Christina Aguilera will make about $10 million on the third season of The Voice. Howard Stern’s turn as a judge on America’s Got Talent came with a $15 million paycheck.

Money aside, Carey is “totally elated,” adds the source. “She’s in the studio, and she’s getting ready to record the video for her new single, “Triumphant” – certainly an appropriate title, and it was written before the deal.”

Seriously though – $18 MILLION!! I loved ‘American Idol’ for the first couple years, but it is sooooooo past it’s prime. I think they should stick a fork in it and call it done. I can’t even tell you who won the last – say – 5 seasons!

Jennifer Lopez and her lead-choreographer boyfriend Casper Smart stepped out last night in NYC. The former ‘American Idol’ judge is currently on tour, and the couple were taking a night off to spend together. People are making a big deal about how JLo promoted her boyfriend to lead choreographer on the tour, but who cares.

Jennifer turns 43 tomorrow – and rumor has it her 25-year-old boyfriend may be popping the question. I sure hope to God this is just gossip, and not true whatsoever. Jenny needs to stay single for a while, she’s obviously not very good at the whole marriage thing. She recently told Good Morning America  ”Yes, for me the biggest dream is the fairy tale,” when asked about marriage. “I will never give up on that dream.”

Maybe you should give up on it a teensie bit.

Jennifer Lopez announced last Friday that she will NOT be returning for another season of hit reality show American Idol, right after Steven Tyler said the same. So, what are her plans besides judging and inspiring young singer/performers?

According to The Huffington Post, Lopez says she wants to get back to acting!

“I do miss doing films. I feel like the last two years with `(American) Idol,’ I’ve really, really focused on, you know, my music. … It was all kind of very synergistic, it worked really well together,” said Lopez. “But (film) is something that I really loved, it’s how I kind of started in this business, and it doesn’t leave you. I am an actress, I need to do that, too.”

Of course, she’ll still be musical.  The 42 year old star is  releasing an upcoming greatest hits album, and this summer, she’ll be touring with Enrique Iglesias. She’s excited, as her twins Max and Emme will also be on the road with her, along with some helpers from her close-knit family.

“From a personal standpoint, I just want it to be (an) enjoyable, healthy, exciting experience for us, something that we can look back on and say, `Oh, we did this,’” she said. “I don’t even know if they’ll remember, they’re only 4 (years old) right now, but I want it to be something that will be good for them.”
