Victoria’s Secret supermodel, Alessandra Ambrosio, has told her daughter that “having a perfect body isn’t everything.” And while that is easy for her to say, it’s nice to know she’s imparting the obvious but sometimes hard knowledge on her daughter. In Self magazine, Ambrosio explains that she wants her daughter Anja, 5, to be confident and know that looks aren’t everything.
‘Having a perfect body isn’t everything. I want my daughter to be nice, have a good education and be disciplined.
‘That’s what makes people like her. A perfect butt doesn’t make an amazing person. It’s about feeling confident.’
Alessandra admitted to the magazine that, despite her slender figure, she never exercised until after her daughter was born.
She said: ‘When I started with Victoria’s Secret at 21, I never worked out. Then when I got pregnant with my daughter, I gained about 60 pounds and had to walk the Victoria’s Secret show three months later.
‘That was the first time I had to really fight to get my body back into shape.’
She can rest assured that she is, in fact, back in shape. It would be hard to have a model for a mother. Living up to those comparisons? Yeesh. Girls have so many tendencies towards body image issues anyway. It’s nice to know that she’s ingraining some proper perspective in her daughter. She is pictured here sporting some awesome baubles at the annual Chopard dinner last night in Cannes. Cannes is just one big excuse to wear awesome gowns.
