I would think the court would let Britney back in charge of her estate. If she is of sound mind to commit to marriage shouldn’t she be able to make her own business decisions?

Britney Spears’s father is taking an extra step in bonding with his future son-in-law. Jamie Spears is asking a court to add Jason Trawick as a co-conservator over his pop star daughter, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

Trawick will only have shared legal control over Spears’s general well being – not her finances, according to the source. In general, a conservator can make decisions over a person’s food, clothing and medical care. But Spears has plenty of personal freedom and the conservatorship is just a formality, another source previously told PEOPLE.

“This is a very unusual situation, because generally you don’t see conservatees get married,” says Jeffrey S. Cohen, an L.A. probate attorney not involved with the case. “This could be a sign that the couple’s wedding is around the corner.”

Adds Cohen: “This is probably a compromise between Britney, her father and Trawick to get the marriage off on the right foot. Obviously, her future husband needs to have a say in her well being.”

Jamie Spears has held legal control over his daughter and her multimillion-dollar fortune since Feb. 2008 after the singer suffered a psychological breakdown.

The conservatorship will be lifted only after a judge is convinced, on the advice of Spears’s doctors, that she’s healthy enough to manage her own affairs.

J’adore Dior- as do most people!

Finally, after much controversy and talks surrounding the void at elite design house Dior, they’ve hired on!  Raf Simons will be officially replacing  John Galliano as artistic director of the 66-year-old luxury brand, in an announcement to be made formally on Wednesday.  Galliano was controversially fired from Dior last year after he made several anti-Semitic remarks, and the position of artistic director has been void for almost a year.

Simons is extremely excited for the opportunity, saying that his new position at Dior “feels right.”   Simons’ first collection is planned for July at the fall haute couture shows and will certainly be a change of pace for Dior.  As an alum of Jil Sander, We are so excited to see what his talent brings!

Well, not quite- but Jennifer sure is showering her dancer beau with gifts.  For his 25th birthday,  J Lo gave Casper Smart an intimate dinner with friends, and a customized Dodge Ram.  People Magazine relays Casper’s excitement- he even drove his car to dinner at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood. Italian comfort food and a new car? Sounds like a pretty sweet birthday to me- as if dating Jennifer Lopez wasn’t enough!

Lamar Odom is done in Dallas, shortly after he was traded by the Lakers in Los Angeles.

He has released a statement: “The Mavericks and I have mutually agreed that it’s in the best interest of both parties for me to step away from the team. I’m sorry that things didn’t work out better for both of us, but I wish the Mavs’ organization, my teammates and Dallas fans nothing but continued success in the defense of their championship.”

According to ESPN, Odom will leave the team immediately, but he’ll stay on the roster for the rest of the season as “inactive”, meaning he can be traded at the end of this season.

TMZ reports Odom has done awful in Dallas, putting up career low numbers, and appearing unmotivated on the court.

According to source, Odom’s wife, Khloe Kardashian, has been really worried about her husband telling people he’s been depressed ever since being traded.

Even though Khloe embraced the move to Dallas, Lamar never found his footing with the Dallas Mavericks. “Lamar hasn’t gotten over being traded from the Lakers, and he has been depressed and moody ever since the trade happened. Lamar felt that he was ripped away from his Laker family with no warning or notice. He couldn’t fathom the fact that the Lakers traded him after all of his years with the team,” a source close to the couple tells RadarOnline.com. “Khloe has been extremely supportive of Lamar, but she is growing increasingly concerned for her husband because she has never seen him like this before.”

The veteran forward will be on the inactive list for the rest of the year, leaving Mark Cuban’s organization with the option to trade him if they so choose.

Lamar, 32, easily had the worst season of his career in Big D, averaging a paltry 6.6 points-per-game and 4.2 rebounds-per-game in 50 games with the league’s reigning champs. After a phenomenal year in 2010-2011, he was clearly disheartened after the Los Angeles Lakers dealt him twice over the off-season.

“Lamar is just lost right now, and Khloe is hoping once they move back to Los Angeles and he is back in familiar surroundings, he will get out of his funk. Lamar wants to keep playing basketball but it might be time for him to retire, which has Khloe even more concerned,” the insider tells RadarOnline.com.
