Britney Spears‘ pal Sam Lutfi tells PageSix.com that the pop singer is being taken to a Los Angeles hospital to be put on psychiatric hold for the second time this month.

LAPD confirmed to us that they responded to a call at Brit’s Beverly Hills home this evening. Since then, X17 has reported the arrival of an ambulance and numerous police vehicles.

Despite a Friday appointment with a psychiatrist and Tuesday’s reunion with mom Lynne, Britney’s behavior had been increasingly erratic over the past few days.

For the second time in a less than a month, police involuntary committed Britney Spears early Thursday morning, hours after blogs and media outlets began reporting that her psychiatrist determined she was a danger to herself and others.

At approximately 1 a.m., dozens of Los Angeles Police officers along with an ambulance arrived at Spears’ home in the Summit Circle gated community in the hills above Beverly Hills. Less than 20 minutes later, she was transported to UCLA Medical Center.

Citing unidentified authorities, The Los Angeles Times said Spears was placed on a “mental evaluation hold.”

The ambulance was seen pulling out of the side entrance of Spears’ gated Summit community at 1:20 a.m. Her mother, Lynne Spears, was seen riding in an SUV as part of the police escort caravan.

Her father, Jamie, and her brother, Bryan, arrived at the hospital minutes after Britney was brought in. Sam Lutfi and Alli Sims also were seen entering.

Lutfi recently told Barbara Walters that Spears — whose behavior has become increasingly erratic — suffers from “mental issues which are treatable” and “that she has been to a psychiatrist.”

On January 3, Spears was taken to L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after a three-hour stand-off with authorities, which began when she refused to hand over her two sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston, to her ex Kevin Federline as required by their custody decree. Spears was released less than 48 hours later.

A former companion of Anna Nicole Smith said Wednesday that her attorney-turned-boyfriend Howard K. Stern took several photographs of the collapsed body of her late 20-year-old son for profit.

G. Ben Thompson, a South Carolina developer, testified that Stern took about four pictures of Daniel Smith’s body after he died Sept. 10, 2006, while visiting his celebrity mother three days after she gave birth to her daughter in a Bahamian hospital.

Stern said the photographs “might be worth some money one day,” according to Thompson, who was embroiled in an ownership dispute with Stern over the Nassau mansion where he lived with Anna Nicole before her Feb. 8 death of a prescription drug overdose.

Duane “Dog” Chapman cannot be extradited to Mexico to face criminal charges in his capture of serial rapist and fugitive Andrew Luster in 2003, a three-judge panel in Mexico has ruled.

The unanimous ruling was handed down Tuesday. The TV bounty hunter, his son Leland Chapman and associate Tim Chapman faced being sent to the resort town of Puerto Vallarta, where they captured Luster, who had jumped a $1 million bond on charges that he drugged and raped three women.

“He’s a free man,” Chapman’s San Francisco-based attorney, James A. Quadra, said in a telephone interview late Tuesday. “They can’t reinstate any criminal charges and as a result of that, there’s no basis for them to then seek extradition.”

I still don’t like this guy. I don’t care if he’s a free man or not. I still feel he’s a racist, no matter how many apologies he’s made.

24 Star Mary Lynn Rajskub is pregnant with her and her boyfriend, Matthew Rolph’s first child. She plays computer whiz Chloe O’Brian on 24, alongside Kiefer Sutherland.

“With the strike going on, I had to keep busy!” Rajskub jokes. “We are thrilled and couldn’t be more excited.”

Rajskub recently attended the Sundance Film Festival promoting Sunshine Cleaning, in which she costars opposite Amy Adams and Emily Blunt. On Friday, Rajskub will make an appearance walking in the Red Dress Fashion Show to benefit The Heart Truth in New York.

Apparently, Scientology is no laughing matter for the voice of Bart Simpson, actress, Nancy Cartwright. She has reportedly gave the cult church of Scientology a whopping $10 million dollars.

It was all part of Scientology’s Global Salvage effort, which aims to “de-aberrate” Earth — meaning to rid mankind of psychology ills and other “aberrant” behavior.

Surprisingly, Nancy, 50, forked over twice as much as the Scientology’s most prominent member, Tom Cruise, who only gave $5 million in an installment plan.
