While the world is still in shock that Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, little details keep trickling out over what exactly happened between the pair to cause this jaw dropping rift. Sources close to the situation have revealed that Brad allegedly got “verbally abusive” and “physical” with one of his and Angelina’s six children. The incident was said to have happened aboard the high profile couple’s private plane in front of their brood.
Now that the abuse allegations have come to light, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services has opened an investigation into the matter. People reports that a source anonymously called into DCFS to report the incident last Wednesday while the plane was still on the tarmac.
Reportedly, Brad is accused of being abusive and physical with one of the kids, which is obviously something that Angelina would allow for their children. The details on the incident aren’t crystal clear, but we have learned that Angelina was there along with some of their other children.
The source revealed, “The DCFS investigation is absolutely ongoing. Brad has been interviewed and is cooperating fully. The case remains open.”
According to the complaint, Brad was allegedly drunk during the plane incident. Despite the open investigation by DCFS, the LAPD says that they are not currently investigating the actor following the abuse allegations. A spokeswoman for the department said, “LAPD is not handling any report or allegations into child abuse against Mr. Brad Pitt.”
Other sources have said that following the incident on the plane, Brad did not return to the couple’s Los Angeles home. He was said to have spent the night in a hotel – which was something that became a common occurrence following any arguments or spats with Angelina.
A spy close to the actor said that Brad realizes the severity of the matter. The source said, “He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children. It’s unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light.”
In the divorce documents, Angelina cited irreconcilable differences and listed their date of separation as September 15, 2016. Following the news of her divorce filing, Brad released a statement about his unending focus on the well-being of their children. He said in a statement, “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
Angelina had previously released her own statement through her lawyer, Laura Wasser. She said, “This decision was made for the health of the family.”
More details have leaked out regarding the incident as we have since learned that Brad allegedly screamed at the pair’s oldest child Maddox during the plane incident. According to Page Six, Brad admitted that he yelled at their son, but denied hitting him.
A source close to the matter said, “Angelina and Brad got into an argument while on the plane, and their son Maddox stepped in and got caught in the middle. Brad may have been drinking, and admits that he yelled at his son, but he insists he did not hit him or attempt to harm him. It was a confrontation that got out of hand.”
Brad’s camp is claiming that Angelina is coming out swinging with the abuse allegations because she wants to win the court of public opinion in order to get custody of their six children. The source said, “Angelina is putting out [the abuse] story to take the kids away from him. Angelina’s team’s campaign to smear him is so aggressive.”
A source on Brad’s side said that Angelina is gunning for a job with the United Nations, but she needs to be able to take the children out of Los Angeles in order to do so. The Brad source added, “He and Angelina fought a lot recently, and she knows how to push his buttons. But he is adamant that he did not hit these kids, like she’s trying to say.”
