“It was super-small but very romantic and beautiful,” a source told US Weekly. “Just a few” close friends and relatives attended the small ceremony.
Saldana and Perego, both 34, were spotted together in May, but otherwise they’ve been very private. While it seems sudden, insiders tell US that the actress and her husband have known each other “for a long time,” and they have “great chemistry.”
Apparently the two started dating shortly after she split from Bradley Cooper, who she dated on and off for two years.
Congrats to the couple!
Earlier this week we discussed Zoe Saldana’s cover of Allure Magazine (you know, the one that calls out her weight as 115 pounds on the cover). Anyhoo, when she wasn’t complaining about not getting to play Nina Simone, she was also talking about how she could see herself with a woman, raising children. “I might end up with a woman raising my children. That’s how androgynous I am.” She used the word androgynous, which she clearly doesn’t understand the definition of. Androgynous means “having the characteristics or nature of both male and female.” I think what Zoe MEANT was she could see herself ending up being bisexual, but whatevs.
Anyway, on the red carpet yesterday for the premiere of Star Trek: Into Darkness, certain reporters asked her to clarify what she meant by androgynous.
Zoe Saldana’s new interview with Allure magazine has attracted a lot of attention — in more ways than one. In addition to posing nude for the June issue, the 34-year-old Star Trek Into Darkness actress allowed the magazine to print her weight on the front cover and opened up about her sexuality in a revealing profile within.
Under Saldana’s name on the gorgeous cover, Allure wrote, “115 pounds of grit and heartache.” Inside the issue, Saldana showed off her slim figure in a sexy photo shoot that included a fully nude shot.
Saldana, who split from Bradley Cooper earlier this year, also said she may consider dating a woman in the future. “[I might] end up with a woman raising my children,” she explained of her sexuality. “That’s how androgynous I am.”
When asked if she’s ever been in a relationship with a woman before, Saldana said, “Promise me one thing: You’re going to ask this question [in the article]—- if you choose to, just put three dots as my response. That’s it.”
At the Hollywood premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness on Tuesday, May 14, Saldana further explained her quotes to reporters. “It wasn’t a generalization. It was a statement that I strongly stand by,” she said of calling herself “androgynous.”
“I said it and they literally put it word for word. I guess what I was trying to let the world understand is that it’s everybody’s decision to do whatever they want to do and who they love is their own personal decision.”
“As of today, I’ve been attracted to the male species but if one day I wake up and I want to be with a woman, I will do that because it is my life and therefore it is my decision.”
Okay sure. Whatever. So about this dress she’s wearing. What do we think?? I think she could make a paper bag look good, so on HER it’s not that bad, I guess….but it is an interesting dress, no?
Zoe Saldana lands the June cover of Allure Magazine, and on the cover, the actress reveals her weight, which seems bizarre to me. The unusual cover line is: “Zoe Saldana: 115 Pounds of Grit and Heartache.”
Anyway, she looks beautiful in these pictures. Tiny, but beautiful. In the interview, I don’t think she came off very well, if I’m being honest. She has a cockiness, or air about her. I don’t know. Read the highlights below, let me know what you think:
On possibly being a lesbian, and not knowing what androgynous means: “I might end up with a woman raising my children. That’s how androgynous I am.”
On being with a woman? “Yes, I was raised that open.”
Has she ever been with another woman? She deliberates, then says, “Promise me one thing: You’re going to ask this question [in the article]—if you choose to, just put three dots as my response. That’s it.”
Dating actors: “Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.”
She doesn’t “test” relationships: “If I have something good in front of me, it doesn’t matter if it’s a person or a pair of shoes, I’m not going to test something else. It’s insecure and it’s immature.”
Saldana is emphatic about the difficulties she faced when she filmed Pirates of the Caribbean:The Curse of the Black Pearl: The “leadership,” she says, “pick[ed] who to be nice to and who to dispose of because they’re not important. Those are signs of a very poor character.” Then she adds: “I can be a nobody according to you at that time. But I’ve always been a somebody.”
The criticism about Zoe playing Nina Simone: “Let me tell you, if Elizabeth Taylor can be Cleopatra, I can be Nina—I’m sorry,” says Saldana, her tone not in the least apologetic. “It doesn’t matter how much backlash I will get for it. I will honor and respect my black community because that’s who I am.”
She’s more concerned about misogyny than racism: The actress is actually far less concerned about her skin shade than about being what she calls “a woman in a man’s world.” She says, “It’s hard enough to be a woman on this earth. So to be an American or black or Latina, it’s arbitrary compared to our battles as women.”
Saldana has found a balance of ambition and self-acceptance. “Now, in the last few years of my life, I’m actually claiming what I want and not being afraid that I’m jinxing it, that it might not happen, that I might be disappointed if it doesn’t happen,” she says. “It’s OK to say, ‘This is what I want’—and go after it. And if it doesn’t happen, it’s OK. Be a reasonable person with yourself.”
See what I mean? Maybe she’s just not one of those girls who’s all warm and fuzzy. I get that… but if you’re being interviewed, a little more …. warmness might pay off. I thought her comments about playing Nina Simone were off. What was she trying to say about Elizabeth Taylor playing Cleopatra?
TWO MORE half dressed pics of Zoe after the jump! (more…)
Last night was the 2013 MTV Movie Awards. They were on so much earlier this year, I wonder why? Every year they fall on or around my birthday, which is the first week of June. What’s with doing them in April, MTV?
Anyway, what did you think of the show? I’ll get to more of that later, but first and foremost, I have to say Rebel Wilson was a TERRIBLE host. She was completely UN-FUNNY the whole time, and I kept thinking to myself, WHY didn’t she hire herself a writer? Those jokes COULD have been funny, but they came out terribly. She was trying too hard, if you ask me. I felt uncomfortable FOR HER most of the time.
Anyway – we’ll talk more about the awards (and last night’s stage crasher) later. Now we’re all about FASHION! What was everyone wearing? Who was your favorite? Let’s begin!!
Selena Gomez wore a gold dress by Julian McDonald. I think she looks beautiful. The dress is gorg!
Kerry Washington wore Michael Kors.
Zoe Saldana wore Givenchy.
SNOOKI’S DRAMATIC WEIGHT LOSS, KESHA, JWOWW & MANY MORE AFTER THE JUMP! (more…)
Oh, what a life. Yesterday I took my dog for a walk, vacuumed my floors and cooked dinner.
PS: I LOVE that dress.
