Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff to tour together again. Ah yeah.

freshprince-rockthehouse-albumpromo.jpg

Will Smith is reuniting with his old hip-hop partner Jazzy Jeff for a world tour. The pair found fame in the 1980s and 1990s with hit records including Parents Just Don’t Understand and Summertime, and won the first ever Grammy in the Rap category in 1989.

Now Smith has vowed to put his hugely successful movie career on hold to revisit the project – both in the studio and on stage. He says, “We always talk about doing a JJFP (Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince) record and a huge tour, we just have to clear the time to do it. Right now, the plan is we are supposed to go out on tour together at the end of this year.”

Jada and Will, still going strong!

With her highly-anticipated blockbuster film Reign Over Me – starring Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle – about to hit theaters this weekend, Jada Pinkett Smith has a lot to be happy about.

Jada – who is featured on the cover of current issue of Tango magazine – is also celebrating nine years of marriage to Hollywood heartthrob Will Smith. Jada shares in the current issue of Tango magazine how her and Will continue to grow together and how even their tinsel town love story has gone through bad times, “if you can survive them, you’ll have an even deeper connection.”

“The Jada you see on the red carpet is the person he [Will] helped me to become. I don’t think I’d be the woman I am today without his love and vision,” she says. And Jada tells Tango how she “anchored his [Will’s] life in a way that allowed him to expand. I gave him the confidence to be what he always envisioned himself to be.”

Smith also admits to Tango some of her and Will’s naughty little secrets, “La Perla [lingerie] almost every night.” And what part of Jada does Will adore? “That would be my breasts. And he likes the curve from my torso to my hip.”

“Happyness” Is a Warm Reception at Weekend Box Office

pursuit-of-happyness-2006.jpg

Will Smith continued his run of #1 box office debuts with “The Pursuit of Happyness,” which took in $27 million, finishing ahead of the dragon tale “Eragon,” with $23.45 million and the live-action version of EB White’s children’s fable “Charlotte’s Web.” Besides “Happyness,” Smith previously won the weekend ticket take with “I, Robot,” the “Men in Black” films, and last year’s “Hitch.” Meanwhile, “Dreamgirls” opened strong in limited release, with $360,000, as did “The Good German,” the latest Steven Soderbergh – George Clooney collaboration. Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto” took a steep dive, picking up just $6.3 million in its second weekend.

Did anyone go see it this weekend?  I’d like to see it… Instead, I took the boys to see “Charlottes Web” which was totally cute.  Except Charlotte freaked me out – she looked so real.  And I hate me some spiders.

Will Smith insists the only thing that will ever split up him and wife Jada Pinkett Smith is death.

The “The Pursuit of Happyness” actor says divorce is not an option for him or his spouse because he believes in the vows they both took. He told MTV: “Divorce can’t be an option. With Jada, I stood up in front of God and said, ‘Til death do us part.’ So there are two possible outcomes.”

“One, we are going to be together till death, or two, I am dead.” Despite his anti-divorce stance, Will has already got divorced once. He married Sharee Zampino – who he has a son, Willard Christopher III, nicknamed “Trey,” with – in 1992. The pair legally separated in 1995.

Will and Jada – who are both followers of Scientology, a sci-fi cult based on the belief that humans are descended from aliens – married in 1997. They have two children, son Jaden Christopher Syre, eight, and six-year-old daughter Willow Camille Reign.

Will Smith Home Schools Kids Because He Can Teach Them Anything

will-smith9.jpg

Will Smith refuses to send his two children with wife Jada Pinkett Smith to school, claiming the system limits their education. Smith insists he didn’t learn his most valuable lessons in school and claims there are no limits to what he can teach Jaden, eight; Willow, six; and his 14-year-old son Trey, from his marriage to Sheree Smith.

He says, “The date of the Boston Tea Party does not matter. I know how to learn anything I want to learn. I absolutely know that I could learn how to fly the space shuttle because someone else knows how to fly it, and they put it in a book. Give me the book, and I do not need somebody to stand up in front of the class.”

Here is an excerpt from his interview with Readers Digest:

RD: Have you ever thought about going back to college?
Smith: The things that have been most valuable to me I did not learn in school. Traditional education is based on facts and figures and passing tests — not on a comprehension of the material and its application to your life. Jada and I homeschool our children, because the date of the Boston Tea Party does not matter.

RD: But there are some basics in education that need to be taught.
Smith: Of course there are. Reading, writing and arithmetic, because those are the languages of our country.

RD: When you say you homeschool, do you mean you actually teach them?
Smith: No, we have hired teachers who teach what we feel is important. For example, Plato’s Republic — kids need to know that. Why is that not taught in first grade?

RD: You think kids in elementary school should read Plato’s Republic?
Smith: Yeah. You cannot be an American without reading it and Aristotle’s Politics. That is what the forefathers of this country read, and they used them to create what I believe is the finest system of government that has ever existed.

RD: So, you don’t see any reason to go back to a formal education yourself?
Smith: I know how to learn anything I want to learn. I absolutely know that I could learn how to fly the space shuttle because someone else knows how to fly it, and they put it in a book. Give me the book, and I do not need somebody to stand up in front of the class.

RD: They put physics in a book, but I know I could never be a physicist.
Smith: The first step is you have to say that you can.

What do you think about homeschooling? I was homeschooled for about 6 years… and I didn’t like it. Now that I have kids of my own, I can see how having daily social interaction is VERY IMPORTANT… and you just don’t get that being homeschooled.  With that said, public and private schools aren’t perfect either – I just think homeschooling your kids can be detrimental to a childs development. But – that’s just my opinion.
