The Whitney Houston Estate has cancelled a planned duet between Christina Aguilera and a hologram of the late singer, which is probably for the best.
Apparently Pat Houston, executor of the estate, has issued the following statement on the performance was set to air on The Voice‘s season 10 finale, but never was. She said:
We are so appreciative of the opportunity for the Whitney Houston hologram to appear on NBC’s The Voice with a talent pairing as extraordinary as Christina Aguilera and Whitney Houston. We were looking to deliver a ground breaking duet performance for the fans of both artists. Holograms are new technology that take time to perfect, and we believe with artists of this iconic caliber, it must be perfect. Whitney’s legacy and her devoted fans deserve perfection. After closely viewing the performance, we decided the hologram was not ready to air. We have much respect and appreciation for Christina, and she was absolutely flawless.
ET previously spoke with Aguilera about the planned performance, which was something she was excited about, blah blah blah excited:
“I am sworn to secrecy,” she stressed during a backstage interview at The Voice on May 9. “I can’t say anything, but I’m very excited about the finale. Very exciting things happening.”
And yet, it was. And honestly, the hologram has been in the works since September 2015.News of the planned hologram in the singer’s likeness was first announced in September 2015.
“It’s a great opportunity for her fans to see a reinvention of one the most celebrated female artists in history and to continue a legacy of performances that will not be forgotten in years to come,” Pat Houston said in a statement at the time.
I mean, that’s true- a hologram does sound like an exciting way to celebrate an artist’s life. And yet, there’s something so cheap about it, too. Glad this one especially didn’t make the cut. LET ME HAVE MY MEMORIES!

Woah, this is gonna be CRAZY!
The first ever estate-authorized documentary on Whitney Houston is in the works, with Kevin Macdonald at the helm set to direct.
Sure, it could be a pandering, soft-focus look at the singer’s life, but it could also be awesome and I’m choosing to believe it’s going to be awesome, what with the “unprecedented” levels of access he has to Whitney’s closest family and friends, alongside hours and hours of never before seen video from the singer’s life at every point.
Macdonald has already won an Oscar for his powerful terrorism documentary One Day In September, said of his motivation centering on Whitney in the project:
“The story that is never told about Whitney is just how brilliant she was as an artist; by many measures she had the greatest voice of the last 50 years. She changed the way pop music was sung — bringing it back full circle to its blues and gospel roots. She was also completely unique in being a black pop star who sold in countries where black artists don’t traditionally sell.”
Macdonald included more thoughts on what we should expect in the film:
“We have access to never-before-seen footage of Whitney that charts her whole life from her beginnings singing in her Church’s gospel choir to the day of her tragic death at the age of 48, and three decades of her music including exclusive demo recordings, rare performances and audio archive. Although we won’t shy away from the darker parts of Whitney’s life — her descent into addiction — I want audiences to walk out of the cinema and feel positive about Whitney and her music. I want to reveal a woman that even her most die-hard fans never knew; and a woman those new to her life and music will never forget.”
No date has been set yet for a release, but obvi, it’s going to be a huge deal. I just hope it’s done right!

In a new development surrounding the tragedy that is Bobbi Kristina Brown’s situation, we’ve learned that in her final days, she is surrounded by music and pictures of her late mother Whitney Houston.
A source close to the situation said, “After the decision was made to take her off life support, Bobbi Kristina was moved to the facility so she could pass on peacefully. The family wanted Bobbi Kristina to be comfortable.”
The source went on to say, “She was dressed in her favorite pajamas, and surrounded by framed photographs of her and her mother. The lights in her room were dimmed, and scented candles were lit.”
The inside added, “Whitney’s songs that were her favorites, including ‘Greatest Love of All,’ ‘I Will Always Love You’ and ‘Didn’t We Almost Have It All,’ played softly.”
So sad. We hope that she is resting comfortably as she goes through the final stages of her life.

Things aren’t looking too well for Bobbi Kristina Brown. As her family holds a vigil for her in hopes that God will throw a miracle in her direction, doctors have said that they should really consider pulling the plug on her life support. Bobby Brown learned the news on his birthday that there was little hope for his daughter’s recovery and we’ve learned that the family may let her go on the same day that Whitney Houston passed away so tragically – three years ago.
Fox News reports:
Bobbi’s grandmother Cissy Houston floated the idea of a Feb. 11 death over the weekend during discussions with the Brown family at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
The Browns gave their blessing to pull the plug at the stroke of midnight to align the date with the 2012 passing of the legendary singer at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The move is a symbolic way to keep the mother and daughter together for eternity, according to a Brown family source.
Meanwhile, her boyfriend Nick Gordon is being investigated because of the injuries that Bobbi Kristina suffered prior to her drowning in the bathtub in their Roswell, Georgia home. Local news sources have revealed that Bobbi Kristina had injuries on her face and her mouth – sparking the investigation into Nick Gordon. His pal Max Lomas said that Nick was acting strangely when they found Bobbi Kristina.
Let’s hope that the family can finally get some closure with this tragedy. Leave your best wishes for the family in the comments section below.
