Victoria Beckham plans to be the nice judge when it comes to critiquing contestants on American Idol — but she expects to trade some not-so-nice barbs with prickly judge Simon Cowell.

“I like that fact that’s he’s honest. I think he’s very funny,” Beckham told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Friday. “He has a very tongue-in-cheek British sense of humor, which I have too. I’m looking forward to a bit of banter. I hope he does give me a little bit of a hard time. I love that. I feed off of that.”

Beckham, 35, says she doesn’t know Cowell well, but has one very pointed memory of him. “He is the only man in the music industry who turned down the Spice Girls and said we would never work,” Beckham said with a laugh.

Asked if she plans follow in the footsteps of Paula Abdul, who’s always been the most kind and nurturing judge on the show, Beckman says, “I want to be nice to people. I know how it feels to stand there and be judged … I don’t want to shatter anybody’s dream, but at the same time there’s nothing wrong with constructive criticism.”

As for whether she feels guilty replacing Abdul, she says, “I don’t. I’m a spiritual person and I believe that you get back whet you put out there, and I hope she does something that is bigger and better …. There’s something great for her around the corner, I’m sure.”

So how should prospective contestants aim to please Posh Spice? “What I’m looking for [in an Idol winner] is a great singer and somebody who has that star quality. It’s about the whole package.”

One other quality the fashion-savvy star would like to see: a contestant who possesses “natural style.”

Beckham is currently in Denver, where she’s set to participate in the first round of auditions for the upcoming season of American Idol.

Victoria Beckham takes charge during a photo shoot for her upcoming autumn/ winter dress collection. Earlier in the day, Beckham had received a less than raptuous welcome when he returned to LA Galaxy’s ground following an extended stint on loan to Italian giants AC Milan. The soccer superstar was booed and had insults hurled at him from sections of the home crowd when he took to the field.

David Beckham’s sons are desperate to get tattoos like him.

The British soccer star – who has boys Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, six, and four-year-old Cruz with wife Victoria Beckham – has revealed his children are so impressed with his body art they are keen to copy it.

He explained: “One of them said to me recently, ‘How old do I have to be before I get my first tattoo?’ I was like, ‘A lot older than you are now!’ ”

The 34-year-old sportsman is famed for his intricate inkings, and sports sleeves of tattoos on both arms.

He recently unveiled his newest addition, a ring of roses emblazoned on his left arm.

Victoria, 35, is also a fan of body art – she has several tattoos, including five stars on her lower back, a Hebrew saying down her spine and her husband’s initials on her wrist – but is believed to be trying to convince David not to add to his collection.

David was being interviewed on the ‘Today Show’, and made quite an impression on host Matt Lauer.

After Matt admired his smart grey suit, David whipped it off and gave it to him.

Referring to internet auction site eBay, Matt joked: “Afterwards, he came down in jeans and gave me the suit off his back. I am selling it on eBay, are you kidding me? His underwear is back in the dressing room.’”

Victoria Beckham is a pro when it comes to posing in front of the cameras.

But doing anything other than placing her hand on her ever-shrinking hip and pouting her lips may be problem.

This may be the reason why the pin-thin fashion plate is reportedly taking acting lessons in hopes of landing a cameo role in the “Sex and the City” sequel, the Daily Mail reports.

Due to her busy rehearsal schedule for the Spice Girls’ reunion tour in 2007, Posh turned down a walk-on role in the first fashion-obsessed film.

However, producers are reportedly eager to cast the 35-year-old fashionista alongside the film’s four main females in the next movie.

“She really wanted to be in the last movie but wasn’t able to take part because of her commitments with the Spice Girls,” a source said. “This time she’s keen to take part.”

Posh first dabbled with acting in the 1997 flick “Spice World” and again on the small screen in a 2007 episode of “Ugly Betty.”

Given that her only experience thus far has been playing herself, Posh may need to brush up on her acting skills before sharing the big screen with the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall.

David Beckham has accepted “substantial” libel damages from a newspaper which claimed he “made a play” for model Mariann Fogarasy.

The 34-year-old footballer was not at London’s High Court for the settlement against Express Group Newspapers over the article, published in April.

The Daily Star claimed Mr. Beckham had been emailing Ms Fogarasy with “private party” invitations since they met.

The paper has retracted the claims and accepted he did not behave that way.

Completely untrue

Kate Wilson, who was representing the newspaper, apologised to the Beckham family for the distress, embarrassment and injury caused.

Mr. Beckham’s solicitor, Gerrard Tyrrell, told Mr. Justice Eady that the serious and defamatory allegations were completely untrue.

The article had been splashed across the front page of the paper and was also published on its website.

It had claimed the emails began after the pair met at a recent AC Milan match.

It has not been disclosed how much Mr. Beckham, who has been married to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham for nearly 10 years, will receive from the paper.
