Thomas Beatie made headlines by being the first man to have a baby naturally (well, not exactly). Now, he wants to give the gift of life to someone else — by being a surrogate!
Life & Style magazine reports:
Thomas Beatie, the first transgender man to give birth, has a new bombshell to drop: “I want to be a surrogate,” he tells Life & Style. “When I was first approached with the idea, I thought it was crazy. Then I thought about what it means and what having a family means to us. I thought, This is a huge deal and I’m capable of it, why not?”
Thomas, 36, and wife Nancy welcomed their third child, son Jensen, in July and want other couples to experience the same joy. “If I can do this and help make another family fulfill their dream of having a child, then that’s what I want to do.”
Thomas also adds that he and his wife may want to add on to their own family. “If we don’t find the right family for surrogacy, I think I have one more person inside of me,” he tells Life & Style.

AskMen today announced the results of their annual reader survey: the Top 49 Most Influential Men of 2010, with Jon Stewart from The Daily Show claiming the No. 1 position after over half a million votes were cast. Now in its fifth year, the Top 49 Most Influential Men challenges AskMen’s 16 million monthly readers to determine which male figures have made the biggest impact, and ultimately, shaped what it means to be a modern man in 2010.
“It seems that this year in particular, our readers have chosen unlikely influencers; guys who don’t always play by the rules, and in many cases, created their own norms in opposition to the current times,” comments James Bassil, Editor-in-Chief of AskMen. “Jon Stewart earned his title by speaking frankly, and in the process, successfully engaging millions of ordinary citizens in politics.
The men honored on this year’s Top 49 Most Influential Men list demonstrate a rule-breaker ethic that has transformed their respective industries. Mark Zuckerberg’s social network has profoundly changed the way the world interacts with one another and James Franco proved that he is more than just a movie star by enrolling in four graduate programs, publishing a book, alongside making a series of experimental short films. This year’s list even includes Steven Slater, the JetBlue employee turned folk hero who had the gumption to say enough is enough.
The complete roster of this year’s Top 49 Most Influential Men, including profiles of each honoree, can be found at www.AskMen.com.
I’m not going to lie – I was very surprised to see who made #5 on the list. In order, the Top 49 are… click here!

Kim Kardashian was due to be presented a diamond-encrusted cake worth over a million dollars at her birthday bash at Glo Nightclub on Saturday. But the surprise was ruined as the reports streamed across the internet.
Now, she has turned down the cake surprise, calling it ridiculous. Radar Online reports:
“Kim was adamantly against accepting the cake,” an organizer of the reality star’s birthday festivities, GLO Night Club’s Danielle Orsino, told RadarOnline.com exclusively. “It’s a shame that she couldn’t just enjoy it for what it is, a record-breaking diamond-encrusted cake gifted her, a lover of diamonds.”
Manhattan restaurateur Nino Selimaj, who made the cake, was slated to unveil it in a news conference Friday, but has since cancelled the event.
“Her people contacted Nino… thanked him for his efforts and explained they couldn’t accept,” Orsino told us exclusively. “Kim’s fans will be pleased to know that although she will not be accepting the cake, she is still appearing for her birthday at GLO on Saturday, October 23, as planned.”
Kim reacted to the news of the pricey cake Thursday, posting on her blog, “First of all, this is the first I’ve heard about this, and I would never allow anyone to spend that much money on a cake.
She has a point. It’s really ridiculous that they would want to gift her with such a lavish gift when there are people hurting in the world. What do you think?
