Heroes Spinoff?

heroes_blog_1_0.jpg

First Grey’s, now Heroes?

At their schedule presentation today in New York, NBC announced a 6-episode spin-off of their breakout hit Heroes, Heroes: Origins.

The limited series will feature characters not yet seen on the original show. Viewers will get the chance to vote for their favorite Origins star, who will then join the cast of the real thing in the ’08-’09 season.

Though the standard network season is 22 episodes, NBC has ordered 24 Heroes segments, which, when combined with Origins, brings the total number of heroic hours on the net to 30. Heroes: Origins will air mid-season, in order to give Heroes a hiatus (unfortunately, NBC has not discovered a way to imbue the staff and crew with superpowers of their own).

In addition to super-sizing their Heroes order, NBC has picked up 30 episodes of The Office, including 5 hour-longs, and 25 episodes of My Name is Earl.

With all the lengthened seasons, it looks like NBC is transitioning from “must-see TV” to “no-repeat TV”.

Sorry ladies, “Gilmore Girls” has been cancelled.

Okay, I didn’t even know this crap was still on the air!  (I never got the appeal of this show)

Say goodbye to “Gilmore Girls.”

After weeks of talks aimed at bringing the show back for a limited run next season, the CW and Warner Bros. TV have decided to wrap production on the quirky dramedy that focused on fast-talking femmes. Skein, now in its seventh season, will air its final episode May 15.

“Gilmore” was a holdover from the now-defunct WB network. Debuting in 2000, it quickly became one of the Frog’s signature skeins, with crix eating up the witty banter between mom Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel). Series was set in the fictional hamlet of Stars Hollow, CT.

CW and WBTV released a joint statement noting the passing Thursday morning.

“Announcing the final season of ‘Gilmore Girls’ is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television,” statement read. “This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television’s most memorable, lovable characters.”

David Rosenthal exec produced and served as showrunner on the current season of “Gilmore,” which was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. WBTV and CW thanked the producers and cast for their work, as well as crix who supported the show with glowing reviews.

“(We) promise to give this series the send off it deserves,” statement said.

Can you catch any clues?

ew1.jpg

Each of Entertainment Weekly’s 5 Heroes covers are apparently packed with references and teasers to the final episodes of the season.

I love Heroes.  Love it!  Monday’s episode kicked butt.  Is it wrong that I’m hot for Sylar?

Let’s discuss…..do you see anything in these covers that stands out??

Networks clean house.

blackd.jpg

It was a Bloody Monday in TV land as the nets delivered bad news to the casts and crews of several skeins, including “The Wedding Bells,” “Six Degrees,” “7th Heaven” and “The Black Donnellys.”

I’ve got several episodes of Six Degree’s and The Black Donnellys saved in my DVR.  Guess I can just go ahead and delete those.

Stanley Tucci joins ER!

prev2.jpg

Stanley Tucci will be joining ER for the remainder of this season – and into the next.  He will be playing Stephen Moretti “a brilliant ICU turned ER cheif.” So that means that Kovac is out? Hmmm…interesting.  And yes, I still watch ER. (I realize I may be alone.)

So did you watch “The Riches” on Monday night?

thriches-prem-3.jpg

If so…let’s discuss.

So I finally watched The Riches last night, (cause there are too many great shows on Monday – no time to fit them all in!).

FX has been heavily promoting it’s new show, The Riches starring Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver as the Malloy’s, a family of gypsies that live and travel around in a beaten up RV.  But you can’t let all this heavy promoting fool you – they did the same thing with Courteney Cox’ hugely dissappointing Dirt – and that show sucks.

So anyway – I decided to give The Riches a shot – because FX is the home of Nip/Tuck, and hello that is my favorite show (even though the last 2 seasons have kinda sucked).

I really wasn’t expectinig much – because I DID expect alot from Dirt, and well - Dirt just blows. And what I got from The Riches was – I liked it…. I think. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t GREAT. One thing I will say – is it has potential.

The Malloy’s are a family of criminals (in one of the first scenes you see Minnie Driver in corn-rows leaving prison).  Their theives – all of them.  They con and steal for a living.

In the premiere episode, they are involved in an accident on the freeway that leaves a couple (the Riches) dead.  The Riches BMW crashes, and Mr. & Mrs. Rich are killed.  The Malloy family are at the scene, and Mr. Malloy (Eddie Izzard) starts going through the car, and Mr. Riches wallet.  He takes the money – he takes the keys to Mr. Riches just-built home.  The Malloy’s then push the crashed BMW (along with Mr. & Mrs. Rich) into a swamp – getting rid of the Riches altogether.

And the idea to actually BECOME the Riches is born.  They move into their house (which is practically a mansion), they assume their jobs…and their new life begins.

The problem I had with The Riches was that they are not very likeable.  It’s kind of hard to like them – when they’ve hidden the bodies of the Riches just to assume their lives.  I dunno..I think it could be good.  I just wasn’t completely blown away by the premiere.

What did you think?

“Oops! I totally meant to pick that other chick. My bad.”

bachelor_blog_0.jpg

The Bachelor continues it’s break-up streak with the latest bachelor. US is reporting:

Prince Lorenzo Borghese has given his lady love the proverbial royal flush. On Season 9 of ABC’s The Bachelor, the cosmetics heir and dog products entrepreneur (who is of Italian nobility) picked public school teacher Jennifer Wilson over L.A. publicist Sadie Murray.

“Watching Sadie drive away in the limo was by far the worst moment of this entire journey,” a tearful Borghese said during the finale.

Apparently, he never got over saying goodbye to the publicist (and proud virgin). Despite having given Wilson a promise ring on the show’s finale, a source close to Borghese tells Us, “Lorenzo and Jennifer are now on the rocks, and he’s gone back to Sadie. They’re spending time together.”

So it is serious? “Sadie is moving to New York City, where Lorenzo lives, to pursue her career.”

How desperate does Sadie have to be to take him back!?  Don’t do it Sadie!!
