Here is the new trailer for Baz Luhrman’s version of The Great Gatsby.

It’s exactly what you would expect from Baz, which can either be a good thing – or a bad thing. I loved ‘Romeo + Juliet’, but hated ‘Australia’. It really could go either way. The fact that this movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, and from what I can see, neither of them sing….. is a good thing.

I am excited to see it. I hope it’s good!

Paul Thomas Anderson is one of my favorite directors. His last film, 2007′s “There Will Be Blood” is still one of my favorite movies of all time.

This looks like it’s going to be as intense and amazing as his last film. We’re getting just a tease of the film, since ‘The Master’ won’t be out until October. But I’ll take what I can get. This looks like it’s going to be great!

“Are you mixed up?” asks an at-first unseen military officer to Joaquin Phoenix. “Are you more jumpy than you were before?” Phoenix’s presumed-troubled soldier isn’t — he ranks his “overall health” as, yes, “strong” — but you might be after watching the tense 90-second clip.

Judging from the trailer, “The Master” could be a welcome comeback for Phoenix — who you last saw growing a beard and becoming a rapper. In the short clip, the former Oscar nominee looks like some wild amalgam of crazy Robert De Niro in “Taxi Driver” and crazy Daniel Day-Lewis in “There Will Be Blood.” This is a good thing!

In development for years, “The Master” was originally thought to be Anderson’s treatise on Scientology and its founder, L. Ron Hubbard. That angle has been downplayed in the last year, but the story still sounds familiar: in the 1950s, a religious maverick (Philip Seymour Hoffman) sees his organization gain a foothold in America. Phoenix plays Hoffman’s young cohort, while Amy Adams and Laura Dern provide onscreen support. As with “There Will Be Blood,” Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood penned the score.

The Weinstein Company recently picked up “The Master” and set a release date for Oct. 12. The film will screen some footage at the Cannes Film Festival on Monday.

I didn’t put it together that this movie was kind-of-sort-of the sequel to ‘Knocked Up’ when I heard about it ages ago. Now that we’re getting our first look at the trailer, I can see it! Looks like everyone’s there except Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl! I love Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann (and Melissa McCarthy!? Forgettaboutit!), I can’t wait to see this!!

PS: Those girls who play their daughters in the movie, are Leslie Mann’s actual daughters. She’s married to the director, Judd Apatow!

We’re finally getting our first look at Ben Affleck’s new movie, ‘Argo’!

Based on true events, Argo chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage.

But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

The film, which Affleck directed, will be released on October 12!

This movie has so many stars, I couldn’t even name them all in the title! We have Tom Hardy (who will always get top billing in my book), Shia Labeouf, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain and Guy Pearce.

As the Bondurants’ legend grows, so too does the danger, and it’s not long before the brothers must face the consequences of their transgressions, or rewrite the myth and the lawthemselves.

In case you missed it, the film is kinda/sorta based on Channing’s life. He used to be a stripper in Tampa, before making it as an actor. He used his past for the basis of this film, and honestly – I don’t think it looks that bad! It’s directed by Steven Soderbergh, and also stars Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello and Matthew McConaughey.

I’m a bit bummed that the movie doesn’t stick to Channing’s actual life – where as stripping led to acting (not designing furniture like in the movie).

We’ll see … hopefully the movie is good. I’ve really liked most of the movies Channing has been doing lately (with the lone exception of ‘The Vow’).
