Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo dishes exclusively to MTV’s The Seven about his upcoming wedding to Dallas-Fort Worth’s KDAF reporter Candice Crawford (Chace Crawford’s sister). The two talk being engaged, planning amidst busy schedules, and what the couple does to chill out.
This is the FIRST TIME either of them have talked about the wedding.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is engaged to Candice Crawford, his rep confirms to UsMagazine.com exclusively.
Dating since September 2009, Romo, 30, proposed to Crawford (a one-time Miss Missouri and sister to Gossip Girl’sChace Crawford) in Dallas on Thursday, her 24th birthday.
Romo, who broke his collarbone in October and hasn’t played since, dated Jessica Simpson for nearly two years; he ended their relationship in July 2009, the night before her 29th birthday. Before Simpson, he also romanced Carrie Underwood and actress Sophia Bush.
After her ugly split with Romo, Simpson found love again with Eric Johnson, who used to play in the NFL, this May. They became engaged in November — just a week after Nick Lachey, Simpson’s ex-husband, confirmed his engagement to Vanessa Minnillo after four years of dating.
Jessica Simpson was in attendance at the White House Correspondents Dinner, looking bright in a yellow ensemble. At the afterparty, however, things weren’t so sunny.
Jess ran into her ex, Tony Romo, along with his new girlfriend, Candice Crawford!
A witness tells UsMagazine.com that the trio’s chat was “tense.”
Adds another observer: “You could tell they were uncomfortable.”
“It wasn’t awkward,” another source counters. “Candice didn’t say much. Jessica and Tony are still friends and talk. It was the first time Jessica met Candice.”
Keep your head up, Jess! There are other fish in the sea!
Former Miss Missouri & Dallas TV sports reporter Candice Crawford is supposedly dating QB Tony Romo! She’s also Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford’s sister.
Romantic relations between Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo appear to be absolutely done and dusted, but according to insiders, the surprise break-up was largely a result of peer pressure from Romo’s pals and Jess’s love of adult beverages.
“Jessica would get really drunk and obnoxious, it was out of control. She would be sprawled everywhere with her head on his lap and the look on Tony’s face said it all,” an insider told Tarts. “He was so embarrassed in front of all the guys and his teammates were really harsh on him over it. Breaking up was a really hard decision for Tony to make.”
We’re also told that the Dallas Cowboy really did love the pop princess and “fought for her” with his skeptical friends, but in the end, it got to a point where it just didn’t make sense for him to stay in the relationship.
But in Simpson’s defense, a friend from her camp said that she doesn’t drink too much, and that there were numerous issues going on between them before Romo said his goodbyes.
