Toni Braxton faces a daily fight to get fit enough for the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars because medics were only able to control her heart issues a month ago.
The Unbreak My Heart singer had to scrap a series of Las Vegas shows in May and June after a medical emergency forced her to check into hospital with severe breathing problems.
She has since been diagnosed with coronary microvascular angina - a condition which starves parts of the body of oxygenated blood.
Braxton, 40, spent the rest of the summer trying to balance medication and control the condition, and now she insists her goal isn’t winning the TV dance contest but making it through rehearsals to get to episode one.
She tells TV Guide magazine, “If I can make it through the five weeks of rehearsals without getting chest tightness, that’s all I want.”
Braxton admits she’s already well on the way to recovery after starting off the summer in a terrible state.
She explains, “I could hardly walk up the stairs… (It felt) like someone was pushing on my chest.”

Toni Braxton has told her Dancing With The Stars partner not to treat her like an invalid as he plans energetic routines for the recovering star.
Braxton, who suffers from heart condition pericarditis, had to cancel a revue in Las Vegas at the beginning of the summer after falling ill - but she insists she’s well enough to compete on the TV dance-off.
And she’s told professional dancer Alec Mazzo not to treat her any differently to his fit and healthy partners.
Mazzo, who won the first season of the dance show with soap star Kelly Monaco, says, “She told me herself, ‘Give me the competitive choreography you can; I’m gonna deal with it.’”

Toni Braxton’s Las Vegas stage return has been delayed again after the singer canceled a string of shows last month due to a prolonged illness.
The R&B singer, who has a heart condition, was set to return to the stage on May 6th, but has put off headlining her Toni Braxton: Revealed show for at least another month, according to reports.
The star scrapped shows at the Flamingo Las Vegas on April 7th after she was briefly hospitalized with chest pains.
The 40-year-old is said to be desperate to get back to the show as her run at the Las Vegas venue is due to end in August.
A representative for Grammy-winning Braxton refuses to comment on her medical condition.

Braxton, who has a heart condition, scrapped shows at the Flamingo Las Vegas last week after she was briefly hospitalized with chest pains. She then canceled a total of 14 shows, and has now chosen not to perform again this month.
The 40-year-old Grammy winner will resume her show at the Flamingo Showroom on May 6th.
The cause of Braxton’s hospitalization still hasn’t been made public, although Braxton has been treated for pericarditis, a viral inflammation of the heart, in the past.

Toni Braxton’s recent hospital visit has resulted in her canceling the rest of this month’s performances of her Las Vegas show.
The showroom at the Flamingo Las Vegas, where the 40-year-old has been headlining in Toni Braxton: Revealed, shall remain dark this week while Braxton undergoes additional medical tests following her April 7 hospitalization for chest pain, the Associated Press reports.
She is due to return to the show May 6. Until then, the Flamingo will offer refunds for the canceled shows.
The six-time Grammy winner – who on a previous occasion was treated for hypertension and pericarditis, a viral inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart – was released from the hospital April 8 after undergoing precautionary tests at a Las Vegas medical facility. She was said to be resting at home.

Toni Braxton has been admitted to a Vegas hospital — breathe again!
We hear Braxton was admitted to St. Rose Dominican Hospital late last night after her show at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. FOX 5 in Vegas reports the diva is in good condition.
A spokeswoman for the American Heart Association, Braxton suffers from pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart. She learned she had the condition after the birth of her second son.
Braxton has been headlining a Las Vegas show at the hotel since 2006. Tomorrow’s show could be canceled, but that won’t be confirmed until this afternoon. Today was a scheduled off day.
