According to New York Magazine’s Vulture, “Top Gun 2″ is in the works and Tom Cruise has agreed to appear in the sequel.

Vulture reports that Paramount Pictures has pursued “Top Gun” producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tony Scott to film a follow up to their hit 1986 flick about Naval aviators.

Oscar-winning screenwriter (and Cruise pal) Christopher McQuarrie has been tapped to pen the script, which would feature Cruise’s Lieutenant Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in a small and not-too-obvious role. In other words, Vulture reports, don’t expect to see Maverick as a “grizzled Top Gun flight instructor.”

The high-flying original film – which also starred Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, Anthony Edwards and Meg Ryan – grossed $353 million and helped Cruise soar onto Hollywood’s A-List. As of yet, no actors are currently attached to the sequel.

The long hair is back!

In a Russian uniform, Bruce Springsteen T-shirt and a large mustache, Tom Cruise begins filming scenes for his latest project, Mission Impossible 4 which has begun filming on location in Prague, Czech Republic today.

Man, you know Tom Cruise needs this movie to succeed! He’s had a stretch of bad luck in the movie department lately. His last successful movie was 2008′s Tropic Thunder, and he wasn’t even in it that much. His last three starring movies have bombed. Lions for Lambs, Valkyrie and Knight & Day.

Tom Cruise recently opened up about doing the another MI movie, “My whole thing with the series is always having a new director come on and put their stamp on ‘Mission: Impossible,’ ” he told MTV News this summer. “Brian De Palma was first, then John Woo, J.J. Abrams and now Brad Bird, so it will be Brad Bird’s ‘Mission: Impossible.’ ” Regarding his thoughts on the story line — which is, of course, very much under wraps — Cruise said simply: “It’s sick. It’s fun, really fun.”

So which Lost alum is joining the cast? Josh Holloway! Josh will play a member of the Impossible Mission Force, the high-tech and top-secret task force headed by Tom Cruise‘s character, Ethan Hunt.

This will be Josh’s first big feature-film role. He’s best known for playing Sawyer on ABC’s LOST.

Other cast members include Jeremy Renner (love him!), Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg.

Tom Cruise and wife actress Katie Holmes headed out for an Italian meal in Prague, Czech Republic with their four-year-old daughter Suri. Katie and Suri have joined Tom in Prague as he scouts locations for Mission Impossible 4. Tom is not only acting in the movie, he’s also writing and producing the film.

Tom filmed the first Mission Impossible in Prague back in 1995. Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Simon Pegg are rumoured to star opposite Tom in the fourth installment, due for release in December 2011.

Other filming locations that have already been confirmed include British Colombia and Dubai.

Over the course of one raucous night at a seaside wedding seven close friends, all members of a tight, eclectic college clique, reconvene to watch two of their own tie the knot. Laura (Katie Holmes) is maid of honor to Lila (Anna Paquin), her golden girl best friend. The two have long rivaled over the groom, Tom (Josh Duhamel). Friendships and alliances are tested and the love triangle comes to a head the night before the wedding, when the drunken friends frolic in the nearby surf and return to shore… without the groom.

I think this movie looks really good, hopefully it is!

As Tropic Thunder character Les Grossman of course! As least that is what So You Think You Can Dance judge Adam Shankman said over the weekend at the Dizzy Feet Foundation’s National Dance Day event in downtown L.A.

So what kind of dance would Shankman like to see Cruise perform?

“I think hip-hop seems to be his genre,” Shankman said with a smile.

Cruise famously performed with Jennifer Lopez on MTV as character Les Grossman. Many say their performance was the highlight of the night.

Tom’s wife Katie Holmes performed on the 100th episode of SYTYCD doing a dance to the Judy Garland song ‘Get Happy‘. Cat Deeley and former judge Mary Murphy have both stated they would love to see Cruise be a guest judge on one their shows.
