Tom Cruise biographer Andrew Morton refused to be bullied out of publishing his expose on the actor, despite warnings from his entourage that the book would ruin him. Morton claims that he was intimidated by the Church of Scientology, as well as Tom’s legal team.
He was also warned of the plight of the other writers who had attempted to take on the star and ruined their careers in the process.
Wow, does Tom Cruise hold that much weight in the industry that he could basically tell someone that they’d never work in that town ever again?
Cruise’s lawyer, Bert Fields sent his usual routine hostile letter. It’s standard whenever anyone’s investigating Tom. It always says if you say he’s gay we’ll sue. “Years back, one journalist started checking around, and Cruise’s then PR sent word if she continued she’d never ever get another celebrity interview. And she didn’t.
“However, I’ve already been terrorized by the best. Besides Brit tabloids who tried to blackmail my research, Diana brought me the full weight of the entire royal establishment. They were rabid dogs. Threatening me with the Tower Of London. “But I wasn’t worried about losing any career job. They couldn’t use pressure to fire me because I’m a free agent.” Morton adds that Cruise should be grateful his book killed the gay rumours that have plagued the star throughout his career: “Actually, with me saying in the book that he’s always had women in his life and that he’s not gay, instead of hassling me, his lawyers should be sending me cases of whiskey.”

Celebrities turned out for A Night to Benefit Raising Malawi and UNICEF at the United Nations in New York City, yesterday. The stars included Brooke Shields, Cynthia Nixon, Debra Messing, Kimora Lee Simmons, Salma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rachel Zoe, Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes, Ali Larter, Drew Barrymore & Justin Long, Molly Sims, Lucy Lui, Chris Ivery & Ellen Pompeo, Rihanna, Demi Moore, Madonna & Lourdes, Jessica & Jerry Seinfeld, and Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony.

Madonna hosted the star-studded fundraiser for Malawi orphans, last night.
The legendary singer, who has a two-year-old adopted son David from the African country, threw the New York bash for her Raising Malawi Foundation, United Nations children’s organization UNICEF and to celebrate the opening of a new Gucci store.
Madonna, who dismissed rumors the event was raising money for Kabbalah, said: “I am grateful that Gucci has underwritten this event, that’s all that matters to me – their generosity. There’s always controversy surrounding anything that involves change.
“I want to put Raising Malawi on the map. I want credibility as a philanthropic organization. I want to inspire people. I don’t want them to just write me a check – I want them to give me a piece of their heart.”

Selma Blair is saying that she now regrets chopping off her long hair because she is regularly mistaken for Tom Cruise. She currently sports a chopped brunette bob and says that she’s fed up with being likened to the Scientology weirdo.
She didn’t say that last part, but she is fed up with being mistaken for Tom. She says, “I had long hair for a while. Almost down to my waist, but I wanted to go back to my Tom Cruise cut. I told my hairdresser to shave the back and leave the front long.”
She added that someone then thought she was Tom Cruise from the back. She then said she guesses she’d better wear heels.
I don’t blame her. I wouldn’t want to be mistaken for any man, let alone Tom Cruise.

Don’t have a cow, man! Okay, that was screaming for a Bart Simpson quote.
Apparently, Scientology is no laughing matter for the voice of Bart Simpson, actress, Nancy Cartwright. She has reportedly gave the cult church of Scientology a whopping $10 million dollars.
It was all part of Scientology’s Global Salvage effort, which aims to “de-aberrate” Earth — meaning to rid mankind of psychology ills and other “aberrant” behavior.
Surprisingly, Nancy, 50, forked over twice as much as the Scientology’s most prominent member, Tom Cruise, who only gave $5 million in an installment plan.

Tom Cruise is the first on the list to get Ducati’s newest motorcycle — a $72,500 superbike bristling with titanium, magnesium and carbon fiber technology that can scoot up to 200 mph.
Cruise is scheduled to take delivery of the Desmosedici RR at Beverly Hills Ducati this week. Only 1,500 of the red-and-white Moto GP racing replica motorcycles will be made and Cruise gets the first.
Michael Lock, chief of Cupertino-based Ducati North America, said the Desmosedici RR “is the impossible dream — made possible.”
“We are delighted to be able to deliver the world’s first production unit here in the USA to Tom Cruise, who is a well-known Ducati enthusiast,” Lock said in a statement.
