Tim McGraw has spoken out about his attack on a rowdy fan at a show in Washington last week.
The country star has downplayed the incident, during which he helped security staff eject an unruly reveller at a concert in Auburn.
He says, “I was just trying to keep peace and the security guys just couldn’t get there in time.”
McGraw took action after he spotted the man assault a woman in the audience.
The incident made headlines last week when footage of it surfaced online.
McGraw halted his performance of Indian Outlaw to yell for help, screaming, “Get rid of this guy! Security!”
McGraw’s spokeswoman has since revealed the “overly aggressive fan” attacked a female fan, and Tim witnessed the incident.
She says, “Tim called for security, but when they could not respond quick enough, Tim and several crew members removed the fan from the audience.”
The “unruly” fan, Marcus Nirschl, 30, insists he didn’t deserve McGraw’s wrath.
He explains, “I was getting shoved up against some empty seats, and I may have pushed some people when I was trying to get my balance… but I didn’t hit nobody. I’m the nicest guy you’ll ever meet.”
Other fans at the show have disputed his claims.

Country singer Tim McGraw doesn’t just dress and talk the cowboy part, he backs it up with action. Just ask a rowdy concert-goer, who found out first hand when McGraw personally booted him from his show Tuesday night.
McGraw was singing “Indian Outlaw” in Auburn, Wash., when he noticed a large man causing a ruckus in the front row, allegedly striking a woman. McGraw said, “Get rid of this guy! Security!” and then stooped down and dragged the man onstage, where security guards took him away.
At one point, the man and McGraw seemed ready to get into a full-fledged fracas, with McGraw cocking his fist back as if to throw a punch.
“While Tim was performing at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn, Washington, last night, he watched a man rush to the front of the stage,” McGraw’s rep told People. “This overly aggressive fan attacked a female fan and Tim witnessed this incident. Tim called for security, but when they could not respond quick enough, Tim and several crew members removed the fan from the audience where he was then turned over to the local authorities.”
The incident was first reported on TMZ.
McGraw’s had run-ins with overly aggressive fans before. Last year, a female fan grabbed the singer’s crotch while he was onstage. Wife Faith Hill immediately put the woman in her place.

Tim McGraw granted a nine-year-old fan a lifelong dream after inviting him onstage to duet at a concert on Friday.
Luke Wood was treated to the concert in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as a birthday treat from his mother Kendra.
But the young fan was shocked when McGraw invited him onstage.
Kendra tells People.com, “My son Luke has been a fan since he was three-years-old and always has said that he was going to sing with Tim McGraw someday.
“He made a simple sign, ‘Can I sing with you?’ And brought it with us. I was completely shocked when Tim started singing ‘Last Dollar (Fly Away)’ and motioned for him to come forward. Before I knew it he was whisked onstage, Tim handed him a mic and began singing with Luke.”
Kendra - who videoed her son and his hero on her cell phone - adds, “I have no idea how I am going to top this birthday present!”

The Country Thunder USA music festival near Dallas, Texas has been cancelled just days before the likes of Tim McGraw and Carrie Underwood were due to perform.
Poor ticket sales prompted organizers to scrap the four-day event.
It’s the second year in succession the festival has suffered - torrential rains prompted organizers to cancel one day of last year’s event.
Promoters insist the decision to cancel will not affect the Country Thunder festival taking place in Wisconsin in July.

Tim McGraw has bagged a couple of nice developments for his career: He just set a precedent as the first country artist to hit No. 1 on the “Billboard” classic rock chart, and he has his own special corn chip flavor in a deal with Fritos.
Tim’s collaboration with Def Leppard on “Nine Lives,” a track from the band’s album Songs From The Sparkle Lounge, vaulted him to the top spot on the chart. Tim’s tour manager, Robert Allen, is the brother of Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen, which led to an introduction to the group. The song came together after Tim made a guest appearance at the band’s 2006 show at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl. Rick also performed at Tim’s Swampstock benefit concert in Louisiana back in 2004.
Tim’s Fritos agreement actually has his new flavor, Tim McGraw’s Spicy Jalapeno Fritos, in Wal-Mart stores today. Fritos has been signed as the official snack food for Tim’s Live Your Voice Tour, which kicks off in Tampa May 9.
Meanwhile, Tim’s latest Swampstock installment is set for Sept. 13.
Have you heard Nine Lives yet? If you’re not a fan of Tim, then at least check it out for the rockin’ sound. Coming from a major Def Leppard fan, I love it. And the song was added as downloadable content for Guitar Hero 3. It’s fun, check it out.
