Tilda Swinton performed a little dance ritual before the start of her glamour-free film festival in Scotland this weekend - to pray for rain.
The Oscar winner has become so disillusioned with celebrity-packed film festivals, she set up her own which promises to be more low-key.
The Michael Clayton star founded The Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams festival with celebrated director Joel Coen in her hometown of Nairn in north east Scotland. The nine-day event kicked off on Friday.
And Swinton admits she wished for wet weather throughout the festival so more people would head inside to watch films in the former bingo hall she’s rented out for the event.
She says, “I did a rain dance last night and it seems to have worked. What better place to be on a rainy August afternoon than in a cinema?”
The Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams festival will run until August 23rd and show three films a day. Entry to the festival costs $6, but attendees can get in for free by bringing a tray of homemade cakes.

Oscar winner Tilda Swinton has become so disillusioned with celebrity-packed film festivals, she has set up her own which promises to be glamour-free.
The Michael Clayton actress recently spoke of her shock at the amount of free products handed out to stars at red carpet events, and has vowed to create a new event which focuses solely on movies.
The actress, along with celebrated director Joel Coen, has founded The Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams festival in her hometown of Nairn in north east Scotland.
The event will run between August 15th and 23rd and show three films a day. Entry to the festival costs $6 or a tray of homemade cakes, and guests will be seated on bean bags.

Oscar winner Tilda Swinton was staggered by the amount of free stuff on offer at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah in January, claiming the event has become like “a polluted lagoon”.
The actress was at the festival with her new film Derek, which she wrote and produced, and was ostracised when she told organisers she wanted nothing to do with the “swag”.
She explains, “Everybody went there to enjoy the crystal waters and the white sand, and they just messed it up with swag bags and studio deals. I actually said I didn’t want any swag, and it was not kindly taken. Someone almost said to me, ‘Well, what are you doing here then?’”
