“Hung” actor Thomas Jane knows a thing or two about being a prostitute, because he used to be one in real life.

In a shocking new interview with the L.A. Times, the 42-year-old actor reveals he used to provide services to men when he was just a teenager.

“Hey, you grow up as an artist in a big city, as James Dean said, ‘You’re going to have one arm tied behind your back if you don’t accept people’s sexual flavors,’” says Jane.

He adds, “You know, when I was a kid out here in L.A., I was homeless, I didn’t have any money and I was living in my car. I was 18. I wasn’t averse to going down to Santa Monica Boulevard and letting a guy buy me a sandwich. Know what I mean?”

Jane continues, “You’re a lot more open to experimentation as a young man. And for me, being a young artist and broke in Los Angeles, I was exploring my sexual identity. And probably because of my middle-class, white blue-collar upbringing, I would have never had the opportunity to confront some of my own fears and prejudices had I not been hungry enough to be forced to challenge myself in that way.”

Of his sexuality now, Jane says “I chose to be a heterosexual guy because that’s what my DNA dictates and my nurture dictates that I am. It’s not a choice until you’re open enough to experience both male and female sexuality. Until you’ve tasted the food, you don’t know whether you’ll like it or not, as my mom always said.”

Jane was previously married to Patricia Arquette, but their divorce was finalized in July.

Although they reconciled after splitting last year, Thomas Jane and Patricia Arquette are splitting up, again. His rep has confirmed that they will be seeking a divorce.

“The split is completely amicable and their prime focus is their daughter,” says the rep. “They ask that their privacy be respected at this time.”

The Medium actress first filed for divorce from Jane, Hung, in January 2009, but the two reconciled later that year.

Arquette, 42, and Jane, 41, met through friends in 2001 and were married in Italy in May 2006. Their only child together, a daughter named Harlow Olivia Calliope, was born in February 2003.

There don’t seem to be any “irreconcilable differences” for Patricia Arquette and Thomas Jane.

Although Arquette, 40, filed for divorce in January from actor Jane, they’re still close pals—and possibly headed for a reconciliation.

A source tells Celebuzz that Jane held a belated 40th birthday bash for himself at Los Angeles nightspot Hwood on Friday, where Arquette happily attended in tow with her brother David and his wife Courteney Cox Arquette.

“Thomas was so doting,” the source says, “there were a ton of people at this party and it was obvious where his attentions were.”

The Medium’s Patricia Arquette and actor husband Thomas Jane have ended their two-year marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” a deputy public information officer from the L.A. Superior Court confirmed to Usmagazine.com on Monday.

“The divorce documents were filed Jan. 5, 2008, by Patricia Arquette,” the officer told Us. She is seeking separate property.

The couple, who had been engaged since 2002, tied the knot in Venice, Italy, in June 2006.

They have a five-year-old daughter, Harlow.

Arquette, 40, previously wed Nicolas Cage in 1995, but they separated after only nine months.

Thomas, 39, who starred in 2004 flick The Punisher, was previously married to actress Aysha Hauer.

In March, TMZ reported that Thomas was arrested and charged with DUI after driving with a blood alcohol level above .08%.

Patricia Arquette’s hubby didn’t need a medium to predict the outcome of this one.

Thomas Jane was sentenced to a year’s probation Wednesday after pleading no contest in Shafter, Calif., to a solo count of driving under the influence stemming from his March 11 arrest during a traffic stop.

The Punisher star must also pay about $1,700 in fines and attend two alcohol-education classes.

In exchange for copping to misdemeanor DUI, Kern County authorities agreed to drop charges of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and driving with a blood-alcohol level higher than 0.08 percent.

Jane, 39, is now also off the hook for two speeding tickets issued at separate times in March prior to his arrest.
