Clarkson gave one of Taylor Swift’s biggest hits of the year, “Blank Space,” a soulful makeover on Saturday, and everyone’s pleased about it, even Tay!
A concert-goer requested the 1989 hit during the sold-out performance at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre for the Toronto stop of her Piece by Piece tour. As expected, the crowd ATE UP the cover, and so did Swift. Took to Twitter to express her love for the rendition, writing: “Kelly Clarkson covered Blank Space and YES.”
Uh, YEAH and YES!
Check out the cover below, and tell us which version you like better. I gotta say… I’m a fan of the Clarkson cover!
Nicki Minaj officially put an end to her Twitter “feud” with Swift yesterday, after the two talked on the phone and voiced their opinions.
The “Style” singer had already publicly apologized to Minaj on Thursday after she took offense to a Tweet by the rapper that complained that “Anaconda” wasn’t nominated for video of the year at the MTV Video Music Awards because it didn’t feature enough women “with very slim bodies.”Other stars like Katy Perry, Camilla Belle, Aaron Paul and Ed Sheeranweighed in, presumably because they had nothing better to do. Eventually, Swift said that she had “missed the point” of Minaj’s original complaints. Minaj quickly accepted her apology, saying that “everyone makes mistakes.” You’d think that was it, but then Minaj revealed that the two decided to communicate you know, with their mouths. Over phones. Like adults.
During her GMA appearance, Minaj revealed that she had spoken to Swift on the phone on Thursday and said that they are “all good.”
“She was super, super sweet and she apologized,” the rapper said. “She said, ‘You know, look, I didn’t understand the big picture of what you were saying. But now I get it.’ So we’re all good.”
Minaj also said that she would be open to collaborating with Swift in the future.
“I’m sure we can. You know why? Because it takes a big person to do what Taylor did. Everyone sometimes speaks out of turn. I’ve been there. Sometimes we do things and we don’t think right away. We don’t investigate and then we just talk. It was big of her to come out and say that. So yes, we spoke for a long time. We were cracking up laughing on the phone. It’s over, you guys.”
“@NICKIMINAJ I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..” after the rapper called out the VMAs for her lack of nomination in the Video of the Year category.
The “Anaconda” performer was not having it, writing:
“If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year. I’m not always confident. Just tired. Black women influence pop culture so much but are rarely rewarded for it.”
Woah, that’s big of you, Taylor. What do you think of her apology?
