Steven Spielberg is directing a upcoming biopic on Abraham Lincoln, and if you ask me, he chose the perfect actor to play the role.

Daniel Day Lewis was spotted yesterday in Richmond, VA, eating lunch at a restaurant in full Lincoln makeup. The cast and crew are filming there, and Twitter user @UVAMichael caught this picture and posted it.

It’s amazing how much DDL looks like the former president!

The film, which will also star Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Robert Todd Lincoln, Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens and John Hawkes as Robert Latham, amongst other stars.

I will watch absolutely anything DDL does, and combine that with Steven Spielberg as the director? Oh man!

Set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War, “War Horse” begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets–British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter–before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man’s Land.

Steven Speilberg has produced some of the biggest movies of the summer, but it’s been quite some time since he stepped behind the directors lens. His last role as director was 2008′s ‘Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull’ (I’d need a break too!).

Now, the man behind innumerable classics is headed back to the big screen as a director with a new flurry of films, led off by the World War I epic, “War Horse,” starring newcomer Jeremy Irvine and based on the book by Michael Morpurgo and the Tony Award-winning play, both of the same name.

Also coming this year will be his “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn,” a live action, motion-captured adaptation of the classic comic and cartoon, and then 2012′s already-Oscar-frontrunner “Lincoln,” a biopic of the former president based on Doris Kearns’ Goodwin’s famous book.

I think it looks like it could be good! Seems strange to have a war movie – and have the horses be the center character, but it could work I suppose!

Steven Spielberg is reportedly working on a movie about the WikiLeaks scandal after buying the rights to a book detailing the inside workings of the whistle-blowing website and its director Julian Assange.

The movie mogul’s DreamWorks company has paid for the rights to new book WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy, according to The Guardian. The tome was published by Guardian Books last month.

The book details the life of Assange, the creation of the site in 2006 and the leaks of classified documents.

Alan Rusbridger, editor-in-chief of Guardian News & Media, says, “It’s Woodward and Bernstein meets Stieg Larsson meets Jason Bourne. Plus the odd moment of sheer farce and, in Julian Assange, a compelling character who goes beyond what any Hollywood scriptwriter would dare to invent.”

Spielberg has not yet commented on the project.

Steven Spielberg and Will Smith are in early discussions to collaborate on a remake of Chan Wook-park’s “Oldboy.” DreamWorks is in the process of securing the remake rights, and the new pic will be distributed by Universal.

In the 2003 Korean original, a man gets kidnapped and held in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. Suddenly, he’s released and given money, a cell phone and clothes and is set on a path to discover who destroyed his life so he can take revenge.

Spielberg had been looking for an opportunity to make a film with Smith, who would play the kidnapped man if all the pieces fall into place. Spielberg is looking for a writer to begin the development process.
