Stephen Colbert has been chosen by CBS to replace David Letterman on the “Late Show.”
CBS released an official statement this morning, announcing “The Colbert Report” anchor will take over for Letterman when he retires in 2015.
Letterman announced last week that he’s retiring after being the host of the Late Show for the past 33 years. On his April 3rd show, the 66-year-old said he called CBS president Leslie Moonves before taping, “And I said ‘Leslie, it’s been great, you’ve been great, and the network has been great, but I’m retiring.'”
Shortly after David’s announcement, there were rumors that 49-year-old Colbert was the top pick for replacing Letterman. Looks like the rumors were true!
