Music mogul Simon Cowell is set to make a film about a British cellphone salesman who shot to fame after winning TV talent show Britain’s Got Talent. The tale of singer Paul Potts’ rise will be brought to the big screen by his musical mentor Cowell, who has agreed a deal with Paramount.

The forthcoming movie has been dubbed the new Billy Elliot by Cowell, who will act as producer. Film giant Paramount reportedly agreed to finance the project after seeing Potts’ performances on YouTube following his win on the talent show in 2007. And Cowell is delighted the studio has given the movie the green light.

He says, “Most of these calls result in absolutely nothing, but this company got that it’s another Billy Elliot, a story anyone in the world can understand.” Potts’ album One More Chance has sold over three million copies, and has been released in 15 countries.

Acid tongued music mogul Simon Cowell has slammed Sunday night’s Academy Awards, because he says, “The Oscars reek of snobbery.”

The American Idol judge believes the ceremony – which exclusively rewards work on movies – looks down on TV series and television stars; and Cowell even claims he’s viewed as “evil” in Hollywood circles.

He says, “They think I’m the antichrist. They don’t like us TV people to be part of it – it’s ridiculous. It reeks of snobbery.” And Cowell insists he wouldn’t want to attend the star-studded event because he hates Tinseltown. He adds, “I have nothing to do with the Oscars – and nor do I want to. I’ll only go if someone has invited me. “I hate the whole movie industry. It’s so stuck up I can’t bear it.”

The 48-year-old “Mr. Nasty” has no children and has said that his girlfriend Terri Seymour will not be offended if he leaves a large chunk of his wealth to charity.

It’s being reported that he will donate the vast sum to a selection of organizations helping children and animals.

Simon, famous for his harsh criticisms of pop hopefuls on his TV talent shows X Factor and American Idol, was forced to think about his legacy while on holiday with his mother in Barbados.

He said: “My mother asked, ‘Have you ever made a will? I said, ‘Thanks a lot!’ But it got me thinking.”

Cowell is a keen animal rights activist and has already demonstrated his generosity by donating $20,000 to set up The Hope Animal Rescue Sanctuary in Barbados.

While Simon Cowell’s bank balance is growing at a fast and steady rate, the same can no longer be said of his figure.

It appears the X Factor judge may have made a 2007 New year’s resolution to banish his man boobs – and stuck to it.

This time last year, Cowell was pictured holidaying in Barbados, keeping abreast of the rest, with an expanding chest.

His devotion to getting himself in shape has clearly paid off and 33-year-old Miss Seymour would have had to look long and hard to find his former love handles.

The couple were joined on their three-week sunshine break by Cowell’s mother Julie and his best friend Michael Winner, 72, who has himself shed the paunch – but more through a debilitating illness than a concerted exercise regime.

Cowell, who is Britain’s highest paid TV star with an estimated fortune of £100 million, recently told the Daily Mail about the effort he took to preserve his looks.

He said: “I am vain but I cannot think of one person on TV who is not. It is the nature of the beast.

“I have had Botox but not in an obsessive way. I just like to take care of myself. I am eating a lot better and have cut out the chocolate biscuits and crisps.

“I work out, take lots of vitamins and think I look good for my age.”

Perhaps mediating between his warring fellow X-Factor judges Dannii Minogue and Sharon Osbourne has kept him on his toes.

In a candid interview with London’s Daily Mail, the feisty American Idol judge, 48 — who’s dated Extra correspondent Terri Seymour for five years — revealed:

He’s vain!
“To be honest with you, I can’t think of one person who is on TV who isn’t vain. It’s the nature of the beast. If you are on TV then you have a vanity, for sure. Just admit it! Why not?”

He’s had Botox!
“Yes, I’ve had Botox, but not in an obsessive way. Then again, every guy I know who works in the city has had it now.”

He’s not gay!
“If I was [gay], why hide it? It’s not as if the music business would be an odd place for a gay man to work. And anyway, if I was trying to hide the fact that I was gay, I would be off playing rugby every Saturday, wouldn’t I?”

He doesn’t want kids!
“I love kids – at least when they are old enough to talk. But my own? No. I’m terrified of the responsibility. Where would they fit in? I have to be able to fly to Los Angeles at a minute’s notice.”

He doesn’t want to get married!
“People think there is something suspect about Terri and me. Why? Just because I don’t want to get married?”

His mother knows he won’t settle down!
“She can see this is my life, and I’m happy with it. She has her grandchildren, courtesy of my brother Nicholas. Of course she always thought she would talk me round, but in the past few years I think she has realized this is how it is.”
