In his first interview since his late-night Hollywood car crash in July that put him in the hospital, Shia LaBeouf tells ET’s Mark Steines that the accident was “eye opening and terrifying.”
“The car hit me at 70mph,” Shia says about the crash in which his truck flipped. “It was one of the biggest things that’s happened to me, for sure, in my life.”
“I’m grateful to be here,” he told Mark. His left hand is still in a semi-brace.
Shia was talking with Mark to promote his new movie, ‘Eagle Eye.’ The ‘Indiana Jones’ star re-teams with his ‘Disturbia’ director D.J. Caruso for the high-tech film, in which he plays a man who, along with Michelle Monaghan, is forced to act as a pawn for a mysterious woman who seems to know their every move. As they get deeper and deeper into trouble, they must outwit their tormentor before her diabolical plot can be carried out.
Based on an idea by Steven Spielberg, ‘Eagle Eye’ also stars Rosario Dawson, Michael Chiklis and Billy Bob Thornton. The new action-thriller hits theaters September 26.

Adrian Grenier has laughed off reports he was dumped by actress Isabel Lucas for Shia LaBeouf – insisting the pair were never a couple.
The Australian beauty – who was a passenger in LaBeouf’s truck when he crashed in Hollywood at the end of last month – reportedly dropped the Entourage actor in August for her Transformers co-star after the accident.
But Grenier insists LaBeouf didn’t steal his former flame – because he’s been too busy having fun being single in Hollywood to have a serious relationship.
He says, “I thought it was funny that suddenly there was a big scandal, because since when were we dating? First of all, we don’t give each other those labels – it’s more subtle than that. She and I have a very open communication. We’re friends with common interests. Secondly, love and relationships are complicated. No one could ever get it right in a four-line sentence. I’m not married. We’re young in Hollywood and having fun.”

ET confirms the news that the owner of a car involved in an accident with Shia LaBeouf has been issued a citation regarding the crash. Police previously confirmed to ET that Shia was not at fault for the accident.
Simon Herbert, 21, was issued a citation because his car failed to stop at a stop light. Police would not confirm to ET whether Herbert was actually driving the car on July 27 at the time of the accident with LaBeouf.

Shia LaBeouf is recovering nicely from his car crash last month, says his Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen co-star Isabel Lucas, who was with him at the time of the accident.
“We’re both fine, and Shia’s fine as well,” she tells Access Hollywood. “His hand is healing well.”
LaBeouf, 22, and Lucas, 23, were involved in a collision with another vehicle in Hollywood July 27. (Police said LaBeouf, who was cited for misdemeanor DUI, was not at fault; the other driver apparently ran a red light.)
Lucas was not injured during the crash, but LaBeouf was forced to undergo extensive surgery to his left hand. (The injury is being written into the Transformers sequel, which begins shooting shortly.)
It had been reported that LaBeouf might have to have his pinky amputated, but his rep tells Usmagazine.com that report is untrue.

Shia LaBeouf is convinced he’s unlucky with women – because he’s not a typical Hollywood playboy.
The Transformers star, 22, admits he’s become a hit with the ladies since his sudden rise to fame with roles in a series of box office smashes this summer – but insists he has yet to perfect his pick-up lines.
He says, “I’m enjoying myself. But I’m not great with women, dude. I’m not a closer. I can chat all night long, but I’m not the guy who goes, ‘Okay, back to my room.’ I’ve never been that way. It’s not my presence, I just can’t do it. But it’s not been a priority of mine for a while.”
