The Eagle Eye star had his driver’s license suspended Saturday, a result of his refusal to take a Breathalyzer test when he was busted on suspicion of driving under the influence following a July car crash, a DMV official tells E! News.
“It was suspended for refusing a chemical test,” the official said, noting that even though LaBeouf was cleared of any DUI charges after it was determined that the other driver caused his smashup, the suspension was “automatic.”
California law states that a person’s license can be suspended for up to one year if he/she refuses to take a blood, breath or urine test for a suspected DUI.
LaBeouf’s attorney couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
The actor suffered a crushed hand that has since required two surgeries in the July 27 rollover crash, caused when another driver ran a red light and smashed into LaBeouf’s Ford pickup truck as the Transformers star was looking to make a left turn.

Shia LaBeouf looks scruffy as he arrives at Los Angeles Airport. The ‘Transformers’ star sported dirty jeans and carried a doctors bag. He also showed off his hand which is still bandaged following his recent car accident.

Actor Shia LaBeouf won’t be charged with a DUI stemming from his July car accident but his license could be suspended for refusing a breathalyzer test.
The L.A. County District Attorney had “insufficient evidence” to charge the Transformers star, a spokeswoman told the Associated Press on Thursday.
LaBeouf, 22, must now appear at a traffic hearing at the Department of Motor Vehicles on Friday. His license could be suspended for up to nine months.
“Shia is most happy that he will not have to go to court,” his attorney, Michael Norris, told the AP. “I anticipate that once we do have the opportunity to litigate the matter at the DMV that his license will not be suspended.”
Two other people involved may be charged for the accident, which badly injured LaBeouf’s hand and required days of hospitalized.
The accident occurred in West Hollywood on the morning of July 27. Sheriff’s deputies had previously determined that LaBeouf was not at fault; the other driver apparently ran a red light
Earlier this month, LaBeouf said the crash was “eye opening and terrifying.
“The car hit me at 70 mph,” he told Entertainment Tonight.
“It was one of the biggest things that’s happened to me, for sure, in my life,” he added. “I’m grateful to be here.”
LaBeouf’s latest film, Eagle Eye, opens today.

In attendance, were Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Rosario Dawson, Michelle Monaghan, Billy Bob Thornton, Kristin Cavalleri, Maria Bello, and more!

In his first interview since his late-night Hollywood car crash in July that put him in the hospital, Shia LaBeouf tells ET’s Mark Steines that the accident was “eye opening and terrifying.”
“The car hit me at 70mph,” Shia says about the crash in which his truck flipped. “It was one of the biggest things that’s happened to me, for sure, in my life.”
“I’m grateful to be here,” he told Mark. His left hand is still in a semi-brace.
Shia was talking with Mark to promote his new movie, ‘Eagle Eye.’ The ‘Indiana Jones’ star re-teams with his ‘Disturbia’ director D.J. Caruso for the high-tech film, in which he plays a man who, along with Michelle Monaghan, is forced to act as a pawn for a mysterious woman who seems to know their every move. As they get deeper and deeper into trouble, they must outwit their tormentor before her diabolical plot can be carried out.
Based on an idea by Steven Spielberg, ‘Eagle Eye’ also stars Rosario Dawson, Michael Chiklis and Billy Bob Thornton. The new action-thriller hits theaters September 26.
