Shia LaBeouf announces the name of the new Indiana Jones movie!

shialabeoufvmas.jpg

On hand to present the Female Artist of the Year trophy, Transformers star Shia LaBeouf informed the folks in attendance, as well as millions of at-home viewers, that the title of the upcoming installment in the Indiana Jones franchise will be Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

“I’ve been sworn to secrecy by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas to not tell you the title of the next Indiana Jones movie, but I’m 21 now, so…” LaBeouf said coyly.

Proving that the bean spillage was no accident, Paramount Pictures, the film’s distributor, immediately issued a press release touting LaBeouf’s titular revelation.

The young actor is part of a heavy-hitting cast that includes Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Jim Broadbent, Ray Winstone, John Hurt and Raiders of the Lost Ark love interest Karen Allen.

Although the well guarded plot of the fourth film is being kept under proverbial (and possibly actual) lock and key, Allen’s addition to the lineup has sparked speculation that LaBeouf will play her and Ford’s son, who presumably has been long-lost to the intrepid archaeologist.

Other possibilities include the British-born Hurt taking over where a now-retired Sean Connery left off as Indy’s father (or playing Albert Einstein, depending on whom you ask), Broadbent playing a bumbling yet useful sidekick à la Denholm Elliot’s Professor Marcus Brody, and Spielberg’s missus, Kate Capshaw, returning as Temple of Doom gal Willie Scott.

But all secrets will be revealed in due time. The Spielberg-directed Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, a Lucasfilm production, has been slated for a May 22, 2008, release. Cameras started rolling in June.

Hollywood hunk Shia LeBouf and RnB sensation Rihanna are officially a couple, according to reports.

The pair – who were photographed enjoying a beverage at a bar last month– are now an item, but are taking things “slow.”

“It’s all the talk of the Indiana Jones 4 set,” an insider told Perez Hilton.

The report goes on to claim that LeBeouf took Rihanna out on a romantic date Tuesday at Kate Mantilini in Beverly Hills.

Shia Has the ‘Eagle Eye’

DreamWorks is reteaming “Disturbia” star Shia LaBeouf and director D.J. Caruso for “Eagle Eye,” a thriller that will shoot in the fall.

LaBeouf, who stars in the Michael Bay-directed DreamWorks/Paramount actioner “Transformers,” is finalizing a deal to play a young slacker whose overachieving twin brother has died mysteriously. When the young man returns home, both he and a single mother find they have been framed as terrorists. Forced to become members of a cell that has plans to carry out a political assassination, they must work together to extricate themselves.

Dan McDermott penned the script based on an original idea by Steven Spielberg; Hillary Seitz is rewriting. “Transformers” scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who are based at DreamWorks, will produce.

Studio bought the McDermott script several years ago, and Spielberg originally planned to direct. Busy with “Indiana Jones 4,” the film that teams LaBeouf with Harrison Ford, Spielberg dropped out. He turned to Caruso, a director with whom he first worked on “High Incident,” the 1996 series Spielberg exec produced; that led to Caruso directing “Disturbia.”

“Disturbia” grossed nearly $80 million domestically, and both LaBeouf and Caruso have been in high demand. Caruso, who had been flirting with several film projects, including the Fox-based “X-Men” spinoff “Wolverine,” sparked to the chance to reprise with LaBeouf.

Project also reteams LaBeouf with Kurtzman and Orci, who have landed their second significant producing deal in the last week after “Cowboys & Aliens.” That live-action adaptation of the graphic novel is being mounted by Imagine Entertainment as a co-production of DreamWorks and Universal.
