During her performance at Sunday night’s Democratic National Convention opener, Green Sunday at Red Rocks, Sheryl Crow explained why she is supporting Barack Obama for president.
“We’ve lost the ability to be inspired,” she told Extra. “And he’s stepped up. We are finally inspired by the words that he’s saying.”
The nine-time Grammy winner said she feels celebrity has become a “derogatory term”–one that she prefers not to associate herself with.
“I like to think of myself as an artist and a songwriter and I feel like my voice is better utilized if I’m encouraging people to excercise their right and their freedom to vote safely in this country,” she says. “To please get registered and make their voice heard rather than endorse a candidate.”
Sheryl continues, “Obviously I’m here supporting Senator Obama…But more than that for me it’s just important that people just get out and be part of the system.”

According to Billboard, Sheryl Crow is giving away 50,000 copies of her album who register three friends to vote.
This is a tactic that she refers to as the “Tupperware” party approach. She announced her plan today to give away digital copies of “Detours”.
She says, “I hope people wake up and emotionally engage in issues.”
Will you register to get a copy of her album?

It’s hard enough being a working mom with a 1-year-old baby, but add in a busy tour schedule and you’ve got a quite the challenge. Sheryl Crow talked to OK! about life on the road with her son Wyatt and how she manages to keep it all together.
“I’m lucky my job starts after Wyatt’s gone to bed. And I get to wake up with him in the morning – it’s a pretty sweet arrangement,” Sheryl tells OK!. “His crib is right across from my bunk on the bus, and we’re joined at the hip.”
Spending your days on the road requires certain necessities, and for Sheryl, those must-haves come down to a few simple things: “all three seasons of Arrested Development, Bud Light beer and a humidifier. Plus, a washer and dryer – when you have a little guy it’s constant laundry.”

Sheryl Crow didn’t have to look any further than her own closet to find the inspiration for her new Bootheel Trading Co. line of jeans, vests and T-shirts. “I have an incredible amount of vintage that I’ve collected over the years,” says Crow, whose line (named after where she grew up — “the boot heel of Missouri”) debuts in Dillard’s department stores on Aug. 7.
“My style is very Americana. I gravitate to pieces that are American by nature, either western or Depression-era.” When she’s not on tour supporting her latest album, Detours, you’ll find the Grammy winner at home on her Tennessee ranch with her 15-month-old son Wyatt, 16 horses and two Labradors.
“I do almost everything in jeans, except sleep,” says Crow, 46, who wanted the denim-based line she calls “comfortable and earthy” to still be affordable for her friends back home. “Denim has become so high-priced as of late. My friends back home don’t want to spend $250 for a pair of jeans. I want them to be able to walk into a medium-priced store and be able to afford a cool pair of jeans for less than 100 bucks.”
Crow’s most expensive jeans are $69, with shirts staring at $29 — click here to see the whole line at dillards.com.

Sheryl Crow has been kicked out of Fleetwood Mac before her career with the supergroup even began.
The rocker was invited to join the group by guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, and spoke openly about the thrill of singing alongside Stevie Nicks – but now Crow won’t be a part of the Don’t Stop hitmakers’ 2009 tour plans.
Buckingham, who confirms Crow did meet with the members of Fleetwood Mac to discuss the possibility of touring with them, says the matter “kinda got out of hand,” telling Billboard.com the idea “just kind of lost its momentum”.
He explains, “I think with Stevie… maybe, to some degree, there was a little too much testosterone onstage when we went out (on tour) in 2003, and I think the band was looking to kind of balance that out a little bit (by inviting Crow on tour).
“I think the good side has been, for Stevie, she came to a point of clarity where she realised the most appropriate thing we could do as a band was to create what needs to be created in the context of the four of us.”
