Sheryl Crow has been kicked out of Fleetwood Mac before her career with the supergroup even began.
The rocker was invited to join the group by guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, and spoke openly about the thrill of singing alongside Stevie Nicks - but now Crow won’t be a part of the Don’t Stop hitmakers’ 2009 tour plans.
Buckingham, who confirms Crow did meet with the members of Fleetwood Mac to discuss the possibility of touring with them, says the matter “kinda got out of hand,” telling Billboard.com the idea “just kind of lost its momentum”.
He explains, “I think with Stevie… maybe, to some degree, there was a little too much testosterone onstage when we went out (on tour) in 2003, and I think the band was looking to kind of balance that out a little bit (by inviting Crow on tour).
“I think the good side has been, for Stevie, she came to a point of clarity where she realised the most appropriate thing we could do as a band was to create what needs to be created in the context of the four of us.”

Sheryl Crow has banned gossip magazines from her household - because she refuses to witness the exploitation of celebrities at their lowest points in life.
The singer endured a turbulent year after she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in February 2006 and later faced a break-up with champion cyclist Lance Armstrong.
And Crow - who has since recovered from the disease - was so hurt by the paparazzi who hunted her down in her darkest days she has now instituted a “no tabloid” rule in her home.
She says, “It’s a hazard of the job, I guess. When I got diagnosed and my relationship fell apart, it was an intrusion to have photographers trying to get a picture of what I looked like when I was at my lowest low, knowing that people can’t wait to buy it. I’m happy for my nanny to have all that stuff, but she’s keeping them at her place.”

Sheryl Crow has given U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama yet another celebrity boost - offering to perform for the Senator on the campaign trail.
Crow is one of many star supporters backing Obama’s run for the White House against Republican leader John McCain.
And she reveals she is trying to fit campaign dates into her touring schedule.
She says, “I know my manager’s been talking to them. We’re just putting schedules together and figuring out where we can be useful and what they need us for. I think his message is strong and clear. It’s a message we need to start to believe in, and we need to stop with the cynicism and really manifest ourselves as being a part of what’s happening in this country.”

Sheryl Crow relied heavily on alcohol to get her through her early live performances - because she could only take to the stage when she was drunk.
The All I Wanna Do hitmaker admits she drank a lot of Jack Daniel’s whiskey as a young star to help her handle the stresses of fame.
But Crow is relieved she eventually kicked the habit.
She says, “I did a lot of drinking early on because it helped me cope with what was happening. But I couldn’t deal with it. I’m small and skinny and just a couple of shots would get me drunk. A couple more and I’d be all over the place. I had to knock it on the head. Now the greatest buzz is performing sober.”

Sheryl Crow credits her battle against breast cancer with making her a better person - because it gave her a reason to cry.
The All I Wanna Do hitmaker admits the disease changed a number of things about her - including what she ate and how she dealt with her emotions.
Crow revealed that she always tried to put on a brave face - but cancer made her realize she could open up and express her feelings.
She says, “If I was angry or sad, I let myself cry. I spent days crying. I allowed myself to open up. I used to think people only loved me when I was achieving, and I began to understand that the real people - my close friends and family - loved me whatever.”

Jennifer Aniston isn’t the only one with a new man. Life & Style has learned that her pal Sheryl Crow, 46, is dating John Cassimus, a restaurateur from Birmingham, Ala. “They’re enjoying getting to know each other,” says an insider, who adds that a mutual friend, Jay Barker, a football star turned radio personality in Birmingham, introduced them. “Jay got them together in March. John, who’s also a pilot, has been flying his plane to Nashville to see her. They’ve kept it pretty low-key — cooking together, riding horses, going up in his plane.” And if they decide to dine out, they’ll never have to worry about a reservation. “John runs a restaurant chain in the South called Zoë’s Kitchen,” the insider says. “He’s also a partner in a Japanese place called Jinsei in Homewood, near Birmingham.” Sheryl is set to perform in nearby Pelham on May 23 — and, according to the insider, be with her new beau.

Lindsey Buckingham has hit back at reports Sheryl Crow will become a member of the super group when it tours in 2009, insisting her announcement is a little premature.
Christine McVie resigned from the band over a decade ago and Lindsey is looking to replace her with someone to shake things up a bit, but insists that nothing is written in stone.
