Beverly Hills’ original side-burned heartthrob is back! Sort of. Jason Priestley has agreed to do an episode of The CW’s 90210 later this season, but you won’t see him — he’ll be behind the camera, working as a director. Sources confirm to EW.com’s Michael Ausiello exclusively that Priestley will helm this season’s 18th episode, which is slated to air this spring.
Meanwhile, a 90210 insider also reveals that Priestley’s TV sis, Shannen Doherty, is nearing a deal to return for two more episodes later this season. Executive producer Gabe Sachs would only confirm that she’s “in talks,” but my 90210 spy insists “she’s coming back. The deal isn’t officially done, but it’s happening.”
Might one of Doherty’s two episodes be the Priestley-directed installment? Sachs says that’s TBD. “I think it would be a kick for Jason to work with any of his [former 90210 costars], and it would also add something special to that episode,” he says. “But we don’t know whether that will happen yet.”
A more likely scenario has Priestley bossing around his other leading lady, Jennie Garth, who’s back for at least six episodes — despite what the actress herself told Ausiello at EW’s pre-Emmy party last month. “That was a misunderstanding,” whispers a source.

Shannen Doherty once stole a car from the set of Beverly Hills, 90210, crashed it, and let a castmate take the blame.
The actress begged Ian Ziering to let her test drive the Corvette his character, Steve Sanders, drove in the 90s show – and when he said yes, she smashed it up.
Doherty, who has made a cameo appearance in new spin-off show 90210 reveals, “I wanted to drive the Corvette so badly. We took it and I went too fast and hit this bump and it bottomed out. Ian was so sweet he took the blame for it.”

Shannen Doherty has wrapped shooting the four episodes of “90210″ that she signed up for — but it’s possible she might extend her stay in the world’s most famous zip code yet.
“If the CW comes back with an offer for additional episodes, she’s happy to consider it,” Doherty’s spokesman told the Associated Press.
“90210″ reps issued a statement Friday saying they’d “love for her to do more” episodes reprising her famous character Brenda Walsh, and there’s “definitely” a chance that she might.
It was previously reported that fellow “Beverly Hills, 90210″ original Jennie Garth signed up for an additional six episodes after finishing her first five.

Just like Brandon, Dylan, Steve, Colin, and Matt before them, 90210’s producers just can’t get enough of Kelly. So, my sources tell me, they’ve signed Jennie Garth to appear in five episodes on top of the six to which she originally agreed.
So now we’re gonna get the Kelly-Brenda rematch we’ve all been waiting for, right?
Erm, no. Though Shannen Doherty may return later in the season, for now it appears that the first four episodes she signed on for will also be her last (the second of those episodes airs next week). “They asked me to do a lot more,” she says, but “I’m in the middle of pitching a show, [so] I couldn’t commit to more than [I did].”
That being the case, the powers that be might want to reconsider ponying up the big bucks to get Tori Spelling back on board as Donna. Though the update’s second eppy kept it Tuesday’s highest-rated show with women 18-34 (2.9/8) and women 12-34 (2.5/7), its overall numbers took a hit opposite stiffer competition, including the premiere of Fringe.
What do you think? Does 90210 2.0 need Garth and Doherty to make the grade? Or are the new characters appealing enough to make the grade on their own merits? The comments section below is yours for the filling.

Shannen Doherty has hit out at Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan – insisting they deserve to get negative press for flashing photographers without wearing underwear.
The 37-year-old star was branded a ‘bad girl’ during her stint on hit show Beverly Hills, 90210 during the height of her acting career in the 1990s.
But she insists her own outlandish behavior never matched that of Spears and Lohan – who have been snapped in a series of photographs without their underwear.
She says, “You know, you play a character; people perceive you as the character. I guess it means I did my job. But what did I do?! I went out. I was 18 years old! At 18, you’re going to sorority parties. I just did it in the public eye. I certainly wasn’t showing my crotch. Just because I was on 90210 didn’t mean that I didn’t get to have my own real life experiences. You have to live somewhat normally.”
And Doherty says she’s already made plans to settle far away from the limelight, where she hopes to start a family.
She adds: “I’m just a normal person who likes to play with my dogs and ride my horses. I dream of moving back to the South every single day of my life now. I’m actually looking at places in Mississippi and Tennessee… I definitely want a child. Or two. Not sure on the two.”

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Shannen Doherty has branded Tori Spelling a liar after she claimed the actress had engaged in a fistfight with co-star Jennie Garth. Spelling unleashed her wrath on Doherty in her new tome sTori Telling, calling the actress “arrogant” and a “bad influence” on the set of their hit 1990s show. And in the book, Spelling claimed Doherty had such a bad relationship with Garth, their on-set disagreements resulted in a full-on fight.
But Doherty, who will team up with alleged sparring partner Garth in the new Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off, states Spellings tales are false.
She tells Usweekly.com, “We never did (have a fight). I think I would remember Jennie’s fist connecting with a part of my body or a part of my face”.
“It just goes to show you how people will lie.”
Spelling recently pulled out of updated Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off 90210 shortly after Doherty signed on to join the cast.
